Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner for Netflix’s hotly anticipated new fantasy series The Witcher that’s based on a popular series of books by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski which also spawned a video game franchise, has already made it clear she has multiple seasons of the show mapped out. A full seven seasons in fact, which should come as no surprise since there are eight books to draw material from.

On Wednesday morning, Netflix decided to go ahead and green-light a second season for the new series that stars Henry Cavill as monster-hunter Geralt of Rivia, ahead of the show’s debut on Netflix a little more than a month from now (on December 20). This means, in addition to being a vote of confidence in the new show, that Schmidt Hissrich’s backlog of season plans just got a little lighter.

A patent discovery a few days ago made us wonder whether Sony is secretly working on a second new console, in addition to the PlayStation 5 that’s due to be released next winter. The company registered a design patent in Brazil that shows a device that looks a lot like the kind of cartridge a handheld console would take. Then, the blog that made the initial discovery came up with a different use for the cartridge-like storage solution: the device could be a clever SSD housing that would let Sony keep the PS5’s entry price down, while simultaneously making it easy for consumers who want more storage to swap out the old one in favor of a higher-capacity SSD. If there’s one thing that Sony stressed while revealing some of the details surrounding the PS5’s specs, it’s the incredible SSD speeds that will make loading times a thing of the past. Solid-state drives are still an expensive upgrade though, even if the price per gigabyte has fallen in recent years.

After months of buildup and more hype than anyone could have imagined, Disney+ finally launched earlier this week on Tuesday. Did it live up to the hype? Well, the answer to that question is a bit complicated. The service itself is everything people hoped it would be and more. For the impossibly low price of just $6.99 each month or $5.83 per month if you pay annually, Disney+ gives subscribers access to an incredible amount of premium content. Highlights include almost every Disney movie and show that has ever been made, all but five films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, National Geographic content, every episode of The Simpsons, every single Pixar movie, exclusives like The Mandalorian and the live-action remake of Lady and the Tramp, and more. And that’s just the content available on launch day! Winter is coming, but for a huge chunk of the United States it feels like it’s already here. Record cold temperatures have already swallowed up much of the eastern half of the country, and the unexpected weather “anomaly” is already being blamed for at least five deaths.

The chilly temperatures are truly unprecedented for large portions of the country, and the National Weather Service says it’s expecting that well over 100 low-temperature records will be broken as a result. Ever since Friends wrapped up in 2004, fans of the sitcom have been asking about a reunion. The stars of the show have each gone on to have varying degrees of successful careers, but for 15 years, people have been asking each of them when they are going to reunite for a new season, a Friends movie, or even a one-off reunion special. And while there’s still nothing official to announce, it sounds like something is finally in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s six main stars (Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer) and series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman are currently in talks with HBO Max to bring an unscripted reunion special to AT&T’s streaming service.
