New leak details the latest feature Google stole from the iPhone for the Pixel 4

Whether Google admits it or not, the iPhone has clearly been a huge inspiration the Pixel. The first model looked just like an iPhone 6, the Pixel 2 came without a headphone jack, and the Pixel 3 introduced featured a notch. The Pixel 4 series will also get a signature iPhone, one that analysts estimated Android rivals would need two years to replicate. We’re talking about 3D face recognition, which first debuted on the iPhone X in 2017.

Both the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL will feature Face ID-like functionality that will replace fingerprint sensors, and an early review says Google’s Face ID works pretty much like the iPhone, in spite of Google’s earlier claims.

We’re all anxiously awaiting more news about the PlayStation 5, but in the meantime, there are still a few major titles set to hit the PlayStation 4 before Sony moves on to the next generation. In recent months, Sony has begun hosting a live-streamed event called State of Play in order to showcase upcoming games, and the latest edition of the irregular event will kick off on Tuesday, September 24th, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.

According to a blog post on the PlayStation Blog last week, the September State of Play will run for about 20 minutes and will feature “new game reveals, new content from PlayStation’s Worldwide Studios, and a host of other updates.” The event is also apparently “sporting a fresh new look,” whatever that means.

This video of Boston Dynamics’ creepy humanoid robot doing parkour is equal parts amazing and terrifying

%name This video of Boston Dynamics’ creepy humanoid robot doing parkour is equal parts amazing and terrifying by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Robots have always had certain advantages over humans. They’re typically made of more durable materials than the soft tissue covering human bodies and since they can be repaired in the event of damage, they can basically “live” forever. But robots are usually clunky and clumsy, and humans have always had a huge advantage in terms of dexterity.

Thanks to the mad scientists at Boston Dynamics, that appears to be changing. The humanoid Atlas robot, which has already demonstrated incredibly impressive human-like abilities, just keeps getting better and better, and a new video by the company shows that its fluidity of movement has now easily surpassed your own (and mine).

Japan and Russia are about to fire a pair of spacecraft to the International Space Station

%name Japan and Russia are about to fire a pair of spacecraft to the International Space Station by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The International Space Station is always a busy place. Astronauts aboard the orbiting laboratory perform experiments, make observations, and carry out all manner of scientific work as the spacecraft cruises around our planet. But this week will be busier than usual, with not one, but two rocket launches sending supplies and travelers to the ISS.

Japanese space agency JAXA is scheduled to send its HTV-8 cargo ship into space on Tuesday, packed with over four tons of vital supplies as well as new scientific equipment and experiments. Meanwhile, Russia’s Roscosmos is slated to send a new trio of ISS crewmembers skyward on Wednesday morning, with NASA’s Jessica Meir, Russia’s Oleg Skripochka, and Hazzaa Ali Almansoori of the UAE arriving at the space station by mid-afternoon, EDT.

%name Amazon has a $15 smart plug that works with an app, Alexa, Google, or even Siri by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Wi-Fi smart plugs are a dime a dozen these days. In addition to adding app control to all your “dumb” devices, these brilliant little boxes also let you control devices with your voice. They’re pretty much all compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant these days, but Siri support is harder to come by. Plus, Siri-compatible smart plugs are often far more expensive than other models. That’s why the VOCOlinc Smart Plug is so great — it supports app control, Alexa, Google Assistant, and even Siri control, and it’s only $15 if you buy a 2-pack!

iPhone 11 Pro Max battery life crushes Note 10+ and other Android flagships

%name iPhone 11 Pro Max battery life crushes Note 10+ and other Android flagships by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

As expected, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro aren’t the most substantial upgrades Apple’s smartphone line has ever seen. Other than the new triple-camera system on the Pro and Pro Max models, the designs are virtually identical, as the next major redesign is expected to debut next year. But aside from the camera, one other area where the iPhone 11 series saw significant improvement was in the battery life department.

During its September event, Apple announced that the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max would last for four and five hours longer than their respective predecessors. Early reports back that up, but a battery life test from YouTuber Mrwhosetheboss shows how the iPhone 11 series compares to other top Android flagships as well.

%name iOS 13.1 is now available to download with bug fixes and new features by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Shortly before iOS 13 was seeded last Friday, Apple quietly announced that iOS 13.1 — originally slated to launch on September 30th — was having its release date moved up to September 24th. While Apple didn’t disclose any details about why the release date was being pushed up, it’s no secret that iOS 13 was abnormally buggy, which suggests that Apple wanted to get a more stable release out to users as quickly as possible.

Now, just four days after iOS 13 rolled out, iOS 13.1 and iPadOS 13.1 are available for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Whether you were patient enough to wait for this emergency update or upgraded to iOS 13 the minute it popped up last week, you should definitely update your compatible device to iOS 13.1 immediately.
