HBO Max will #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of ‘Justice League’ in 2021

  • The long-rumored Snyder Cut of Justice League will finally be released on HBO Max in 2021.
  • Fans have been clamoring for the director’s cut of the Warner Bros. Pictures DC movie ever since it came out in 2017 because Snyder had to step down before reshoots began.
  • No specific release date was provided, and we don’t know how much, if any, work still needs to be done to complete the Snyder Cut either, but fans will be thrilled nonetheless.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

In a genuinely shocking turn of events, Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO teamed up on Wednesday to announce that the long-awaited director’s cut of Justice League is coming to HBO Max next year.

Justice League debuted to middling reviews in 2017, failing to generate the critical buzz or the box office numbers of the Avengers movies that came before and after it. The movie had its fans, but they were convinced that director Zack Snyder wasn’t able to execute on his true vision when he had to step down due to a family emergency. Joss Whedon stepped in to take Snyder’s place during reshoots, and what fans believe they got was a pale imitation of the darker, grittier version that Snyder would have released if he had been involved from start to finish.

#ReleaseTheSnyderCut became a rallying cry online, and for years, fans received hints that a version true to Zack’s vision might one day be released. On Wednesday, May 20th, they were finally vindicated.

Here’s why more stimulus checks likely aren’t coming anytime soon

%name Here’s why more stimulus checks likely aren’t coming anytime soon by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The topic of illegal immigration has found its way into the discussion around whether or not congressional lawmakers should authorize new coronavirus stimulus payments for Americans still financial reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • A massive new stimulus package, the HEROES Act, was passed by the House last week and includes money for stimulus checks that would go to immigrants, regardless of their legal status.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Following up on our article from yesterday, more indications continue to surface that Republicans aren’t inclined to want to pursue a new round of stimulus checks for Americans hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic anytime soon.

One major sticking point keeping this from happening is something you might not have expected: Immigration. The HEROES Act, a massive new coronavirus relief package which the US House of Representatives passed last Friday, would make a new round of direct stimulus payments available to immigrants who pay taxes, along with their families, regardless of their legal status. As we noted yesterday, Republicans were already hesitant about another multi-trillion-dollar coronavirus package, but the provision of funds for illegal immigrants has made the chasm between both sides even wider.

Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 to be revealed at online event

%name Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 to be revealed at online event by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 during an online-only Unpacked press conference because of the ongoing coronavirus health crisis.
  • A date for the event hasn’t been set, but the new phones should be unveiled by late August, considering Samsung’s Galaxy Note launch history.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Samsung’s decision to announce the Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Fold several weeks before what should have been this year’s pre-MWC press events day turned out to be a success for the company. Not only did the two handsets get plenty of attention from the press, but the trade show was canceled because of coronavirus worries. All of the other smartphone announcements that were scheduled for the event had to be delayed.

As the novel coronavirus health crisis evolved, several other significant events were canceled, including Microsoft Build, Google I/O, and WWDC. Microsoft and Apple went forward with new formats, while Google scrapped its developer event. Other product announcements will have to be made online in the coming months, and Samsung’s upcoming flagships might be on that list. A new report out of Korea says that the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Fold 2 will be unveiled at an online press conference later this summer.

  • iOS 13.5 brings a variety of new features and changes, including the Exposure Notification API, improvements for Face ID, and new options in Group FaceTime and Medical ID.
  • If you are wearing a mask while trying to unlock your iPhone or authenticate a purchase using Face ID, iOS 13.5 simplifies the process and brings up the passcode field more quickly.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Just days after the golden master build of iOS 13.5 began rolling out the developers, Apple has released the final version of the update to the public. iOS 13.5 and iPadOS 13.5 are now available to everyone with an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, and bring a variety of new features and changes with them, including the Exposure Notification API that developers can use to build contact tracing apps to track the spread of the novel coronavirus.

iOS 13.5 also includes a “simplified unlock process for devices with Face ID when you are wearing a face mask.” From now on, the passcode field will be presented automatically if you swipe up on the Lock screen while you are wearing a mask. This also works whenever you are prompted to authenticate using Face ID in App Store, Apple Books, Apple Pay, iTunes, and other apps.

