Apple is expected to unveil a brand new iPhone model next month, the handset many of you have been asking for. Often referred to as the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2, it’ll be an updated iPhone 8 that will sport both a Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Apple’s powerful A13 chip found inside the iPhone 11 series.

Leaks have been referring to this phone as iPhone SE 2 and iPhone 9, and both of those names make some sense. This iPhone 8-like device will be Apple’s most affordable handset since the iPhone SE, and it’ll have the same design as the iPhone 8. However, neither iPhone SE 2 nor iPhone 9 are ideal naming options, and Apple has been struggling with iPhone naming schemes in recent years. Now, a new leak says Apple has a different product name in mind for the upcoming 4.7-inch handset, and it would be a huge surprise that no one saw coming.

There’s definitely no PS5 surprise coming next week

%name There’s definitely no PS5 surprise coming next week by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Sony was widely expected to copy its PlayStation 4 launch schedule for the PS5 in 2020 and unveil the new console during a PlayStation Meeting press conference in February. That hasn’t happened so far, and the PlayStation 5 announcement will likely come at a much later date. Unlike the PS4 in 2013, there’s one huge difference that’s impacting Sony’s schedule, and that’s the coronavirus threat that already prompted the company’s mobile division to pull out of MWC 2020 well before the congress was officially canceled. And now Sony’s PlayStation arm decided it won’t attend PAX East either, due to the same concerns over the COVID-19 virus outbreak.

The $23 Wyze Cam has a killer feature you won’t get with a $200 Nest Cam

%name The $23 Wyze Cam has a killer feature you won’t get with a $200 Nest Cam by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There are plenty of popular product segments out there in the smart home space, but we’re not sure any of them are quite as popular as home security cameras. You pretty much can’t load a single page on Amazon or any other retailer without seeing 10 different cameras from 10 different brands. The Nest Cam has been among the most popular options out there for years now, but we’re here to tell you that it’s just not a smart purchase anymore. It’s that simple. There are a bunch of better options to be found these days, and today we’re going to tell you about our favorite one while it’s on sale at a discount.

At $26 shipped, the Wyze Cam 1080p HD Indoor Wireless Smart Home Camera is already an absolute steal. It has all the basic features you’d expect like night vision, 2-way audio, 1080p resolution, motion detection, and more. On top of all that though, you also get 14 days of free cloud storage. The $200 Nest Cam doesn’t even offer that! $26 is indeed a great price, but 2-packs are on sale right now on Amazon for just $46.80. That works out to $23.40 per camera, which is an unbelievable value.

Check out this great review from Amazon to see how much people love the Wyze Cam:

Ok my family has an Arlo, Nest, and now Wyze. Nest was my first camera at $180 for 1 camera. I hated that it didn’t record for long unless you paid for the service and also that it wasn’t wireless. The Arlo I installed in my moms home it records for a week is wireless and rechargeable, but comes with a hefty price tag of $600 for 3 camera set up. I wanted 2 more cameras and saw that the Wyze had good reviews. I thought for $25 a camera how could I lose and I’m so glad I did I bought it. These are for my first impressions. I haven’t played with it long enough to really give you more detail. There is a user-friendly ap and I have an IPhone XS the use of the ap and the quality of the pictures is pretty damn good for $25. Check out my pictures. I do have the Wyze camera and Nest camera behind glass windows. For the reviewers who complained that it doesn’t turn off and it records them naked….look I have dogs and I primarily use this to check on my new puppy. I wouldn’t install a camera where I would be walking around naked. Whether I could turn off the system or not. Sure it can deter burglars but I have a 90lb German Shepherd whose bark can make your skin crawl. I don’t necessarily need to record but this camera has that option with the additional purchase of an SD card. I have to dock it a bit because it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of the Arlo. It isn’t wireless and it doesn’t record the way the Arlo does but I don’t really need that option. Look where this camera lacks it makes up in price. I just ordered 2 more. Also too bad it’s not for outdoor use but my cameras I mount inside in front of windows. It can reach super high temperatures where I live and I don’t want to risk my Nest came melting on me. I installed a set of baxia solar powered lights and for under $200 I have a home security system with 4 cameras, recording capability and excellent image quality.

Apple might finally let you set third-party browsers and email apps as defaults on iPhone and iPad

%name Apple might finally let you set third party browsers and email apps as defaults on iPhone and iPad by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple’s walled garden approach to its mobile operating system has served it well for the past decade and change, but one of those walls might be in danger of collapsing. Bloomberg reports that Apple is currently deciding whether or not it should allow iOS users to set third-party web browser and email apps as their default options, overriding Safari and the Mail app whenever they click a link to open a website or send an email.

Third-party apps have been available from the App Store since its inception in 2008, but Apple has never given iOS users the choice to decide which app they want to serve as the default. In recent years, this has been scrutinized by lawmakers who are probing antitrust violations in the industry, which might explain the timing.

Brand new iPads really shouldn’t be as cheap as they are today on Amazon

%name Brand new iPads really shouldn’t be as cheap as they are today on Amazon by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you’ve been searching for great iPad deals and holding out for the best bargain you can possibly find, today is your lucky day because it’s been ages since we’ve seen Apple’s latest and greatest iPads on sale as cheap as they are right now.

