When police and first responders arrived at the location of a single-car crash in South Point, Ohio, late Friday night, they were greeted with a horrific sight: The driver, Sidney Wolfe, was covered in blood, with a massive stream coming down her face and soaking her hair and clothing. It’s exactly the kind of thing that EMTs are trained to deal with, but it wasn’t what it seemed.

Wolfe, currently a student at Marshall University in West Virginia, is a cast member in a stage adaptation of the Stephen King horror story Carrie. Wolfe’s terrifying appearance was actually just a costume, and aside from a bruise on her leg, she was unharmed.

WhatsApp is easily one of the most popular messaging apps out there, and Facebook’s only chat app that supports end-to-end encryption, just like iMessage on the iPhone. Earlier this year, Pixar released a new short film as part of its SparkShorts animation initiative that, in my opinion, is tailor-made for any of you out there who loved Wall-E. The short is called Smash and Grab, and it features a pair of adorable robots toiling away in factory-like drudgery, recognizing that at least they have each others’ friendship.

The robots have bright, luminescent eyes, move and behave a little like humans and communicate via cute beeps and boops. There is a bit of a story packed into the short, which is gorgeously animated — and which Disney has wisely decided will be included in a collection of new, original Pixar content that will be exclusive to the company’s streaming service, Disney+, which launches on November 12.

It’s no secret that iPhone sales haven’t exactly been skyrocketing in recent years. While this isn’t to say that the sky is falling, there’s no denying that iPhone sales, at best, have remained somewhat stagnant over the past few years. This, though, shouldn’t be viewed as a black mark against Apple given that iPhone owners these days are holding onto their devices for longer periods of time than ever before. Further, we’re a few years removed from the era of generous carrier subsidies where consumers could get a next-gen device for free on a 2-year contract.

The impending launch of a 5G-enabled iPhone 12, however, may change all that. While it’s no secret that a 5G-enabled iPhone will likely spur an avalanche of upgrades, a source familiar with Apple’s production plans tells Bloomberg that Apple’s iPhone lineup in 2020 will be so compelling that iPhone sales will experience a significant boost.

Apple today posted its earnings report for the September quarter and, in typical Apple fashion, the numbers are staggering. For the quarter gone by, Apple posted revenue of $64 billion and EPS of $3.03. Analysts on Wall Street, meanwhile, were anticipating Apple’s quarterly revenue to come in at around $63 billion and earnings to come in at about $2.84 per share. As a point of reference, Apple during the same quarter last year posted revenue of $62.9 billion and an EPS of $2.91.

Tellers at Pinnacle Bank in Lincoln, Nebraska, had an unexpectedly eventful Monday thanks to a man who insisted on opening a new bank account with an initial deposit of one million dollars. Waltzing into a bank out of the blue with that much cold hard cash would be odd enough on its own, but this tale has a special twist: The man’s $1 million was a single bill.

The Lincoln Journal Star reports that the unidentified man presented a $1 million bill to a bank teller and demanded a new account to hold his very real and totally not fake money. Tellers explained to him that the bill was counterfeit, but as you might imagine, he didn’t believe them.
