According to data gleaned from Mixpanel, iOS 13 user adoption is already off to an impressive start. Just a week after its release, the most recent iteration of Apple’s mobile OS is already on 20% of devices. And if history is any indication, that figure could soon rise to 50% in just two more weeks. Last year, for example, iOS 12 adoption reached 53% just three weeks after its release.

Though the initial incarnation of iOS 13 was a bit buggy — which is why iOS 13.1 was released swiftly thereafter — the user adoption figures above highlight Apple’s impressive ability to get users on the company’s most advanced and up-to-date OS. This, of course, stands in stark contrast to Android where the majority of users are still using relatively outdated OS versions from years ago.

Whether you’re siding with Disney or Sony over the whole Spider-Man MCU mess, it’s crystal clear that bringing Marvel in for Homecoming and Far From Home was a great idea. These movies, especially the latter, brought Peter Parker into the 21st century and went above and beyond anything Sony ever did on its own with the character. One of the credits scenes from the movie is a perfect example of that, delivering one of the most daring twists in Spider-Man history, and one that might never be explored in the MCU because of the split. But Sony seems ready to milk that scene now that Far From Home is ready to launch in digital and Blu-ray formats, and the whole thing is just amazing.

When Marvel president Kevin Feige took the stage at Comic-Con San Diego a few months ago to unveil the next phase of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, he announced several MCU Phase 4 titles and confirmed Marvel is working on Blade, Guardians, and X-Men projects as well. We noted at the time that there’s no Avengers 5 in Phase 4 and explained that Marvel first has to build the foundation for the next massive event. New heroes need to be introduced so the audience gets attached to them before they join the Avengers to face whatever threat might come their way. Then we heard that Marvel is toying with an Avengers crossover idea with the X-Men, which would be an awesome concept for the next Avengers installment. In other words, whatever happens next, we’ll still have to wait a few years for Avengers 5 to drop. But in the meantime, we might see Feige turn his attention to another massive movie franchise.

After a few painfully boring years when smartphone makers released phone after phone that was pretty much the same as every other phone, 2019 has been a breath of fresh air. Apple’s new iPhone 11 series might look a lot like last year’s iPhones from afar, but the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max finally put Apple back on top of the pile where mobile photography, performance, and battery life are concerned. Then on the Android side of the fence, smartphone brands have been coming up will all sorts of exciting new designs and features. This is especially true in China, where companies haven’t merely reached the 100% screen-to-window ratio mark, they’ve surpassed it.

All sorts of exciting new designs have been released this year, which is a fantastic thing for consumers. Unfortunately, however, another trend has accompanied all this innovation: flagship smartphone prices are skyrocketing. High-end smartphones have gotten so expensive over the past year that the top companies in the market have begun to release cheaper, stripped-down versions of them in order to combat slumping sales. Handsets like the iPhone XR, Galaxy S10e, and iPhone 11 are priced in line with premium phones just a few short years ago, but now they sit at the top of the mid-range while flagship prices reach as high as $1,500 or even more. That’s no exaggeration — the top-of-the-line iPhone 11 Pro Max costs a whopping $1,449 before taxes!

That price tag is absolutely insane, there’s no doubt about it. But if you think it’s bad now, I’m about to make it even worse. OnePlus’ upcoming new flagship OnePlus 7T will feature cutting-edge specs, a 6.55-inch AMOLED display, and performance on par with the iPhone 11 Pro Max, but it will cost literally half as much as Apple charges for its flagship phablet.
