%name 11 new Pixel 4 features you won’t find on the iPhone 11 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google’s new Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL flagship smartphones were announced last week, and they’ll land on store shelves this coming Thursday, October 24th. In fact, they’ll land on more store shelves here in the United States than ever before thanks to new wireless carrier deals. Pixel phones have never sold anywhere near as well as flagships from top smartphone makers like Apple and Samsung, but they’re typically fan favorites among avid Android users who recognize the many benefits of owning a Pixel phone. A pure Android experience free of vendor bloat and an incredible camera are both near the top of the list, but immediate access to new Android updates trumps everything else. Simply put, the only way to guarantee that you always have the latest and greatest new Android features is to buy a Pixel phone.

With the release of the new Pixel 4 series fast approaching and Google’s review embargo having been lifted on Monday morning, there’s tons of coverage flying all around the web right now. Of course, the biggest question on everyone’s mind seems to be how the new Pixel 4 series stacks up to Apple’s iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max. This is a question we’ll continue to address, but there’s no better way to start than by highlighting some of the biggest differences between Google’s Pixel 4 phones and Apple’s iPhone 11 lineup.

Google’s working on a new feature to speed up Chrome, and you can try it right now

%name Google’s working on a new feature to speed up Chrome, and you can try it right now by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

According to the most recent available data from market research and monitoring company Net Marketshare, Google’s Chrome web browser currently has a 67% share of the global market on desktop and laptop computers. Firefox is in the #2 spot with a 9.21%, which means Chrome is so overwhelmingly dominant that it’s the only desktop web browser on the planet with a double-digit market share. Think for a moment how impressive that is, especially since Chrome OS currently has an estimated global market share of between 4% and 5%. That means only up to 5% of computers sold around the world ship with Chrome preinstalled and designated as the default browser, so everyone else using it had to make a concerted effort to do so.

There are so many reasons that people use Chrome instead of all the other perfectly good options out there. It has a great minimalistic design and it’s obviously plugged into plenty of Google services, plus it syncs all of your data effortlessly across installs. On top of anything else, Chrome has class-leading security features and it’s also wonderfully fast and powerful. Of course, there’s no such thing as “fast enough” when it comes to anything involving computers or web browsing, and there’s a new feature Google is currently testing that will speed up its beloved Chrome browser even more — and on top of that, you can even get your hands on the new feature right now if you want.

%name Save $100 on the crazy Roomba that doesn’t just clean your floors, it also cleans itself by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It might be hard to remember these days since robot vacuums are a dime a dozen, but Roomba was a pioneer in the space. Now, all these years later, Roomba is changing the game once again. There is a “final frontier” in robot vacuums that no company has been able to crack: once a robot vacuum is full, it has to be emptied by a human. That’s no longer the case thanks to the hot new iRobot Roomba i7+ (7550) Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal.

As you can see in the graphic above, the i7+ returns to its base once its internal bin is full. Once it’s docked, the base has a brilliant feature that vacuums out all the dirt and dust on its own! It’s fantastic, but it’s also quite pricey which is why you should head over to Amazon and scoop one up while it’s discounted by $100.

iRobot Roomba i7+ (7550) Robot Vacuum with Automatic Dirt Disposal- Wi-Fi Connected, Smart Mapp…: $999.00

Here’s more from the product page:

  • Empties on its own – you don’t have to think about vacuuming for months at a time. Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal with AllergenLock bag holds 60 days of dirt, dust and hair.
  • Power-Lifting Suction delivers 10X the air power* for improved pick-up performance. Premium 3-Stage Cleaning System cleans the dirt and pet hair you see and the allergens and dust you don’t. *(Compared to Roomba 600 Series)
  • Intelligently maps and remembers multiple floor plans to clean your entire home. Patented iAdapt 3.0 technology with vSLAM navigation actively captures thousands of precise measurements each millisecond to optimize coverage.
  • Imprint Smart Mapping enables the robot to learn, map and adapt to your home, allowing you to choose which rooms are cleaned and when. Keep Out Zones offer added control to actively avoid specific areas and objects in your home.
  • Ideal for homes with pets. High-Efficiency Filter and AllergenLock bags trap 99% of pollen, mold, and dust mites so they don’t escape back into the air.
  • Unique Dual Multi-Surface Rubber Brushes don’t get tangled with pet hair. Brushes adjust and flex to stay in constant contact with carpets and hard floors.
  • Imprint Link Technology allows Roomba i7+ and Braava jet m6 robots to automatically clean in sequence – vacuuming and then mopping.
  • “Roomba, clean my kitchen.” Customize and control how you clean with the iRobot HOME app, Alexa or the Google Assistant.
  • Box Content: 1 Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum, 1 Clean Base Automatic Dirt Disposal, 2 Dirt Disposal Bags, 1 North American Line Cord, 1 Dual Mode Virtual Wall Barrier, 1 Extra High-Efficiency Filter, 1 Extra Side Brush

Sony’s PlayStation 5 is one of the most talked-about consoles these days, even though we still have more than a year to go until the PS5 is ready to hit stores. Sony has already confirmed the official name of the product, as well as its main features. But Sony left out several crucial details about the next-gen PlayStation. We have no idea how the final PS5 will look like, how much it’ll cost, and when it’ll launch. But we did see the PS5 prototype design a few times already. Sony delivered these dev kits to companies creating games for the new console, games that are going to be available on launch day. It all started with a patent discovery that was then confirmed by developerstwice. Even Sony showed the dev kit while promoting the new DualShock controller that will ship with the console. This brings us to the latest PS5, which is an actual photo of the rumored dev kit.

Google responds to uproar over Pixel 4 face unlock security, says it’ll soon work just like iPhones

%name Google responds to uproar over Pixel 4 face unlock security, says it’ll soon work just like iPhones by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’ve known for several months that the Pixel 4 will feature support for 3D face recognition, as Google announced the feature well before this fall’s Made by Google event. At the time, Google also unveiled the Motion Sense radar, saying that the Soli chip will help improve the speed of Face unlock. What Google failed to mention at the time, or during the Pixel 4 event, is that its Face unlock feature isn’t, for the time being, on par with the iPhone’s Face ID. That’s because the Pixel 4 can be unlocked even if your eyes are closed, as some people discovered after the press conference. Face ID on all iOS devices that have TrueDepth cameras, from iPhone X to iPhone 11, work differently, packing a Require Attention security feature that should make it impossible for anyone to point the iPhone to your face while you’re sleeping to get access. Google has acknowledged the issue and says an Eyes open feature is coming soon.

Nobody really knows if there are other ‘Earths’ out there

%name Nobody really knows if there are other ‘Earths’ out there by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Are there other Earth-like planets out there in the cosmos? We simply don’t know. Scientists have been peering into space for centuries and, thanks to advancing technology, we have spotted other worlds that might be capable of supporting life, but the evidence is sorely lacking.

To help answer the question, researchers from UCLA came up with a new framework for analyzing the makeup of exoplanets using data from the W. M. Keck Observatory and other high-powered telescopes. Based on their observations, the researchers are making a rather bold declaration: Earth isn’t terribly unique.

It wasn’t that long ago that the idea of having a single functioning machine on Mars was little more than a dream for scientists. Today, NASA has a whole bunch of hardware on and around the Red Planet, and sometimes they catch a glimpse of one another as they go about their business.

In a new post by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, we get to see both the InSight lander and the Curiosity rover doing their thing from afar thanks to NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter and its HiRISE camera. The images are nothing short of spectacular.
