Sony earlier this week confirmed the official name of the PlayStation 5 console that will launch by Christmas 2020 — it’s PlayStation 5, no huge surprise there. The company also revealed some details about the new console’s user interface and announced a brand new controller that will deliver a bunch of exciting features, including improved haptic feedback and USB-C connectivity. But Sony also showed a PS5 dev kit while demoing the new DualShock 5 controller — that’s probably what they’re calling it — and that’s actually an interesting detail in all this influx of PS5 updates. That’s because Sony’s demo events may have confirmed the one awesome PS5 feature that no one saw coming.

The study is a meta-analysis of research reaching as far back as the 1950s. Ten individual studies were included in this new round of research, with data from nearly four million participants. By lumping all of the data into a larger pile, the researchers can paint an even more accurate picture of how certain factors affect an outcome. In this case, the impact of dog ownership on lifespan was the focus.

Samsung on Tuesday released its earnings guidance for the third quarter, ahead of unveiling its actual results for the quarter later this month, and quickly made headlines for saying the company is expecting to reveal a 56% slide in its profit. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the creator, writer, and star of the critically acclaimed Amazon series Fleabag, is continuing to enjoy something of a moment having just come off a stellar showing at the Emmys and hosting Saturday Night Live this past weekend.

Storage is no longer a significant issue on smartphones, with most devices featuring at least 64GB of flash memory, if not double or even quadruple that amount. In other words, nobody really cares about bloatware — those preinstalled apps that ship with new phones, which used to be a major problem on Android flagships.

If you’re a California resident and happened to be hanging around outside on Monday evening you might have spotted something very special in the skies. Dozens of people have reported spotting a bright streak flash in the sky for a few seconds, and the sighting matches up well with fireball sightings in the past.

Seeing a chunk of space rock streaking across the night sky is always exciting, but this particular sighting wasn’t entirely out of the blue. The Draconid meteor shower is peaking this week, dramatically raising the odds of spotting a fireball across much of the United States, Mexico, and parts of Canada.
