Elon Musk and Jay Leno took a spin in Tesla’s new Cybertruck for an upcoming episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.
The episode will air this Wednesday but a preview clip surfaced online earlier today.
Tesla’s cheapest Cybertruck model will be priced at $39,900.

Tesla has a few intriguing vehicles in the pipeline, but no vehicle has elicited more hype and intrigue than the Cybertruck, the company’s first foray into the world of pickup trucks. Originally unveiled this past November, Tesla’s Cybertruck truly looks like nothing we’ve ever seen before. Elon Musk certainly wasn’t kidding when he said the truck would boast a “futuristic cyberpunk” and Blade Runner-esque design.

The Cybertruck release date, at this point, remains a bit up in the air given that the cheapest Cybertruck model has already been pushed back to 2023. And given Tesla’s history with product delays, it remains to be seen if the pricier models become available sometime in 2022 as initially planned. In the interim, public Cybertruck sightings over the past few months have become a bit more frequent as Tesla continues to test prototypes.

A coronavirus-flu comparison of lung tissue from people who died of both diseases shows that COVID-19 is significantly worse than the flu.
The novel coronavirus can cause severe damage at the blood vessel level, including to the capillaries in the lungs, which can significantly reduce a lung’s ability to function.
The new study confirms previous findings that blood clotting might be a significant coronavirus symptom that can go undetected and is unlike what happens during a flu infection.

When news first began coming out about an infectious disease from China, the novel coronavirus was immediately likened to the regular flu. It shared the same common symptoms, which made it impossible to diagnose without a test, including fever, coughing, and shortness of breath. It seemed to be far less deadly than it turned out to be. But it wasn’t long before the world realized that COVID-19 wasn’t anything like the flu. Not only is it highly contagious, but it causes all sorts of symptoms that you wouldn’t see with other respiratory diseases and it has a much higher fatality rate. What’s even worse is that we still don’t have a course of treatment for COVID-19, unlike the flu, which makes it even more dangerous. If all of that wasn’t enough, researchers have produced even more evidence showing why the new illness is so much worse than the flu.

Netflix is rounding out the month of May with 10 new shows, movies, and specials this week.
Space Force is the heavy-hitter of the week, starring Steve Carell, John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Jessica St. Clair, Ben Schwartz, and Fred Willard, and it was created by The Office’s Greg Daniels.
Following up on her viral smash hit Nanette, Hannah Gadsby is back with a new comedy special.

May has been a great month for comedy fans with Netflix subscriptions. We’ve already gotten three long-form improv specials from Thomas Middleditch and Ben Schwartz, Jerry Seinfeld’s first comedy special in years, a brilliant Patton Oswalt special, a movie starring David Spade, and an interactive Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt movie.

But perhaps the most exciting release of all is coming on Friday, as Steve Carell and The Office creator Greg Daniels reunite for a show called Space Force mocking Donald Trump’s new branch of the military.

A new study looking at the novel coronavirus on surfaces shows the importance of PPE for frontliners caring for COVID-19 patients.
Researchers used black light and a special substance to demonstrate exposure to a pathogen and proved that even PPE can’t always keep people safe from a virus.
The study is consistent with previous experiments that used similar techniques to prove that the novel coronavirus can spread from human to human by touch and reach all sorts of surfaces.

The CDC changed its guidelines a few days ago to make it clear that the primary way the novel coronavirus can spread is from person to person. COVID-19 transmission from surfaces and objects is less likely, but it’s not impossible. The virus can survive on a variety of surfaces, several studies showed, and it’s enough to get it on your hands and then to your eyes, mouth, or nose to risk infecting yourself with the virus.

That’s why everyone should be wearing masks and keeping their distance from other people. Hand washing should be a priority, and you should avoid touching your face at all costs. A new study shows exactly how easy it is for the novel coronavirus to spread, even from surfaces, if the right conditions are met.

A team of scientists from the United States and Hong Kong has built a “bionic eye’ that mimics a human eye in shape and function.
The eye, currently in its prototype stage, could one day be used as a prosthetic to restore vision in blind people.
The scientists note that the eye could also be used in the realm of AI and robotics.

Scientists from the US and Hong Kong have developed a synthetic eye that functions a lot like the real thing. With sensors that mimic the photoreceptors found in a human eye, the new “bionic” prototype could one day be used to restore vision in individuals that have lost their sight.

Referred to as a “biomimetic eye” by the research team, the device is a marriage of modern technology and nature’s own designs. It consists of a hemispherical artificial retina and an array of sensors that capture and relay a live image. Getting it to interface with a human brain is, well, pretty complicated.