Other changes include an “option to control automatic prominence on Group FaceTime calls so video tiles do not change size when a participant speaks” and an “option to automatically share health and other essential information from your Medical ID with emergency services when you place an emergency call.”

  • A new study out of China used hamsters to test the effectiveness of face masks against coronavirus transmission.
  • Hamster cages were covered in surgical mask material to see how well it protects against the virus.
  • The results show that surgical masks are indeed a viable option if you’re hoping to protect yourself against infection or to prevent yourself from infecting others.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Do masks protect you against the coronavirus? Depending on when you asked that question you might get a dozen different answers. Between conjecture from health experts, advice from doctors, and no shortage of studies claiming one thing or another, the best answer any of us have is “it depends.”

We know that some masks work much better than others, and there are many factors: The material the mask is made of, how well it fits the wearer, and environmental conditions, just to name a few. Now, a new study out of China suggests that yes, one type of mask definitely works as a barrier to prevent the spread of the airborne droplets that carry the virus, and we can thank hamsters for sacrificing their health to reach this conclusion.

Get earphones with wireless charging that sound better than AirPods for $37

%name Get earphones with wireless charging that sound better than AirPods for $37 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • AirPods Pro are on sale right now at a new all-time low price on Amazon, and Apple’s two different AirPods 2 models are both on sale with deep discounts as well.
  • Those are all great deals, but there’s another option you should consider that offers much more bang for your buck.
  • iTeknic’s BH006 true wireless earbuds have fantastic battery life and very impressive sound quality, and they’re on sale right now at Amazon for only $29.89 when you clip the 20% coupon on the product page.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Amazon is offering some of the best deals of the year right now on AirPods 2 and AirPods 2 with wireless charging, which are both on sale with discounts up to $30. Also of note, they’re both still shipping out right away despite Amazon’s shift away from nonessential products. More surprising still is the fact that AirPods Pro are back in stock right now and down to a new all-time low price. Before you buy either of those earphones though, there’s another deal you should check out that cost a fraction as much as AirPods, even while they’re on sale.

The iTeknic BH006 true wireless earbuds aren’t quite as popular or as recognizable as AirPods, but they do have more than 1,100 5-star ratings on Amazon and they beat Apple’s AirPods 2 in a few key areas. First, they have silicone tips just like AirPods Pro, which means they isolate sound instead of leaking it all over the place. Also, they last for about 8 hours of playback per charge instead of about 4 for AirPods, and that’s huge. With the included charging case, you’ll get about 30 hours of total listening time instead of about 21 or 22 with AirPods.

AirPods are great and all, but if you care more about the listening experience than your image, it might not be a bad idea to pick up a pair of BH006 earbuds instead. Clip the 20% coupon on the product page and you’ll get these great earbuds for only $36.79. That’s an all-time low price!

Microsoft’s new supercomputer will train AI to outperform humans

%name Microsoft’s new supercomputer will train AI to outperform humans by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Microsoft has teamed up with a startup co-founded by Elon Musk to build one of the fastest supercomputers in the world, the company announced Tuesday during its annual Build developers conference — held virtually this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The startup is OpenAI, the charter of which underscores that it’s working to ensure that AI which can outperform humans nevertheless benefits all of humanity. Microsoft stressed that this work represents a key milestone in a partnership announced last year to jointly create new supercomputing technologies in Azure. This is a first step, the computing giant explained, toward debuting large AI models “and the infrastructure needed to train them” as a platform that developers and other organizations can build on.

%name Amazon is almost sold out of coronavirus killing UV phone sanitizers by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Everyone knows that Clorox wipes and Lysol wipes are great for disinfecting your smartphone, but they’re still impossible to find in any stores.
  • Since smartphones are known to be breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria and viruses, UV-C smartphone sanitizers are must-have gadgets right now because they’re by far the best way to clean your phone and other small items.

Everyone knows that smartphones are breeding grounds for all sorts of bacteria and yes, viruses as well. In the age of coronavirus, you really can’t be too safe. Clorox wipes and Lysol wipes are still nowhere to be found in supermarkets across the country, but Amazon finally has three different UV-C phone sanitizers back in stock that you can get soon if you hurry.

