As an antitrust investigation led by state attorneys general expands from advertising to take a closer look at Google’s search practices, which we told you about on Thursday, the results of a newspaper investigation published on Friday may add even more fuel to that fire. Specifically, it’s a report that probes all the ways the search giant manipulates the results that you see — in ways that contradict Google’s insistence that it doesn’t tip the scales — and takes a closer look at blacklists and ways that Google favors big businesses over small ones in search results, among other tweaks the company’s engineers make behind the scenes.

Disney+ may have debuted the first two episodes of The Mandalorian last week, but Netflix is going to counter with full seasons of two of its most popular shows. The Crown is one of Netflix’s biggest critical hits in recent years, and the early reviews are once again very positive. This week will also see the return of The Dragon Prince, which is an animated series, but has similarly received praise for its storytelling and characters.

Other highlights this week include new episodes of Nailed It! and the addition of End of Watch, but we’ll also be losing Nikita, so if you’ve been holding off on watching this CW shows from the early aughts, get on it.

MCU Phase 5 news: Marvel set release dates for eight more movies, and one might be ‘Avengers 5’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to have an insanely busy Phase 4, which is the upcoming MCU stage that will contain a massive mix of limited TV series and regular superhero movies. That’s because Marvel and Disney will leverage the new Disney+ streaming service in addition to movie theaters to tell brand new MCU stories. Marvel chief Kevin Feige already said that you’ll need to be aware of what happens in all the MCU series hitting Disney+ to understand the upcoming MCU movies better. At $6.99 a month though, Disney+ is a steal considering all the incredible content it’ll have to offer.

But we’ll still get awesome MCU films in the coming years. We’re looking at six motion pictures that will hit theaters in 2020 and 2021, including Spider-Man 3, and then we’ll also get at least eight films between 2022 and 2023. That’s right, Marvel just set the release dates for five extra MCU Phase 5 titles, on top of the three that we already had. We don’t want to get our hopes up too high just yet, but one of those five new films might be Avengers 5, and another one could even be Deadpool 3.

We talk to the creator of ‘Despicable Me’ about directing Netflix’s first animated feature

%name We talk to the creator of ‘Despicable Me’ about directing Netflix’s first animated feature by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Believe it or not, the release of Netflix’s first animated feature on Friday (Klaus, the directorial debut of Despicable Me creator Sergio Pablos which purports to be a Santa Claus origin story) can actually tell you a lot about Netflix at this point in time, as new rivals like Disney+ emerge as credible threats and pressure mounts on Netflix to deliver hits and keep subscribers happy.

Netflix has been spending billions of dollars on content this year and keeps raising money to keep spending on more content, precisely because that’s the only way to maintain its prominence as the king of the streaming hill. The streaming giant has to keep its pipeline of new series and movies humming with constant additions, it has to empower creators, it has to offer content that appeals to critics as well as to the general public — to families and children, as well as adults hungry for action and drama. And, to reiterate, the release of Klaus — which includes voice work from actors Rashida Jones, Jason Schwartzman, and J.K. Simmons — checks all of those boxes, and then some.

American Express has long dominated the upper end of the credit card marketplace, with cards like The Platinum Card® from American Express offering a slew of perks and rewards geared toward more affluent consumers who have lots of disposable income (with a hefty $550 annual fee underscoring the premium nature of the card). This museum will pay you $25,000 to find Missouri meteorite pieces

Hey, so, funny story: Remember that crazy-bright fireball that appeared over the skies of St. Louis earlier this week? Yeah, it was awesome, but finding the leftovers would be even more awesome, and the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum is willing to fork over a hefty sum if anyone can locate sizable chunks of the rock itself.

The fireball that was witnessed by man across the state of Missouri was captured on video from multiple angles, and it’s believed that the rock that produced it was somewhere around 220 pounds. That’s a big old chunk of space junk, but did any of it survive the trip through our atmosphere?

You may not see it on the surface, but there’s an arms race happening at your local pharmacy. Every day, antibiotics are handed out to countless sick people around the globe. They’re our best weapon against many types of bacteria, and they’ve worked well for us for a long time. That’s beginning to change.

Life finds a way, and bacteria are no different. We developed drugs to kill them off in ourselves, our animals, and even in the food we eat, but it was only a matter of time before such microorganisms found ways around them. Today, antibiotic-resistant bacteria are already claiming lives, and a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals that as many as four people are killed by these new “superbugs” every hour in the United States alone.

Other than the streaming and log-in hiccups that frustrated some viewers who tried out the new service earlier this week, the hotly anticipated debut of Disney’s new streamer Disney+ on Tuesday seems to have been enough of a success that it reportedly garnered millions of subscribers for Disney. And it even helped the Walt Disney Co. stock price reach its biggest single-day gain in seven months as a result.

Indeed, the new streamer has emerged as a credible threat to Netflix right out of the gate. Its monthly price starts at $6.99, and for that price you get to enjoy hundreds of movies from Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, and Disney, not to mention new series that will be exclusive to Disney+. Along those lines, after watching the first episode of the streamer’s new series The Mandalorian (with my first impressions recorded here) I found it to be a fantastic addition to the Star Wars franchise.