First up, Amazon is running a killer sale that slashes Apple’s newest iPad model, the 10.2-inch iPad, to as little as $249 for the 32GB model. This is one of the smoothest and sleekest tablets you can buy, and it’s packed with all of Apple’s latest tech. It even works with the Apple Pencil, which is new for the iPad lineup. People tend to drool over the iPad Pro, and it’s obviously a fantastic device. But it’s also about three times more expensive than this iPad and it’s only worth it if you truly have a genuine need for all that oomph. Or, if you want a big upgrade that’s not quite as expensive as the iPad Pro, the newest 10.5-inch iPad Air is also on sale at Amazon with discounts up to $52.

New Apple iPad (10.2-Inch)

  • The new iPad combines the power and capability of a computer with the ease of use and versatility you’d never expect from one. And now it’s even more versatile, with a larger 10.2‑inch Retina display, support for the full-size Smart Keyboard, and the amazing new capabilities of iPadOS. It’s unbelievably fun. And unmistakably iPad.
  • With iPad, getting work done is all hustle and no hassle. You can easily edit a document while researching something on the web and making a FaceTime call to a colleague at the same time. Manage all your files in one convenient spot with the Files app. And when you want to write a term paper or create a presentation, you can simply use the onscreen keyboard or attach the full‑size Smart Keyboard.
  • From taking notes in class to writing out a quick to-do list, using Apple Pencil with iPad is the best way to get what’s in your brain down on the page. Do things like sign paperwork, mark up a document, or sketch out an idea. It feels as natural to use as a pencil, but with so much more capability.
  • Let your curiosity run wild with iPad. The App Store is the best place to discover apps that let you get a leg up in geometry, learn a new language, and practice composing your own music. You can even use augmented reality to learn something exciting, like watching the history of spaceflight unfold in your living room or making characters from your favorite book literally leap off the page.
  • It’s go time for gaming. The A10 Fusion chip delivers amazing performance, so games are immersive, fluid, and incredibly detailed. And you can pair an Xbox Wireless Controller with Bluetooth, PlayStation DualShock 4 controller, or MFi game controller with your iPad to create the ultimate portable game console. You can also try out Apple Arcade, a game subscription service unlike any other, with over 100 incredibly fun new games to play.
  • iPad lets you express your creative ideas in so many ways. Whether you’re painting a watercolor, designing a logo, or just sketching up a storm, Apple Pencil is the perfect tool to bring your vision to life. It’s designed to feel intuitive and let you draw with pixel‑perfect precision.

Netflix will release 55 new original movies and TV shows in March – here’s the full list

%name Netflix will release 55 new original movies and TV shows in March – here’s the full list by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s so fantastic that we now live in a day and age when Netflix can release 40 new original movies, TV shows, and specials over the course of a month — and that month is considered by fans to be slow! That’s exactly what’s happening in February, which is indeed Netflix’s lightest month in over a year when it comes to the sheer volume of new original content added to the company’s catalog. Thankfully, there are some excellent additions to make up for the low volume, like the new fantasy show Locke & Key and Narcos Mexico season 2. If you want to make sure you don’t miss anything, be sure to check out our roundup of every new original movie and show coming to Netflix in February.

Of course, February is almost over so now it’s time to turn our attention to March. If you were upset that Netflix slowed things down this month, you’ll be happy to know that Netflix’s March release schedule is jam-packed full of new original series, movies, comedy specials, and more. A grand total of 55 different originals will hit the leading streamer over the course of the month, and there are plenty of huge premieres for subscribers to look forward to.

It’s difficult to even know where to start when covering the hot new releases you have to look forward to, so we’ll cover them chronologically beginning with season 3 of Castlevania coming on March 5th. Seven more Netflix originals will be released just one day later on March 6th, and there’s one in particular that should be on your radar: Spenser Confidential. That’s right, Mark Wahlberg finally has his own action movie on Netflix. Other big releases to look forward to include a new Marc Maron comedy special, season 2 of Kingdom, season 3 of Elite, season 3 of The Boss Baby: Back in Business, and plenty more. Then there’s the single most hotly-anticipated arrival of March 2020, which Netflix is saving for the end of the month. That’s right, Jason Bateman is finally returning for season 3 of Ozark, and it’s shaping up to be incredible.

Last chance to get the wireless camera that lets your smartphone see anywhere for $29

%name Last chance to get the wireless camera that lets your smartphone see anywhere for $29 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The DEPSTECH WF010 Wireless Borescope Inspection Camera is on sale at a great price right now on Amazon, and we just told you about it earlier this week. So why are we telling you again? Simple, it’s because this is one of the most popular smartphone accessories ever among our readers and it’s on sale right now within spitting distance of its lowest price.

