I’ve been an iPhone user for as long as there have been iPhones. In fact, I can still clearly recall the moment I powered on the first-generation iPhone with my old Nokia Symbian smartphone sitting on my desk, and I immediately wondered if I would ever pick it up again. I’ve owned every generation of iPhone since then, so I’ve been through all the ups and downs that have come along with them. There have been plenty of each, but the most talked-about “down” in recent years has likely been the fact that iPhones — once clear leaders in the mobile camera space by a wide margin — have fallen far behind some Android rivals where both camera capabilities and photo quality are concerned.

Last year’s iPhone 11, and more specifically the iPhone 11 Pro, closed the camera performance gap. Apple’s new triple-lens camera was a dramatic improvement in all areas, and the new Night mode feature managed to outperform even Google’s Night Sight feature on its Pixel phones. But now, we’re not even two months into 2020 and a new flagship smartphone series has already managed to make the iPhone 11 Pro’s camera seem outdated. I’ve written about the Galaxy S20 Ultra’s impressive camera before, but a new demo of the phone’s most impressive capability has my jealousy flaring up all over again.

The stars of the show are obviously the Fire TV Stick and the Fire TV Stick 4K since they’re Amazon’s two best-selling devices in its Fire TV category. In fact, they’re two of Amazon’s best-selling devices, period. The entry-level Fire TV Stick is down to $24.99 and the upgraded Fire TV Stick 4K is $34.99, both $15 discounts and 2020 low prices. Out of all the Fire TV-branded gadgets Amazon has released over the years, the Fire TV Stick 4K has to be our favorite. It gives you access to all the streaming content you could possibly want in Amazon’s beloved Fire TV interface, and it’s wonderfully compact so you can connect it to any TV without having to worry about making space on a table for a set-top box. On top of that, you get support for stunning 4K resolution and HDR content. It might be our second-favorite Amazon device ever behind the Echo Dot, which delivers hands-free access to Alexa anywhere in your home. Now, if you want to buy both of these great gadgets at the same time, you can save even more money.

At $49.99, the Echo Dot is a tremendous value on its own. Amazon’s Fire TV Stick 4K normally sells for the same price for a total of $100 if you want both, but today the Fire TV Stick 4K is down to its 2020 low of $34.99, as we mentioned. What you might not realize is that there’s also a somewhat-hidden bundle on Amazon’s site that gets you a Fire TV Stick 4K and an Echo Dot for just $79.98 total. That means you’re basically paying just $29.99 for the Fire TV Stick, which is unheard-of outside of Black Friday and Prime Day. If you’re in the market for both devices, definitely take advantage!

Fire TV Stick 4K bundle with Echo Dot (3rd Gen – Charcoal): $79.98

Here’s some more info from the product page on Amazon:

  • Fire TV Stick 4K is the most powerful 4K streaming media stick with a Wi-Fi antenna design optimized for 4K Ultra HD streaming. Enjoy brilliant picture with access to 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Vision, HDR, and HDR10+.
  • Choose from 500,000 movies and TV episodes. Watch favorites from Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video, STARZ, SHOWTIME, CBS All Access, and others.
  • Use the Alexa Voice Remote with dedicated power, volume, and mute buttons to control your compatible TV, soundbar, and receiver.
  • Echo Dot is our most popular voice-controlled speaker, now with improved sound and a new design.
  • Do more with Alexa. From across the room, ask Alexa to play music, read the news, check the weather, set alarms, control compatible smart home devices, and help with other requests.

Surprise Xbox Series X specs reveal tells us Sony might keep its best PS5 feature a secret

Microsoft on Monday surprised gamers with a detailed Xbox Series X specs announcement. Like the Series X name and design reveal earlier this year, the specs announcement came unexpectedly. It revealed plenty of details about the upcoming console and confirmed some of the biggest Xbox Series X leaks in the process. The announcement put further pressure on Sony, which has yet to unveil the PS5 design or talk in detail about its specs and features. But when Sony does finally announce the PS5, it will probably avoid talking about the next-gen PlayStation 5 feature we want to learn about most.

$25 true wireless earbuds better than AirPods? You have to hear it to believe it

%name $25 true wireless earbuds better than AirPods? You have to hear it to believe it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple’s AirPods are the most popular true wireless earbuds in the world right now. And with constant discounts like the sale on Amazon right now that slashes AirPods to $139, they’ll undoubtedly continue to be best-sellers for the foreseeable future. Regular AirPods 2 are $20 off right now, and Amazon is slashes $30 off AirPods 2 with Apple’s Wireless Charging Case. Those are both excellent deals and the lowest prices you’ll find out there right now, but there’s another sale you should consider before you pull the trigger and pick up new AirPods.

