As 2019 draws to a close, one of the highlights of the year from a mobile technology perspective has to be the advent of foldability that started to become a fixture across the industry this year. Consumer electronics giants from around the world, from Apple to Samsung as well as Chinese brands like Huawei and Xiaomi, have all experimented with foldable tech in one form or another, be it by securing patents for a design, tinkering behind the scenes, and in some cases releasing a full-fledged device like a foldable smartphone.

Samsung has arguably been among the most aggressive along these lines, thanks to its release this fall of the Galaxy Fold smartphone and the promise of additional foldable smartphone releases being prepped for 2020. While all that goes on, meanwhile, Samsung is also toiling away on another piece of foldable tech — a tablet.

%name Here’s what a NASA Moon lander might look like by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA wants to send humans back to the Moon, and it hopes to achieve that goal by 2024. Whether or not such a mission is possible on such an abbreviated timeline remains to be seen, but the space agency is slowly moving forward with its lunar exploration projects and just offered the world a glimpse at what a rover-carrying lunar lander might look like.

Before astronauts make the trip, NASA wants to send multiple unmanned missions to the Moon to return scientific data. NASA hopes that one of those missions will include a lander and a rover, and it’s been hashing out the details of what that might look like.

Ever since Disney+ launched earlier this month, it’s seemingly been all anyone can talk about. Whether it’s the near-endless collection of classic movies and cartoons or the debut of #BabyYoda in The Mandalorian or the lack of a few basic features (one of which was finally added today), the streaming service has made a huge impact in a very short amount of time, and the early subscription numbers appear to be just as impressive.

Citing numbers from research firm Apptopia, the New York Post reports that Disney+ app has been downloaded more than 15.5 million times since November 12th, and has generated over $5 million through in-app purchases. Millions of people are not only downloading the app, but are also forgoing the free trial for a paid subscription.

%name Romaine lettuce is dangerous again as new E. coli outbreak spreads by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Hey, remember back exactly one year ago when the CDC begged everyone to throw away romaine lettuce because it was making people sick? Well wouldn’t you know it, it’s happening again! Over two dozen people have already been hospitalized with severe E. coli infections across 16 states, and the CDC is once again sounding the alarm.

The romaine lettuce in question is from the Salinas Valley, California, growing region. Stickers or stamped text on packaging will tell you where the product originated, so if you’ve purchased lettuce that originated in Salinas Valley you should avoid eating it.

Revealed: Facebook was the mystery buyer that lost the Fitbit bidding war to Google

%name Revealed: Facebook was the mystery buyer that lost the Fitbit bidding war to Google by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Not long after official word started to circulate earlier this month that Fitbit had reached a deal to be acquired by Google for $2.1 billion, some users started promising to abandon the company and its wearables upon the news that the data-hungry search giant would now own it all.

Not every user, of course, proclaimed that they would leave Fitbit en masse thanks to the acquisition. But it does beg the question of how might the customer response have been different had Google in fact lost the bidding war to another tech firm that was in the hunt — Facebook, whose CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself met with Fitbit’s top executive at least three times trying to get a deal done.

Galaxy S11+ renders show off one of the craziest cameras we’ve ever seen on a phone

%name Galaxy S11+ renders show off one of the craziest cameras we’ve ever seen on a phone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

After leaking renders for the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e over the weekend, @OnLeaks completed the collection on Tuesday by sharing renders of the Galaxy S11+ with CashKaro. While we don’t know what the company has planned for the 5G models of these new phones, we now have a pretty good idea of what Samsung is going to change on its next-gen devices, and what will stick around from this year’s models.

The overall design is, unsurprisingly, similar to what we saw from the Galaxy S11 and Galaxy S11e renders. The selfie camera has moved to the center, where Samsung has kept the Infinity-O display with its hole-punch cutout. The major change is clearly the rear camera array, which is truly something to behold.

Maybe Jupiter’s Great Red Spot isn’t dying after all

%name Maybe Jupiter’s Great Red Spot isn’t dying after all by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Jupiter’s Great Red Spot is one of the most easily-recognizable features of any planet in our solar system. The rusty red-orange blob is featured prominently in most images of the planet, and its size is truly staggering. In recent years, however, scientists have noticed a troubling trend that might suggest the storm is dying.

Recent images of Jupiter show “flakes” of the Great Red Spot splitting off and dying. These wispy arms of the storm fade, making the storm appear as though it’s slowly shrinking. There are some researchers who don’t agree with that assessment, and Philip Marcus of UC Berkeley says that there’s no reason to believe the GRS is indeed on its way out.
