Galaxy S11 might get a revolutionary feature everyone wants on the iPhone 12

%name Galaxy S11 might get a revolutionary feature everyone wants on the iPhone 12 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Before in-display fingerprint sensors began proliferating, everyone was so excited about the prospect. Android phone makers had been moving their fingerprint sensors to the back of their phones in order to make room for larger displays with narrower bezels. Then there’s Apple, which decided to abandon fingerprint sensors entirely in favor of 3D face recognition, for better or worse. In-display fingerprint readers would allow companies to keep their sleek new all-screen designs without removing fingerprint readers or relocating them to the back, which is the worst possible location as far as user experience is concerned. The problem, of course, is that there’s no tactile target to touch when a fingerprint sensor is embedded behind a smartphone screen. As a result, it’s quite difficult to unlock your smartphone without looking at it to see exactly where your finger should touch. While in-display fingerprint readers are definitely nifty, they actually ended up slowing everyone down.

This UX problem is quite real, but the good news is that it’s only temporary. We’re only in the earliest stages of this neat technology, and next-generation tech is already being developed behind closed doors. We’ve heard rumors that several companies are working on new embedded fingerprint sensors that offer a fantastic solution to this problem, and now the latest leak suggests that Samsung’s improved in-display fingerprint reader could make its debut as soon as early next year in the Galaxy S11 series.

This crazy new Android phone is almost entirely screen

%name This crazy new Android phone is almost entirely screen by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Forget the Mate 30 Pro and the Vivo Nex 3 with their hot waterfall displays, because there’s a new smartphone in town that has more screen than any other regular “all-screen” phone available right now. Aside from the large wrap-around display that gives the handset a mind-blowing 180.6% screen-to-body-ratio, the device features other new technologies that make possible such a design, and it’s the first handset in the world to ship with a 108-megapixel primary camera sensor. All of that comes with a rather steep price, at $2,815, or 19,999 yuan, because this phone will launch initially in China.

‘Stranger Things 4’ fan theory may explain how Hopper survived the finale

%name ‘Stranger Things 4’ fan theory may explain how Hopper survived the finale by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The way things ended in Stranger Things season 3, we know that some of the characters went through major life changes, leaving the fictional city of Hawkins in search of a better life elsewhere. The decision was, of course, precipitated by one of the main characters of the series seemingly dying in a heartwrenching scene.

But is that person really dead? Watching that crazy post-credits scene at the end of the final episode before seeing the season itself gave me an idea of what would happen. Watching it again after I had actually seen every season 3 episode made me think that character wasn’t actually dead. And now a fan theory might explain how the showrunners pulled the trick off. If you still haven’t seen Stranger Things 3, you should know that major spoilers follow.

Scientists discover entirely new mineral hiding out in South Africa

%name Scientists discover entirely new mineral hiding out in South Africa by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We generally have a pretty solid grasp of what kinds of materials exist in Earth’s crust, but despite centuries of study, sometimes our planet throws researchers a curveball. For one Ph.D. student from the University of Alberta, that curveball took the form of a never-before-seen mineral tucked away inside a diamond at a volcanic site in South Africa.

Nicole Meyer and a team of researchers were the first to identify the mineral now known as Goldschmidtite, a strange combination of elements that could offer a glimpse into the inner workings of Earth’s mantle.

Amazon to introduce new wireless earbuds and a high-end Echo device this week

%name Amazon to introduce new wireless earbuds and a high end Echo device this week by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Amazon is planning to release a new pair of Alexa-powered wireless earbuds, according to a new report from CNBC. Interestingly, the device is said to boast an accelerometer which would provide the backbone for a number of fitness-oriented features Amazon plans to include.

Specifically, the report notes that Amazon’s headphones will “be able to monitor things like distance run, calories burned and pace of running.” From what we can gather, it seems like Amazon’s wireless earbuds will be something of a cross between Apple’s AirPods and a standard fitness tracker. All in all, it sounds like a rather smart strategy.

Nintendo’s new Switch Lite may share one of the original Switch’s biggest issues

%name Nintendo’s new Switch Lite may share one of the original Switch’s biggest issues by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Following the disaster that was the Wii U, Nintendo needed the Switch to be a success. And it was. The console has revitalized the company’s image, and it should have a much longer shelf life than that of the Wii U. But the hardware, while unique, isn’t perfect, as anyone who has ever experienced “Joy-Con drift” can tell you.

Switch owners have been experiencing issues with Joy-Con controllers for years, but the phenomenon of inputs being detected by the console even when the joystick wasn’t being touched became such an epidemic that Nintendo began offering to repair drifting Joy-Con controllers free of charge. And now it seems that the same issue is affecting some Switch Lite models, even though the controllers aren’t removable.