The first model available right now is the Yasolote UV Smartphone Sanitizer Case, which is available for $48.99. It has a nice large inner compartment to fit even the biggest smartphones out there, and it’s one of the most affordable options on Amazon.

Another good option is the Soeland UV Cell Phone Sanitizer, which is a bit less expensive at $47.99. It works just as well as the NeotrixQI model, but the design is a little different. This is a newer model that hasn’t been available quite as long as the others.

  • UV cellphone sanitizer – it’s safe to sanitize anything that will fit inside! While killing 99.99% of germs, UV-C light can get to the microorganisms that hide in crevices where even cleaning wipes can’t reach.
  • Large Sanitizing Space – SOELAND sanitizer is compatible with cell phones up to 7 inches such as iPhone, Samsung, Nexus, LG, Motorola, Sony, HTC, Huawei, etc. Great for iPods, MP3 players, Bluetooth earphones, toothbrushes, watches, toys, pacifiers, eyeglasses, keys, jewelry, and any other small objects.

It’s a bit pricey at $79.99, but it has a great collapsable design that makes it easy to stow anywhere. Despite the zipper closure, it still has a magnetic safety — the zipper pull is hiding a magnet that can only attach to the safety when it’s zipped closed.

An asteroid estimated to be up to nearly a mile in diameter is scheduled for a date with Earth tomorrow, May 21st, 2020. The space rock known as 136795 (1997 BQ) will be moving at a speed of over seven miles per second when it reaches its closest point to our planet. Thankfully, NASA has been keeping a close eye on it and it’s expected to miss Earth by a significant margin.

As its name suggests, 1997 BQ was first spotted by astronomers in 1997. It’s big enough that it could be tracked, and over time its Sun-centric orbit was mapped and refined.

%name You’re nuts if you buy a $200 Nest Cam – these $24 cameras are just as good by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Amazon is offering great deals on not two of the best options out there when it comes to home security cameras, the Wyze Cam and the YI Home Camera 3.
  • Both currently priced at around $24, the cameras offer features that match pricey high-end rivals at a small fraction of the cost.
  • At that price, you can buy eight of either one of these great home camera models and still spend less than you would on a single home security camera from some top brands.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It’s difficult to focus on anything other than the novel coronavirus outbreak right now, and that’s certainly understandable. It’s the most important thing happening in the world and it will continue to be for months and months to come. The United States now has more confirmed COVID-19 cases than any other country in the world and that’s in spite of the fact that only a fraction of people exhibiting symptoms can get tested since there’s still such a shortage on coronavirus tests. It’s bad and getting worse, but we also have to remember that life goes on and we have more than just the coronavirus to protect ourselves and our families from.

Amazon has two great deals right now on home security cameras that are just as good as a $200 Nest Cam for a tiny fraction of the price. The first is the Wyze Cam, which has all the main features you might want as well as 14 days of free cloud storage for between $24 and $26 per camera. The second one is on the Yi Home Camera 3, which costs about the same amount but has some more advanced features as well as a 6-month free trial of YI’s cloud service. On top of that, you can get a 10% discount if you buy two right now.

Based on today’s deals, the Yi model is definitely the way to go. On top of all the main features you’d get with the Wyze Cam, the YI Home Camera 3 also includes advanced AI features like person detection and even sound analytics. The downside is that you only get free 7-day cloud storage for 6 months, and after that, you’ll have to subscribe to YI’s cloud service if you want to keep using the cloud. $24.29 for all those features is still a crazy price.

As for the Wyze Cam 1080p HD smart home camera, it’s always a great value and it comes with 14 days of free cloud storage for free. That’s not a limited-time trial, mind you — you’ll enjoy free cloud storage for as long as you own your cameras. As we also mentioned, Wyze cameras are still shipping out right away on Amazon despite the retailer’s shift in focus away from nonessentials. You’ll pay $25.98 for one camera or $24.99 each if you by them in 2-packs, and they’ll be on your doorstep in just a few days.
