Laptop users who live and die by the reliable ThinkPad brand are probably used to upgrading their hardware every few years, and if 2020 is that year for you, then you should know the Chinese PC maker has a new line of ThinkPad notebooks out. As expected, the new models all feature the brand new 10th-gen Intel chips that will power virtually every new laptop on the market, and support for AMD Ryzen Pro 4000 Mobile support is coming to some of the new lines. However, that’s not even the biggest change for the new ThinkPads.

Mark Ruffalo says Kevin Feige almost left Marvel over a lack of diversity in the MCU

In almost any endeavor, being right enough times provides you sufficient capital to take on bigger risks in spite of the higher stakes that come with them. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige — the guy who shepherded the most successful movie franchise in the world into existence and who’s been a producer attached to every MCU movie all the way back to the beginning — put that principle to the test early on. Back around the time of the first Avengers movie, in fact, which came out in 2012.

The MCU was starting to establish a solid base of fans for the movies about comic book heroes at the same time it was starting to attract a knock that showed no signs of going away anytime soon: The stars seemed to be all white guys. In a little-known behind-the-scenes moment, however, Feige was already laying the groundwork for that to change. Paving the way, as a matter of fact, for future heroes like Black Panther and Captain Marvel to get their time to shine in movies of their own.

NASA needs your help to design a Venus rover

%name NASA needs your help to design a Venus rover by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA does its best to involve the public in its various projects and missions, probably because it knows how much we all love science and space, but when it comes to actually design the hardware that will go on to explore other worlds, those jobs are usually kept in-house. That trend might be changing with the ongoing development of a rover destined for Venus.

The space agency wants the public’s input to help design a sensor that could work within the design of a rugged rover that would eventually call Venus home. NASA needs an obstacle avoidance sensor that could be installed on its would-be Venus rover, and it’s willing to pay $30,000 for a viable concept.

The most exciting Xbox Series X reveal of the week has nothing to do with powerful specs

%name The most exciting Xbox Series X reveal of the week has nothing to do with powerful specs by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Microsoft surprised gamers all over the world with a massive info dump about the Xbox Series X on Monday morning. Many of the features and specifications that fans had been speculating about were suddenly confirmed, and although this was certainly an exciting development, the raw power of the next-gen console didn’t come as much of a surprise. That said, there were a few surprises sprinkled in the blog post, one of which blew us away.

When the Xbox One and PS4 debuted in 2013, there were still triple-A console games coming out for Xbox 360 and PS3. In order to make the transition easier, publishers were launching old-gen and new-gen versions of their games, such as Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and Battlefield 4. The problem was that if you wanted to play the new Call of Duty on your Xbox One or PS4 when you upgraded, you’d need to buy it again. This is where Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system comes into play, simplifying the transition process even further.

This new Android phone is a great Galaxy S20 alternative if you don’t mind missing out on Google’s apps

%name This new Android phone is a great Galaxy S20 alternative if you don’t mind missing out on Google’s apps by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

MWC might have been canceled, but the avalanche of new smartphone announcements continues. Sony and Realme already unveiled their own alternatives to the Galaxy S20 series: the Xperia 1 II and the Realme X50 Pro. Both are 5G phones, and both offer high-end specs, just like Samsung’s flagships. The X50 Pro, however, is going to beat both the new Xperia and the S20 on price, starting at around $600.

Those aren’t the only affordable Galaxy S20 alternatives hitting stores soon, of course, but this affordable flagship is only good for you if you don’t care about Google’s apps and services.

World’s top Apple insider says ARM-based Macs are coming next year

Apple has something of an obsession with owning as much of the underlying technology in its products as possible. With that in mind, we’ve seen a handful of rumors over the past few years detailing Apple’s interest in lessening its reliance upon Intel and designing ARM-based chips for future laptop models.

While rumors of Apple’s interest in designing its own ARM-based chips for the Mac stretch back a few years, concrete details have predictably been hard to come by. That said, a new research report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo finally provides us with something of a launch window for these rumored Macs.

‘The Matrix 4’ filming has basically turned downtown San Francisco into a war zone

%name ‘The Matrix 4’ filming has basically turned downtown San Francisco into a war zone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

“Beware,” reads the large warning on a white sign standing near one particular street corner in downtown San Francisco. “Low flying aircraft & simulated gunfire activity in area.”

San Francisco residents and visitors, by now, are getting used to the notion that one of the most hotly anticipated sci-fi movies — the long-awaited fourth installment in the Matrix franchise — is filming now in the city, something that’s given people tons of opportunities to catch a glimpse of (and a selfie with) star Keanu Reeves. Indeed, that’s turning into a bit of a sport for not only residents but also visitors from neighboring cities and states, with at least one couple from Pacifica telling a local news crew they drove in to try and spot the star. For other people, though, it’s the helicopter and explosions, which have turned the city’s downtown into a faux war zone, that’s been just as memorable.

NASA just recreated Apollo 13’s Moon journey in stunning 4K

%name NASA just recreated Apollo 13’s Moon journey in stunning 4K by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA’s Apollo 13 was one of the space agency’s most incredible missions into space. With a goal of landing on the Moon, the mission hit a colossal snag when a spacecraft malfunction blew it off course and threatened the lives of the three-man crew. It took an around-the-clock effort to bring them back alive, and was ultimately deemed a “successful failure.”

It was a trying time for the space agency as well as the astronauts aboard the doomed spacecraft. Rather than landing on the Moon, the crew used the Moon’s gravity to slingshot the spacecraft around and make a quick flight back to Earth. It wasn’t what anyone had planned, but it did provide the men with a glorious, up-close look at the Moon.

Huawei’s new Mate Xs is better than its predecessor in every way, save for one fatal flaw

%name Huawei’s new Mate Xs is better than its predecessor in every way, save for one fatal flaw by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Huawei unveiled the Mate X foldable at MWC 2019, the innovative handset stole the show.

It was easily the best commercial foldable phone we had seen to that point, which wasn’t hard to accomplish, considering that Samsung had only unveiled the Galaxy Fold a few days before Huawei’s event. Cut to 2020, and the Chinese smartphone vendor has just unveiled the Mate X successor during an event that would have taken place during MWC 2020, were it not for the coronavirus outbreak that led to the cancellation of the show. As expected, the Mate Xs is better in every way than its predecessor, save for one fatal flaw.

One of the prevailing international storylines in the smartphone industry over the past few months has been the US government’s ban of Huawei devices, which has forced Huawei to look beyond Android for a mobile operating system to run on its new phones. We’ve heard Huawei’s side of the story, and the Chinese vendor has since unveiled its own multiplatform OS, but Google recently took to its support forum to answer questions about the ban.
