Some leaks claimed the product will get the Pro moniker, with the AirPods Pro supposed to be even more expensive than the regular AirPods that come with a wireless charging case. Microsoft unveiled several new computers a few weeks ago, including updates to its Surface Pro and Laptop lines, as well as its first-ever Surface devices powered by ARM and AMD chips. The most interesting devices coming out of Microsoft’s hardware event were the dual-screen Windows tablet (Surface Neo) and Android smartphone (Surface Duo) that were only announced so developers can help Microsoft create compelling dual-screen software experiences for buyers — both the Neo and Duo will launch only about a year from now. A new leak, however, reveals that the Windows 10X version of Windows 10 that Microsoft created for dual-screen gadgets might have a future on more traditional laptops, which only feature one main screen.

It’s no secret that Apple over the past few years has devoted an ever-increasing amount of R&D towards improving the camera technologies it packs into the iPhone. And speaking to the scale of Apple’s work and ambition, the company a few years ago revealed that it has well over 800 engineers who are solely tasked with working on and improving the iPhone camera.

While not every iPhone upgrade results in a huge jump in camera performance, Apple’s iPhone 11 lineup is arguably the biggest leap forward in camera quality we’ve seen in years. Night mode alone is essentially magic and, impressively enough, clearly delivers crisper and higher quality photos in low-light environments than what you’ll find from the Pixel 4 and any Samsung flagship you can think of.

This timelapse photo from the space station is breathtaking

%name This timelapse photo from the space station is breathtaking by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Astronauts aboard the International Space Station get to see a lot of cool things. The orbiting laboratory completes a full lap of Earth in a mere 92 minutes, so its residents are constantly seeing sunrises, sunsets, and all the stars they could possibly want. It also makes the space station the perfect place to snap a timelapse photo, and NASA’s Christina Koch did just that.

Normally, a timelapse image showing this much star activity would take an entire night to capture, but because of the speed at which the ISS orbits Earth, it took just 11 minutes. It’s the result of some 400 separate photos that were captured as the space station passed over a large swath of Africa.

Cable companies have found another ridiculous excuse to raise your rates

%name Cable companies have found another ridiculous excuse to raise your rates by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Cable companies have just found a new excuse to raise rates, thanks to an order from the Federal Communications Commission on Friday that uses what might sound like a novel justification: The competition from streaming services.

Before we get to the details of the FCC decision, some history is in order first. The Cable Television Consumer Protection and Competition Act of 1992 allows local regulators to control cable prices in markets with only one cable provider — which is supposed to cap the company from taking advantage of its monopoly position to raise prices sky-high. The law allows, however, for that cable company to petition for the removal of that regulation when an additional cable player arrives on the scene.

Everything new coming to Netflix this week, and everything leaving (week of Oct. 27)

Although Apple TV+ is only launching with nine TV shows, its arrival this week signals a sea change in the world of streaming media. By the end of the month, both Apple and Disney will have introduced their own streaming services, and for the first time in years, Netflix will have real competition from companies that are willing to spend just as much — if not more — than the number one streamer in the world spends on its original content.

Industry news aside, Netflix has a busy November planned, including a bunch of quality licensed content, such as the entire Matrix trilogy, Step Brothers, Rosemary’s Baby, and the first Zombieland.

How AT&T plans to position HBO Max to take on Netflix

%name How AT&T plans to position HBO Max to take on Netflix by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s a little bit crazy how quickly the streaming landscape has exploded in just a few months’ time. Not too long ago, the field of services duking it out for streaming supremacy was relatively small. You had Netflix as the top dog, of course, and then you had Amazon, Hulu, and HBO essentially all angling for second place.

The streaming landscape today, however, is about to get a lot more crowded, if not downright confusing. Both Disney and Apple, for example, are planning to roll out their own streaming services within the next few weeks. What’s more, AT&T is planning to enter the fray with HBO Max, a brand new streaming service that will exist alongside both HBO Now and HBO Go.

This limited-time Capital One welcome offer of up to 200k miles is almost unheard-of

BGR has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. BGR and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers.

Please note: the offers mentioned below are subject to change at any time and some may no longer be available.

One of the easiest ways for credit card issuers to grab your interest is by dangling a lucrative welcome bonus, one that promises the instant gratification of lots of rewards miles right up front, as well as points or some other perk as an immediate thank-you gift for signing up.

Granted, that shouldn’t necessarily be the deciding factor you consider when weighing all the different options you’re confronted with. But sometimes the offers are so big, so near-unheard-of, that they demand attention all by themselves — and one such pair of sign-up bonuses (the biggest of 2018, in fact) is back, just in time for the end of this year. The cards we’re talking about are Capital One’s two Spark business cards: The Capital One® Spark® Miles for Business and Capital One® Spark® Cash for Business. If you’ve been on the fence about applying for one of these or even just for a new card in general, perhaps this might clear things up for you — one of those cards is offering a welcome bonus of up to 200,000 miles for signing up and hitting the requisite spending targets.
