Amazon has been the best place to shop this holiday season if you want to find the deepest discounts on the hottest products of the year. From Black Friday through Cyber Week and all the way to Green Monday earlier this week, the nation’s top online retailer has been offering killer bargains the likes of which we’ve never seen before. Examples of some of the best deals still out there right now include up to $30 off Apple AirPods 2 or AirPods Pro, a $30 credit when you buy a Nintendo Switch and use the promo code D3E2CDJ6GB6S at checkout, an Echo Dot bundled with a month of Amazon Unlimited Music for just $8.98 for Prime members or $11 if you don’t have Prime, the best Ring Doorbell bundle deals we’ve ever seen (like a $200 Ring Video Doorbell 2 and a $90 Echo Show 5 for just $139 or free Echo Sho 5 when you buy a $250 Ring Video Doorbell Pro for $229), tons of discounted Philips Hue LED smart bulbs, Black Friday pricing on Samsung microSD cards, the best prices on Bose headphones and speakers including the first discount ever on the Bose 700 wireless ANC headphones, $300 off Apple’s MacBook Air, and so much more.

All those deals and more are available right now, and you can check them all out in the company’s holiday 2019 deals hub. Of course, just because Amazon has the most notable deals of the season on popular products right now doesn’t mean it’s the only big retailer you should check out. Best Buy is running a massive sale of its own right now and it’s pretty much like Black Friday never ended. You can check out the entire sale right here on the Best Buy website, and you’ll find our picks for the retailer’s top 10 deals below.

We know that just about everything Anker makes is top-notch, but we really didn’t have any expectations the first time we tested one of Anker’s Soundcore speakers. Seriously… it blew us away. Microsoft has a silly answer for a serious Xbox Scarlett problem

%name Microsoft has a silly answer for a serious Xbox Scarlett problem by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A few days ago I told you that Microsoft is already losing a key battle against the PlayStation 5 and that’s brand recognition. Sony a few weeks ago confirmed what every PlayStation fan suspected, that the 2020 console will be called PlayStation 5 (PS5), which makes it a lot easier to follow PlayStation updates than a silly name like Project Scarlett — or Xbox Scarlett. It turns out that Microsoft has an even sillier answer for the lack of a proper Xbox Scarlett name, which also happens to be a hint that’s it’s still struggling to find an identity for the device.

Samsung basically just confirmed the design of its next-gen Galaxy S11

%name Samsung basically just confirmed the design of its next gen Galaxy S11 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Last year marked a significant shift in Samsung’s smartphone launch strategy, as the Korean giant decided to prioritize innovations for mid-range devices rather than flagships. Before that, flagship phones like the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note would be used to introduce brand new features that would eventually trickle down to the more affordable Galaxy models. But Samsung is using phones from the relatively new Galaxy A series of handsets to parade new handset features that would be then upgraded and moved to the upcoming flagship phones. We saw it happen last December when a series of phones practically confirmed the rumored Galaxy S10 design, and it just happened again, this time for the Galaxy S11.

Feast your eyes on this insane nighttime photo of Earth

%name Feast your eyes on this insane nighttime photo of Earth by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA captures lots and lots of lovely photos of Earth being bathed in bright sunlight, but images of our planet shrouded in darkness can be just as beautiful. In a new image showcase on NASA’s website, we’re treated to a gorgeous image of Earth’s “dark side,” courtesy of the Suomi NPP satellite which took to the skies back in 2011.

The imagery captured by the satellite was combined with existing images of Earth in order to create an accurate approximation of what the Americas look like when night falls. The resulting composite is just plain lovely.

Samsung will bring a new glass display to the Galaxy Fold 2 that’s as thin as human hair

%name Samsung will bring a new glass display to the Galaxy Fold 2 that’s as thin as human hair by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung reportedly wants to crank its foldable smartphone production way up next year and bring somewhere in the range of 5 million to 6 million foldable handsets to market — many of which are going to have an ultra-thin display that we’re now learning some new details about. Details that include the fact that its thinness will be roughly equivalent to that of a human hair.

In line with the recent announcement that the next generation of Samsung’s foldable will most likely feature an all-new display, it seems that Samsung has gone ahead and filed three related trademarks for a new smartphone display. Samsung’s official name for it is “Ultra Thin Glass,” and included among the patent details (spotted by Dutch tech news site LetsGoDigital) is the fact that this particular glass display will be less than 100 micrometers thick (on par with that of human hair). Also, the display will be much more scratch-resistant — while also being more expensive to manufacture.

There’s water all over the place in space, but not much of it

%name There’s water all over the place in space, but not much of it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In the ongoing search for potentially habitable worlds outside of our own solar system, there are a number of things that astronomers are looking for. Rocky worlds in the so-called “goldilocks zone” — the area around a star where temperatures suggest a planet may be habitable — are the cream of the crop, but the prevalence of water is also a major concern.

Earth is absolutely covered in water, and as everyone knows by now, life emerged in the oceans before eventually taking to dry land. So, finding a watery world would be incredibly good news. A new paper published in Astrophysical Research Letters offers both good news and bad news in the hunt for water on exoplanets.

According to Elon Musk, one of the overarching goals of Tesla is to help spearhead the adoption of electric vehicles across the board. Sure, the company wants to make money and turn a profit, but in terms of big-picture goals, Musk has never been shy about his desire to see an electric vehicle revolution.

“If somebody comes and makes a better electric car than Tesla, and it’s so much better than ours that we can’t sell our cars and we go bankrupt, I still think that’s a good thing for the world,” Musk said during an interview last year.

AT&T is losing tons of customers, so of course it’s raising its prices again

%name AT&T is losing tons of customers, so of course it’s raising its prices again by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Heads up, AT&T customers. We’re just a few weeks away from the start of a new year, which will bring changes to many of your DirecTV and U-verse TV packages, and that, unfortunately, will mean higher bills.

In spite of the fact that, as noted by Ars Technica this week, AT&T also implemented a price increase this past January that contributed to a loss of almost 5 million TV customers since the end of 2016, the coming price hikes will include an increase of up to $8/month starting January 19 for DirecTV’s Premier plan that already costs $189/month. “Because our programming costs went up, we have to raise our monthly prices for select packages starting January 19, 2020,” AT&T explains in a notice, which you can read here.
