Police shootings tend to dominate headlines wherever and whenever they happen, and rightfully so, but sometimes “less-than-lethal” weapons like tasers end up being equally deadly. Facebook is reportedly developing augmented reality (AR) glasses with a twist. These won’t be tethered to a mobile device, but will instead work as a standalone product that could replace smartphones. Facebook aims to release the product by 2025, but the company doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to making hardware that people actually want to buy. Remember the first and only Facebook Phone?

That HTC-made phone never had a future. Plus, Facebook isn’t at the top of the list of companies you’d trust with your mobile data. NASA is currently planning to finally send humans back to the lunar surface by 2024. It’s an incredibly ambitious and optimistic timeline, and there are plenty of experts who believe NASA may not be able to pull it off.

Sending things into space is hard, and safely ferrying humans to a destination in space is even harder. So, when a company called The Gateway Foundation says it’ll have a functional space hotel up and running by 2025 — complete with artificial gravity, luxurious suites, restaurants, gyms, and just about every other amenity you can think of — well, let’s just say you shouldn’t hold your breath.

That’s when El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie will arrive on the streaming service and pick up where we left off with Aaron Paul’s fan-favorite character, Jesse Pinkman — showing us what happened after Jesse sped away from the gang of neo-Nazis, finally free.

Netflix, meanwhile, has also made another important note about October 11. That’s also when El Camino will begin a short theatrical run. And when we say short, we mean really short.

If there’s one thing you can say about NASA it’s that the space agency really does do its best to make its projects accessible to even the most casual space fans. In recent years, NASA has made a habit out of sending the names of everyday people along for the ride during some of its most high-profile missions, and the upcoming Mars 2020 launch will be no different.

Back in May, NASA opened submissions for names to be included on the Mars 2020 mission. The names, which will be printed in almost impossibly small text on a chip included on the Mars 2020 rover, are being gathered via a sign-up form on the agency’s website. Now, with just a couple of weeks left before submissions are closed forever, NASA is making its “final boarding call.”

As if anyone needed a reminder that the TV landscape continues to evolve, NBC announced this week that its forthcoming streaming service — named Peacock, after the network’s iconic logo — will be the home of a slew of content both new and old. The latter includes classic comedies like The Office and Parks and Recreation, adding NBC’s streamer that launches in April to the long list of services coming soon from Apple, Disney, and other big players.

One obvious consequence of the launch of these and other services: The inexorable growth in cord-cutting, as consumers abandon the cable TV industry in favor of streaming options that offer better pricing and convenience. And it’s with that in mind that two new surveys are out — from Roku and Consumer Reports — which both shine a new light on this unstoppable trend.
