We still have no idea when Sony will finally reveal the PlayStation 5. If you look back at some of the more embarrassing product launches in tech history, Samsung is a name that keeps on popping up again and again. Of course, there was the fiasco that was the Galaxy Note 7, a device that was quite literally prone to catching fire and, in some cases, exploding and injuring unsuspecting users. More recently, the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold was pushed back after nearly all early review units broke just a few hours into testing.

Though Samsung ultimately released the Galaxy Fold a few months later, the device didn’t exactly instill confidence that foldable smartphones represent the wave of the future. While foldable smartphones are intriguing and novel, there’s a strong case to be made that the design is effectively a solution for a problem that doesn’t actually exist. The most exciting Galaxy Z Flip leak so far concerns the phone’s screen. We’ve heard from multiple sources that the clamshell foldable launching next week will feature an ultra-thin glass cover on top of the OLED screen instead of plastic. That’s amazing news considering that the Fold’s plastic screen isn’t as durable as glass, not to mention that plastic screens are more prone to showing bumps and lumps, according to Motorola.

Since then, we’ve seen a trademark for Ultra-Thin Glass, which hinted that Samsung is indeed going to use the moniker for a new product — most likely the Z Flip. if you need even more evidence that the Z Flip will have a foldable glass screen, then a new leak directly from Sprint might convince you.

In just a few days, Samsung will unveil the entirety of its 2020 smartphone lineup at its annual Unpacked event. Set to go down on February 11, Samsung this year is poised to introduce a number of new devices, including a brand new foldable phone dubbed the Galaxy Z Flip and a successor to last year’s Galaxy S10. Interestingly enough, Samsung’s S10 successor will not be called the S11 but will instead be called the S20. I suppose it’s a clever marketing strategy to generate a bit more excitement for the company’s flagship Galaxy series.

Now what’s interesting about Samsung events is that they’re almost a formality insofar that every single detail about every new product the company introduces tends to leak out weeks ahead of time. Whereas Apple does everything in its power to keep product leaks at bay, Samsung seems to embrace them. Or, at the very least, Samsung doesn’t seem to make much of an effort to keep them from emerging. All that said, the full specs for Samsung’s Galaxy S20 5G recently made its way onto Twitter. While we’ve seen a few S20 leaks in weeks past, the latest leak appears to be something official from Samsung and provides us with even more detail than we’ve seen before.