A Mississippi church burning this week served as the latest flashpoint as coronavirus-related restrictions on gatherings around the country continue to generate extreme reactions and protests.
Local officials in Holly Springs, Mississippi, suspect the church burning was the work of an arsonist.
President Trump on Friday called for churches to be allowed to reopen immediately.

The smoldering embers left from a small-town Mississippi church fire this week — which authorities believe was the work of an arsonist due to parking lot graffiti that read: “Bet you stay home now you hypokrits” — comprise one of the starkest examples to date of how coronavirus-related strictures are prompting outlandish reactions in opposition to them.

The First Pentecostal Church in Holly Springs was burned down on Wednesday, about a month after a lawsuit was filed on behalf of the church against the coronavirus-related restrictions on large gatherings in the city. “We’ve kind of racked our brains and we have no idea,” church pastor Jerry Waldrop told reporters. “No enemies that we know of. We don’t know anyone that we even think could be capable of doing something like this.”

One of the most-watched shows on Netflix this week is Dead To Me, a show about two grieving women who become friends which debuted its second season on the streamer earlier this month.
Rounding out the list of what else is hot at the moment are familiar favorites that range from Money Heist to Ozark, Breaking Bad, and Stranger Things.
This week’s list of the hottest TV shows on Netflix comes, as always, from the team at Reelgood.

On paper, you could argue that the sophomore season of Dead to Me which debuted on Netflix earlier this month doesn’t sound too much like the kind of hit series you’d expect a frustrated and traumatized public that’s going stir-crazy at home would want to binge in their free time during a months-long global pandemic. You’d be wrong, though, because not only is Dead to Me Season 2 — which stars Linda Cardellini and Christina Applegate — one of the most-watched shows on Netflix right now according to the weekly rankings we track. Its popularity also reflects two important truths about Netflix itself.

One of which is that, in case you needed any reminder, the streamer is masterful in its ability to create durable new TV franchises from scratch, whether it’s a docu-series like Tiger King, a raunchy reality show like Too Hot to Handle, or buzzy dramas that have global appeal, like Money Heist. The second thing is that it continues to be true that, especially during the time of the coronavirus, people are desperate for great storytelling from the entertainment mediums they support with their subscription dollars. Whether those stories offer up ridiculous central characters like a gun-toting exotic animal showman embroiled in a murder-for-hire plot, or two women who bond during therapy while each is grieving.

Coronavirus vaccine candidate Ad5-nCoV from Chinese pharmaceutical company CanSino is both safe and effective, according to the results of a Phase 1 clinical trial.
Researchers looking at 108 healthy volunteers who received the test drug in mid-March found the vaccine generates the kind of immune response that can kill the novel coronavirus.
The side-effects were mild and transitory, suggesting that the coronavirus treatment is safe to use. The Ad5-nCov drug has now moved to the next phase of clinical trials.

The coronavirus health crisis is still ravaging countries around the world. As European countries and US states start reopening, the virus is still raging in other countries, with South America and Russia being new epicenters for the disease. Even China locked down another region due to COVID-19 worries, and experts warn that a second wave is inevitable. The World Health Organization (WHO) said COVID-19 might be here to stay, but that’s not as bad as it sounds. An increasing number of therapies have yielded positive results, and researchers are quickly coming up with two other treatment avenues that might work. Some of them are working on antibody drugs that would work just like plasma transfusions from COVID-19 survivors, and others are creating vaccines that would hopefully train your immune system to produce its own antibodies capable of neutralizing the virus.

A series of reports in the past few days detailed the progress made so far on the vaccine front, with drugs from Oxford and Moderna showing promising results in pre-clinical and early-stage clinical trials. These are just two of the more than 100 vaccine candidates in development, and more than 12 drugs that reached clinical trials. They’re also not the only ones to show promise, as another promising vaccine candidate made in China appears to be safe and effective.

Every season of all-time classics Mad Men and Cheers will be gone by the end of June.

If I had to pick the most impactful show that I discovered through Netflix, it wouldn’t be BoJack Horseman, Stranger Things, Mindhunter, or any of the other awesome original series that have debuted on the service over the years. No, the show that shot to the top of my list of all-time favorites after I watched it from start to finish on Netflix was Cheers. While some people discovered The Office, Parks and Recreation, Friends, or Schitt’s Creek for the first time on the world’s most popular streaming service, my classic sitcom of choice was slightly more ancient.

If, for whatever reason, you have never given Cheers a chance, I’m begging you to reconsider before it leaves Netflix. It’s astounding how well Cheers holds up almost 40 years after its premiere, and once it grabs you, you won’t be able to stop until you’ve watched all 11 seasons. Thankfully, you have a whole month to watch it, too.
