With Game of Thrones out of the picture, several studios have been working on a bunch of fantasy TV series that could replace HBO’s massive TV hit. After all, fans of the genre will now be looking for something similar to digest now that Thrones has ended — and in spectacularly awful fashion, we might add. Two of the biggest ones will come from Netflix and Amazon, although it’s only Netflix that’s ready to premiere its new show this year; Amazon’s Lord of the Rings project hasn’t even started filming. Netflix will soon drop the first trailer for its brand new show The Witcher, and will hopefully tell us when the TV series will finally premiere.

Spider-Man actor Tom Holland actually helped save Spider-Man 3 by pleading with Disney and Sony to come to terms and strike a new deal. As a result, we do have two more Spider-Man movies in store for the MCU, including Spider-Man 3 and what I believe could be the next Avengers sequel (Avengers 5), or at least the massive setup for it. We also heard that Marvel may be getting ready to write Spider-Man out of the MCU for good, and these two films should help Kevin Feige and Co. accomplish that goal so that Sony can use the superhero for its own cinematic universe. Separately, a story said that Marvel and Sony have discussed ways they could share the superhero without having to worry too much about addressing what happens on the other side. After all, Holland’s Spider-Man is a complex character who has been shaped by what happened in the MCU. Ignoring all of that would be a colossal mistake and a huge problem for Sony. But how will Marvel remove Spider-Man from the MCU in a way that it doesn’t hurt fans or Marvel’s own future too much?

I have to be completely honest: I had never even heard of Netflix’s Raising Dion before I saw it skyrocket to the top of TV Time’s latest “Shows on the Rise” list. It’s great that Netflix has so much original content these days, but things tend to get lost in the shuffle as a result. But now, after watching the trailer, I seriously can’t wait to check out Raising Dion and it has catapulted to the top of my list of shows to check out. The first season was just released in its entirety this past Friday, and it’s a superhero origin story that appears to be unlike anything else we’ve seen. It addresses the everyday struggles of a single mother who discovers her son Dion has powers soon after the death of the child’s father, played by Michael B. Jordan.

Apple hasn’t announced a press conference for October, but the company is widely expected to host one this month, just as it has done in previous years. Aside from the iPhone, Apple Watch, and new entry-level iPad that Apple unveiled last month, the company is expected to unveil a few more new products that will hit store shelves in time for the holiday season. Sony surprised us all earlier this year when it revealed a bevy of details about the next-gen PlayStation in an interview with Wired, and now, six months later, Sony opened the floodgates. On Tuesday, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan announced in a blog post on the PlayStation Blog that the next PlayStation will launch in the 2020 holiday season, alongside the next Xbox. And, unsurprisingly, it will indeed be called the PlayStation 5.

But that wasn’t all, as Ryan also provided an update on the controller that will ship with the PS5. And it sounds like it will be a significant upgrade over its predecessor, just as the DualShock 4 was for the PS4.
