The PlayStation 5 isn’t the only new console expected to launch in holiday season 2020, but Sony’s gaming rig has certainly made the news more often than Project Scarlett in recent weeks. Microsoft, however, wants customers to know it has learned its lessons from the Xbox One launch and won’t repeat them again. Xbox Scarlett will be just as powerful as the PS5, and just as affordable.

Google RCS messages just rolled out in the US – what you need to know

%name Google RCS messages just rolled out in the US – what you need to know by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google is rolling out RCS messages in the US, which is short for Rich Communication Service to anyone who would have them. In theory, RCS could be the perfect alternative to iMessage on Android. In reality, Google is struggling to finally offer customers an iMessage lookalike, and the fact that it’s going at it alone, without help from US carriers, is proof that it’ll be a while until Android gets a default messaging system similar to what the iPhone has. And it’s a strong reminder of the number one reason I won’t ditch the iPhone for Android anytime soon.

Our galaxy spat out a star so fast that it’s never coming back

%name Our galaxy spat out a star so fast that it’s never coming back by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When you look up at the night sky you see a lot of stars that, in relation to our own planet, haven’t moved a whole lot in a very, very long time. But some of the stars in our home galaxy aren’t so lucky, and astronomers recently identified one in particular that is absolutely speeding its way out of the Milky Way, and they think they know why.

The star, known by its label S5-HVS1, got a little too close to the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy around five million years ago. When it did, the black hole flung it away at an incredible speed, and it’s moving so fast that it’s essentially been evicted from our galaxy.

Big Cable just screwed itself out of almost 2M fed-up subscribers

%name Big Cable just screwed itself out of almost 2M fed up subscribers by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Here are a few numbers which, at this point, shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone. Cord-cutting hit a record high in the third quarter, with almost 2 million people abandoning Pay TV and all those bills stuffed with hidden fees, not to mention the often terrible customer service. That loss of 1.74 million customers during the period represented the biggest-ever loss for the industry in a single quarter. And, unsurprisingly, accounting for most of that loss was AT&T, to which 1.37 million of those 1.74 million customers belonged.

The Mandalorian premiered on Disney+ earlier this week to stellar reviews. The first episode is chock-full of Star Wars nostalgia that will remind fans of the original trilogy every step of the way. And that amazing cliffhanger at the end of the first episode is really what will get you hooked on the series. You’ll want to know how it’s is even possible, and what that means for the entire Star Wars universe.

After all, The Mandalorian is set between the second and third trilogies, and the revelation might be of huge importance down the road. While we’ll have to see more episodes to get the answers we crave, it turns out we do have a big Mandalorian spoiler for you coming from Mando himself.

These are the 15 most-watched shows on Netflix for the week

%name These are the 15 most watched shows on Netflix for the week by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A top Netflix executive insisted publicly on Thursday that the streamer isn’t worried at all and won’t be distracted by the arrival of Disney+ this week onto the streaming scene. Whether you believe that or think it’s mostly bluster, what’s not in question is the weapon Netflix will use to fight back and hold onto the ground it’s seized as the Streaming Wars continue to unfold. That weapon is content, and lots and lots of it — both third-party, licensed shows and movies as well as content Netflix has commissioned or which falls into the “Netflix Originals” bucket.

Streaming search engine Reelgood has once again given us a rundown of data based on the behaviors of the users of its service — data that includes the 15 most-watched shows on Netflix between November 5 and November 11. At the top of the list this week is NBC’s comedy about the afterlife (The Good Place), while most of the rest of the top 5 is comprised of Netflix originals, like The End of the F***ing World, Daybreak, and Stranger Things.

How to get the new Disney+ bundle with ad-free Hulu and ESPN+

%name How to get the new Disney+ bundle with ad free Hulu and ESPN+ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

With over 600 movies and shows at launch, Disney+ is already quite a value proposition at $6.99 a month, especially if you took advantage of any of the great deals that popped up in the months prior to release. But for some users, the Disney bundle, which includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu with ads is an even better deal at $12.99 a month (that’s $5 less than each of the services would cost you individually every month).

The only problem with the Disney bundle is that, by default, it comes with Hulu’s ad-supported tier, and there doesn’t appear to be any way to choose Hulu (No Ads) instead. Thankfully, there is actually a way to get ad-free Hulu as part of the bundle, but you’re going to have to jump through a few hoops to get it.

Apple Store employee fired after stealing an intimate photo from a customer’s iPhone

%name Apple Store employee fired after stealing an intimate photo from a customer’s iPhone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

An employee at an Apple Store in Bakersfield, California has been fired after it was discovered that he texted himself an intimate photo found on a customer’s iPhone. The story first came to light when Gloria Fuentes — who is the customer in question — posted a detailed recap of events on her Facebook page.

As Fuentes recounts, she went to a nearby Apple store to get the display on her iPhone repaired. Ahead of time, Fuentes — in the interest of safety and privacy — began deleting a number of sensitive photos from her phone. Her appointment at the Apple Store, however, was pushed up by a few hours and subsequently didn’t leave her with enough time to delete everything she was intending to.