If you’re unfamiliar with how these little gadgets work, prepare to be wowed. The WF010 connects wirelessly to your iPhone or Android phone and transforms it into a remote viewfinder. Snake the camera into just about anything — even into water, since it’s waterproof — and you’ll see what’s happening on your phone. You can snap still photos and record video if you want, so the possibilities are endless. It also comes with hook and magnet attachments for grabbing keys or jewelry from tight spaces, and a mirror attachment so you can see around corners!

This awesome device is the company’s best-selling model and it sells for $36. Clip the coupon on the product page, however, and you’ll only pay $28.79. Of course, if you want to step things up a bit, you can always upgrade to the DEPSTECH WF060 Wireless Borescope Inspection Camera instead. It has a dramatically improved 5-megapixel camera with zoom, and it’s 16.5 feet long as opposed to 11.5 feet. The retail price on this model is a hefty $66, but you can clip the 25% coupon and get it for only $49.49. Both of these coupons will disappear before the end of the day, so hurry or you’ll miss out.

DEPSTECH Wireless Endoscope, 5.0MP Ultra-Thin HD Borescope, Zoomable Snake Inspection Camera wi…: $49.49

Check out this review from the product page for some great notes on how useful this device can be:

This is my third endoscope. By far this is the best. It has the right amount of stiffness for most jobs. My other units would typically need me to tape stiff wire along the cable to get stiffness.

It is a bit fussy connecting to the wifi, and if the unit turns off you have to reconnect to the wifi. But there are advantages that I think make it worth it. For one thing, both my son and I could connect at the same time. He was fishing the endoscope through, and I was watching as it moved. I was able to spot things that he was missing as he concentrated on the mechanics of moving. I can also see where it would be handy if you wanted to monitor a situation. For example, set it up at a spot in the pipe and then go and turn on water. Or you could position it in a crevice and use your phone to monitor for rodents.

As someone else noted, with the light on full the battery only lasts a few minutes. But there are a couple of offsetting factors. One is that you probably will not run the lights at full power, even if you are probing in total darkness. Full brightness tends to wash out the detail The other is that you can hook up any external battery pack you would use for a cell phone. Or you can even plug it into a wall charger. The unit will run as long as it is getting external power.

The tools come in a little container. That is very nice. It is also good that they screw on securely instead of snapping on. I have lost tools because they snapped off in a drain. The tools are not perfect. They are all plastic. I am used to long, thin metal hooks. This one is shorter than the focal length; I would like it to be at least as long as the focal length. It is also plastic and seems flimsy. I do like to keep the hook attached as the default. I find that in a lot of cases it helps guide the scope and gives a frame of reference.

The instructions say to change the resolution. I ignored that at first, but once I reset the scope’s resolution to match my phone the picture quality and apparent depth of field improved dramatically.

It’s only February, but the first Pixel 5 leaks are already here. In a matter of days, we saw the first Pixel 5 render that suggested Google is working on a unique triple-lens camera system and heard a disturbing rumor that said the Pixel 5 might come with mid-range specs on board rather than flagship components. A different rumor said Verizon might not even carry upcoming Pixel phones, including the Pixel 4a and Pixel 5, just as Google released its first Android 11 build. That’s the Developer Preview release, a beta that’s better suited for developers rather than regular Android users — the first Android 11 public beta will drop in May after Google’s I/O 2020 event. While Google will unveil Android 11’s new features in May, the developer preview already contains a few features that give us an idea of what to expect from Pixel 5.

One of the worst feelings in the world is when you realize you haven’t backed up your phone, computer or laptop until it’s too late. It’s something we may take for granted, as not many of us think that we need to save all of our data frequently. Having that sinking feeling when you realize you may not be able to see your photos or documents again is a haunting experience. You may think the process of backing up your life is complicated and overly expensive. However, with the help of j5create, that couldn’t be further from the truth.

If you are a gamer, a photographer, or an early adopter looking for a portable external storage option that saves on loading times, the palm sized NVMe SSD is the perfect choice to suit your needs. The j5create JEE256 USB-C to M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure connects your M.2 NVMe SSD to a USB-C device for tasks such as file backup, disk upgrade, disk clone, data recovery and storage expansion. With the JEE256, you can easily back up, restore and save your most important files. The Enclosure is compatible with four different sizes: M.2 NVMe SSD 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 (M Key) solid-state drivers, offering your more flexibility. The JEE256 also gives you the option to repurpose your old NVMe SSD into extra storage.

Compared to a typical external hard drive, the compact and lightweight JEE256 is a perfect travel accessory if you have a laptop that doesn’t have an M.2 socket available.

It takes no time at all to set up, as you just need to use the included rubber fasteners to secure your M.2 SSD drives onto the board. The JEE256 is completely plug and play, with no tools or drivers required. You won’t have to worry about overheating, as the Enclosure is made from smooth aluminum and includes two side vents designed for efficient heat dissipation. The rubber retention peg can be adjusted to match different kinds of M.2 NVMe SSD.

With the reversible USB-C connector, the JEE256 achieves comprehensive compatibility with most major operating systems, including Windows®, macOS®, Linux® and Chrome OS. You can access your files from any USB-C compatible device with this enclosure. For more information, be sure to visit the JEE256 product page.