Apple AirPods with Charging Case (Latest Model): $139.00

Apple AirPods with Wireless Charging Case (Latest Model): $169.00

We’ve covered the popular SoundPEATS TrueCapsule Wireless Earbuds several times here at BGR Deals, and they have routinely been best-sellers among our readers.

They have a design similar to AirPods and they even have touch control like AirPods so you can launch your voice assistant simply by tapping on one of the earphones. Sound quality is great and battery life is impressive, but the real kicker here is the price — use the coupon code 8PK6E688 at checkout and you’ll only pay $24.64! That’s a new all-time low price, but it won’t last long.

SoundPEATS TrueCapsule Wireless Earbuds TWS Bluetooth Earphones in-Ear Mono/Stereo Bluetooth 5.…: $24.64 (use code 8PK6E688 by 3/5)

Wondering what people have to say about the TrueCapsule earbuds? Check out this review:

I’m gonna start by saying that I do own several pairs of these headphones (different models). initially, I got them because I was sick of losing on braking expensive headphone on my motorcycle or bicycle, so I decided to go cheap just because of that reason. I still have a pair of jaybird’s that I use for movies and at home. I did review the other head I own from soundpeats, all with the conclusion of they’re pretty good for the money battery is excellent but the sound is ok and justified for the price. but then something happened I lost one of the pods of my previous true wireless and I bought this pair now these guys have filled the blanks here the battery life is excellent the Bluetooth signal is great they have a pairing button which was a struggle on the previous headphone and the sound is really good very very close to my 200 dollar jaybird which was something the previous models could not achieve the best part is that the price is the same. still good for the money but now there is no sacrificing your sound because of the price.

And this one:

This is my third pair of SoundPEATS earbuds (I’ve also used the Q34 and Q35s), but this new pair has become my favorite. They are very comfortable, very light, and sound great.
Pairing is very easy – as soon as you pull them from their case they enter pairing mode. After you connect to them, they stay paired until you put them back down in the case. From then on, they automatically power on and reconnect as soon as you remove them from the case, usually connecting before you get them in your ear.
The sound quality is good, they are great for listening to podcasts, pretty good for listening to music. They stay put while jogging, jumping rope, etc.
Overall, they’re a great wireless earbud for the price!

There are plenty more where those came from, but now it’s time to find out for yourself how impressive these TWS earbuds are.

Apple will surprise everyone with a new iPhone next month, and now we know even more about it

%name Apple will surprise everyone with a new iPhone next month, and now we know even more about it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There’s a new iPhone in the works, and I’m not even talking about Apple’s iPhone 12 series that’s coming in September with a tweaked design and 5G connectivity. It’s a different kind of iPhone, the device you’ve been waiting for Apple to make since 2017. Well, it’s probably in 2018 that you realized you needed this phone because that’s when Apple stopped releasing new iPhones with Touch ID support. The iPhone 8 was the last such device, as Apple moved to Face ID authentication instead — it’s the iPhone X design combined with the immaturity of in-screen fingerprint-sensing tech that dictated the change. While the iPhone 8 stayed in inventory, and it’s currently the cheapest iPhone you can buy from Apple, it did not receive any upgrades. It’s still rocking 2017-grade hardware, which is still superior to 2017 and 2018 flagship Android hardware, but not as future-proof as you might want it to be.

An increasing number of reports over the last few months claimed that the iPhone 8 will get a successor this year, a device that we’ve been calling iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 9 until recently when we learned that Apple might do something unexpected with the device when it comes to naming. The “iPhone” should hit stores in early April after a late March reveal, and we have increasing evidence that retailers are getting ready for the new device. And new reports say the iPhone will come in as many as six different colors.

The Galaxy S20 is one of the hottest phones you can buy right now, although there’s one good reason to avoid it for a couple of months. The Galaxy S20 is actually a series of three flagship devices, all sporting the same core specs, and design, with the camera system on their back featuring the biggest differences. But you only need a few minutes with the gorgeous S20 to realize it’s got the perfect size and weight, especially compared to the huge S20 Ultra, which happens to be the best of the series overall. NASA sent the InSight robot to Mars with a number of objectives in mind. Since its time on the planet, the robot has become the first Martian weatherman and done its best to jam its probe into a Mars hole that just isn’t cooperating. It’s also been listening intently to the inner workings of the planet, which is largely why it carries the “InSight’ moniker, and NASA just shared some of its biggest findings with the world.

InSight’s sensitive instruments can listen in to the rumbles happening deep below the Martian surface. Detecting so-called “Marsquakes” isn’t easy, but scientists have gotten pretty good at separating true Marsquake signals from other data that might be the result of wind or other environmental quirks.
