This crazy new slider design with a waterfall display might be Samsung’s Galaxy S11

Assuming Samsung still moves ahead with S-series handsets early next year, it’s likely that we’ll get a trio of Galaxy S11 variants topping out with a Plus-branded size at the high end — and maybe even wowing fans of the brand with an innovative new design. We say “assuming” Samsung presses forward with an S11 in early 2020, because as we noted on Monday a rumor has begun to circulate (attributable to well-known leaker Evan Blass) that Samsung will merge its S and Note handset brands, producing something new possibly in lieu of an S11 next year.

Meanwhile, Samsung’s design teams are still hard at work behind the scenes and have just patented a stylish-looking slider design that could very well end up a part of the S11, should Samsung end up moving forward with it after all.

Tons of sources now say that iPhone 11 preorders are crushing it

%name Tons of sources now say that iPhone 11 preorders are crushing it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

An insider familiar with Apple’s supply chain said in a note to clients earlier this week that iPhone 11 preorders were off to a good start, just as we noted that most iPhone 11 Pro versions were sold out, as were several of the new iPhone 11 color options. It took Apple less than three days to run out of stock of some models, offering delivery estimates of up to three weeks for some of them. But Ming-Chi Kuo isn’t the only analyst who observed a significant sales improvement during the preorder period.

Fisherman snags ‘alien’ fish that looks like something straight out of a horror movie

Earth’s oceans are home to an incredible number of interesting creatures, and sometimes certain species show up where you’d least expect them. That’s exactly what happened to a fisherman off the coast of Norway during a routine fishing trip that yielded a beast rarely seen near the surface.

Oscar Lundahl, a 19-year-old fishing guide for Nordic Sea Angling, was hoping to catch some blue halibut in deep water off the coast. Instead, Lundahl snagged a ratfish, and if you didn’t know better, you might think it was something from another dimension.

It’s increasingly a subscription-based world we live in. Nobody buys music to own anymore; they pay for monthly subscriptions to streaming services. Between Netflix, cable packages, news media — even new offerings like the soon-to-launch Apple Arcade, a $5/month gaming service that includes the first month free — it’s a lot to keep track of. Thankfully, the app DoNotPay has launched a new feature called Free Trial Surfing that purports to take some of the pain out of subscriptions. Specifically, around the free trial periods of subscriptions that people often forget about and then start unwittingly paying for after the free trial ends.

Astronomers snap photo of second known interstellar object

%name Astronomers snap photo of second known interstellar object by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The astronomy world received a rare treat last week when an object presumed to be from outside our own solar system was spotted for only the second time ever. At the time, very little was known about the interstellar visitor, but in the days since its initial discovery by an amateur skywatcher, high-powered telescopes have been directed at the object to get a better look.

Now, the Gemini Observatory has released a stunning image of the object, which has been named C/2019 Q4 (Borisov). The object, which is now believed to be a comet, is easily identifiable thanks to its hazy, cone-shaped tail.

%name A brand new Android phone you can’t buy is as close as we’ve seen to a perfect design by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’re getting awfully close to the all-screen phone with all want, thanks to several innovations that have allowed smartphone vendors to reduce bezels to a minimum and increase screen real estate without also increasing the overall footprint of the handset. Most phones still come with various design compromises as technology isn’t quite ready to deliver a perfect all-screen handset with a display that hides the selfie camera, 3D face recognition sensors, fingerprint sensors, and speaker. That’s why we have phones with notches, slide-out cameras, and hole-punch displays.

But a new device announced this week, which you can’t actually buy, gets us even closer to that design.
