Disney+ has Netflix’s most annoying feature… but you can actually disable it

%name Disney+ has Netflix’s most annoying feature… but you can actually disable it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s impossible to avoid comparisons between Netflix and Disney+, the hot new service that has been packed to the gills from day one with top-tier content. Disney+ topped 10 million subscribers by the end of its first day of availability on November 12th, which is simply astounding, and its first marquee show — The Mandalorian — already has legions of obsessed fans. Disney+ is shockingly affordable at just $6.99 each month or $5.83 per month if you pay annually, and it was home to a whopping 639 different movies and shows right out of the gate (you can see the full list of launch titles right here). It also works on just about every device you can think of. Sure there were some bumps in the road on launch day when people were getting errors while trying to stream, but we’re surprised the entire service didn’t crash under the weight of all those users.

There’s no question whatsoever that Disney+ will be one of the most talked-about streaming services for the foreseeable future. There’s also no question that it’s the hottest new service of 2019, with Apple’s TV+ launch having been lackluster at best. Is it a real competitor to Netflix, though? There are certainly arguments on both sides, and it’s a topic that will continue to be discussed for years to come. In the meantime, there’s at least one way that Disney+ definitely has a leg up: A simple option you’ll find on Disney+ that has haunted Netflix users for years.

Amazon’s still offering Echo Dots for 99¢ in a deal so crazy, people thought it was a mistake

%name Amazon’s still offering Echo Dots for 99¢ in a deal so crazy, people thought it was a mistake by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

You know how there are some deals you should take advantage of without even thinking about it? Well, this is definitely one of those deals. Amazon is offering Prime members a $0.99 Echo Dot bundled with one month of its Amazon Music Unlimited service, which costs $7.99. That’s a total of just $8.98! Don’t have Prime and don’t want to sign up for a free 30-day trial? Don’t worry, because people without Prime can get the same bundle for $10.98. In either case, the AMU subscription will automatically renew each month, and if you’re smart you’ll probably keep it and ditch Spotify or Apple Music because it’s basically the same service for less money.

If you’d rather stick with what you know, that’s okay too — just go to this page anytime after you place your order and you can cancel Amazon Music Unlimited. You can literally do it 2 seconds after you place the order and you won’t have to worry about getting charged again for AMU, but you’ll still get to keep streaming for the rest of the month, and you’ll get to keep the $0.99 Echo Dot. This deal is available to any and all people who have never subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited before, but it’s only around for a limited time… and it’s so crazy that when it first popped up, everyone thought it was a mistake!

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) for $0.99 and 1 month of Amazon Music Unlimited for $7.99 with Auto-renewal…: $8.98

  • Listen offline with unlimited skips.
  • Our most popular smart speaker – with a fabric design and improved speaker for richer and louder sound.
  • Voice control your music – Stream songs from Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, Sirius XM, and others. You can also listen to audiobooks from Audible.

A brand new leak might tease a secret Galaxy S11 design feature

%name A brand new leak might tease a secret Galaxy S11 design feature by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Galaxy S11’s signature feature is expected to be the rear-facing camera, which is getting as many as five distinct sensors. That’s according to recent leaks that claim Samsung is going to incorporate a massive 108-megapixel sensor as well as a periscope zoom lens into the Galaxy S11 camera system. Samsung will make up to five different Galaxy S11 phones, other reports said, and not all of them are expected to get the same camera modules. The more expensive the phone, the better the camera you’re going to get. But if there’s one thing that’s going to be shared by all these S11 devices, that’s the overall design. All Galaxy S11 phones are supposed to feature Infinity-O screens with curved edges on the sides, and tiny top and bottom bezels. A new leak further reinforces that idea, suggesting the Galaxy S11 might have an exciting feature that’s yet to leak.

Former NASA engineer is back with a new glitter bomb booby trap for package thieves

Christmas is only a week away, which means we’re in the final throes of the holiday shopping frenzy. It’s the busiest time of the year for package delivery giants like FedEx and UPS — and also for package thieves, who are increasingly taking advantage of unattended boxes left on porches before their owners have returned home to bring them inside. Indeed, the prevalence of these porch pirates is part of the reason why tens of thousands of packages go missing in New York City alone every single day, according to The New York Times, and it’s why people keep taking certain steps like directing their holiday deliveries to their office address, instead, which brings its own challenges.

This is also why Mark Rober, a former NASA engineer who worked on the Curiosity Rover (and who’s now a viral sensation on YouTube) is back with a Home Alone-inspired booby trap meant to catch and deter these would-be thieves.

%name California beach was just invaded by an army of ‘penis fish’ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If there’s one image that perfectly sums up 2019, it’s an idyllic California beach covered in thousands of pink, pulsing “penis fish.” The photo you see above was snapped by one David Ford, who came across the bizarre sight during a recent stroll along Drakes Beach, north of San Francisco.

No, it’s not the result of a lost shipment of adult toys coming from overseas, it’s actually a whole heaping pile of bizarre sea creatures known as “fat innkeeper worms,” or, as they are also known, a “penis fish.” They certainly live up to their name, but why on Earth are they all piled up on this California beach? You have the weather to thank for that.

Ryan Reynolds’ cameo as himself in his Netflix movie is probably the best cameo ever

%name Ryan Reynolds’ cameo as himself in his Netflix movie is probably the best cameo ever by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Ryan Reynolds’ new Netflix movie launched on Friday. The Michael Bay action flick 6 Underground features lots of shooting, car chases and fighting. The film has an interesting premise — a tech billionaire fakes his death to right the wrongs of the world with five other highly-trained individuals — and could spawn sequels if it meets whatever targets Netflix has in place for it.

But while it’s great that you can watch 6 Underground from your own home, it’s not a must-see, best-in-class film. Sure, the action is entertaining, as is the humor, but the storyline isn’t perfect, and there are times when it’s difficult and even tiresome to follow. I won’t spoil any of the plot for you, I’ll just say it could have been much better. But maybe we don’t even need a better story from this Bay creation. It’s the fast-paced action that we’re after in 6 Underground. What I will spoil is a hilarious Ryan Reynolds cameo in the film that easily qualifies as one of the best cameos ever.

FBI busts two illegal streaming sites so massive they dwarf Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu

In spite of the fact that consumers now have an abundance of choice when it comes to streaming video services to pay for, there are still thousands of people, it seems, who would prefer to pay for an alternative to Netflix, Disney+ and the like. An illegal alternative.

Over the weekend, the US Justice Department, thanks to the work of FBI investigators, announced guilty pleas from two Las Vegas-based programmers accused of running massive illegal streaming sites. Sites so massive that at least one of them, a service called iStreamItAll, boasted more content than Netflix, Hulu, Vudu, and Amazon Prime, combined, according to the DOJ. Not only that, but the programmers were able to convince “tens of thousands” of people in the US to actually forgo legitimate sites like Netflix and pay to subscribe to their sketchy service instead.

Tesla stock soars amid word of a new tax credit expansion

Shares of Tesla skyrocketed today amid word that there may be an extension to the federal tax credit for EV purchases. By the end of trading on Monday, Tesla stock was up 23 points and closed out the day at $381. Notably, the $381 closing price marks a new all-time high for Tesla shares.

As we covered a few weeks back, the ability for Tesla buyers to take advantage of a federal tax credit is slowly but surely coming to a close. Whereas Tesla buyers a few years back were able to enjoy a $7,500 tax credit, that figure has since dropped down to $1,875 and is set to expire at the end of the month.
