The festering anti-vaccination movement in the United States is giving doctors and health officials a headache, but things are even worse on the island nation of Samoa. As of last week, over 2,600 confirmed cases of measles had been recorded, and 33 people had died, most of them being young children. Things have somehow gotten even worse in the days since.

As CNN reports, the government of Samoa will actually shut down later this week in an effort to focus all available resources on the epidemic ravaging the isolated island nation. The death toll currently stands at 53, and 48 of the victims were children under the age of 4.

Fireballs show up in the night sky all over Earth on a regular basis. Depending on the size of the object creating them, they can range from a brief streak of light to huge explosions that send shockwaves for miles in all directions. Smaller ones are more common, of course, but the massive fireball that appeared over Australia in 2016 may have been even more special that astronomers first realized.

As ScienceAlert reports, observations of the fireball in 2016 revealed it to be on the larger side, producing a brilliant streak in the sky as the intense friction of entry into Earth’s atmosphere tore it apart. It’s now thought that the object may have been a rare example of a “minimoon.”

A new research report from analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via MacRumors) claims that Apple in 2020 is planning to introduce a host of new products with mini-LED displays. Specifically, Kuo claims that Apple will release four products with the new display technology, including a brand new 12.9-inch iPad Pro and a revamped 16-inch MacBook Pro. Of course, seeing as how Apple just released its updated 16-inch MacBook Pro a few weeks ago, we probably won’t see it get refreshed until late next year.

Rumors of Apple incorporating mini-LED display technology into its product line have have been circulating for some time now, and Kuo’s recent note seems to corroborate those earlier reports. It’s also worth mentioning that Kuo’s track record with regard to Apple rumors is unrivaled, which is to say that that there’s a solid chance the rumored products above will arrive on store shelves in the coming months.
