Americans are taking fish antibiotics to save money

Health care costs in the United States are, well, pretty insane. A decent insurance plan helps mitigate out-of-pocket costs for certain medications, but those with no health coverage can find themselves with enormous bills and no hope of paying them down. It’s a bizarre situation, and as elected officials continue to debate just how broken it all is, regular citizens are doing their best to save money where they can.

For some, that apparently means using meds intended for animals in place of prescription drugs meant for humans. As Guardian reports, a new research effort reveals that online stores that offer cheap antibiotics meant for pet fish are a favorite of some who take the medication themselves instead.

Content creators have been trying to curb piracy for years, but that’s a war they’re not likely to win anytime soon.

Services like The Pirate Bay, which are essentially portals to free movies, TV shows, music, games, books, and whatever else can be obtained in a digital format, aren’t dead. They may be taken offline every once in a while, but they still survive, in spite of the increasing popularity of streaming services that offer cheap and even free access to content. In fact, The Pirate Bay is now trialing a brand new type of service that is sure to infuriate copyright holders: High-quality video streaming that lets you watch content for free online.

Would you eat less if foods told you how much exercise it takes to burn them off?

%name Would you eat less if foods told you how much exercise it takes to burn them off? by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When it comes to combating the obesity epidemic, researchers are doing their best to invent new ways of convincing us to eat healthier and be more active. A new research effort led by Loughborough University focuses on the educational aspect of nutrition and, more specifically, ensuring that consumers are informed about how many calories they are taking in when eating packaged foods, and how much exercise would be required to burn those calories off.

Nutritional information on the side of any food item is a good thing, but many people find it hard to tally their caloric intake over the course of a day, as juggling all those numbers in one’s head is a difficult task. So, rather than simply listing a calorie number, the researchers tested how consumers responded to exercise requirement data instead.

Top Apple insider: Next year’s 5G iPhones won’t see a big price increase

%name Top Apple insider: Next year’s 5G iPhones won’t see a big price increase by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’re still almost a year out from the release of Apple’s next iPhone models, and already the 2020 iPhone 12 lineup is shaping up to be the most expansive that Apple has offered yet. Coming on the heels of the release of three new models in 2019, one report has already hinted that Apple might release as many as six distinct iPhone 12 models next year.

The reason why that’s the case can be boiled down to one thing: 5G. That’s according to Rosenblatt analyst Jun Zhang, who we noted on Monday is predicting that most iPhone 12 models will come in two variants — one with 4G and one with 5G. Meanwhile, the top Apple insider in the world has followed that up with his own take on what the impact of 5G will be on one specific aspect of Apple’s iPhone 12 lineup, and that aspect is price.
