Amazon’s daily deals page disappeared – here’s how to find it

  • Amazon’s featured deal section recently vanished from its mobile apps and website as the company temporarily focuses on selling essential goods to hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
  • What many people don’t realize is that the deals haven’t disappeared, they’re just no longer featured or linked on Amazon’s home pages.
  • In this post, we’ll show you how to get to Amazon’s special deals page — which you should definitely bookmark — and we’ll highlight some of today’s top deals.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

If you’re a bargain hunter like me, one of the first things you normally do each day is open up Amazon to check for the latest deals. You head to Amazon’s home page right when you sit down at your computer each morning, or you fire up the Amazon app on your smartphone. If you’re on your phone, you can see Amazon’s marquee deal of the day right after the app opens and you can easily tap a link to see all of Amazon’s featured deals. If you’re on a computer and you visit the website instead, your mouse instinctively heads for the deals link that’s prominently placed right under the search box.

Of course, if you open the app on your phone right now, featured deals are nowhere to be found. And if you’re on a computer, that deals link you’re so accustomed to clicking each morning and periodically throughout the day has disappeared. Has Amazon stopped running daily deals and lightning deals due to the novel coronavirus pandemic?

No, of course not. Amazon might have temporarily shifted many of its resources away from nonessential goods so that it can focus on shipping essentials and medical supplies to hospitals, but it’s still a deals site first and foremost. Yes, it’s true that Amazon’s deals are a bit harder to find right now, but they’re still available, hidden on the site just waiting to be found. So how do you find them? It’s simple, just visit this special Amazon deals page, which you should definitely bookmark right now.

Amazon Deals Of the Day and Featured Sales: $0.99+

Lo and behold… it’s the Amazon deals page you’ve been missing! There, you’ll find all the featured Gold Box deals of the day that Amazon is offering on any given day, as well as a slew of lightning deals and featured deals from across every product category you can imagine.

Head to that page right now, for example, and you’ll find Amazon’s best-selling face masks for just 78¢ each, hand sanitizer that’s back in stock and ready to ship, AirPods 2 on sale at up to $30 off and AirPods Pro shipping out right away at Amazon’s lowest price ever, over 1,000 discounted books in Amazon’s monthly Kindle deals section as well as a separate sale on best-selling Kindle books, the most popular 15W fast wireless charger on Amazon for just $5, the lowest price of 2020 for the only smartphone-connected Instant Pot, and plenty more.

There are so many more deals where those came from, and that doesn’t even cover the hundreds of lightning deals available on Amazon at any given time. Head over to the Amazon deals page to check it all out, and don’t forget to bookmark it so you can keep checking back daily.

Huge iPhone 12 leak reveals several next-gen features

  • Apple’s iPhone 12 Pro models to feature 120Hz ProMotion display.
  • iPhone 12 Pro models will reportedly include a bigger battery to support the improved refresh rate and 5G support.
  • All of Apple’s iPhone 12 models will include huge camera improvements.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Whenever Apple introduces a new technology, it typically appears on the iPhone before making its way over to the iPad. Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion display, however, has long been a glaring exception to the rule. Originally introduced as a feature on Apple’s iPad Pro models, a new video from the EverythingApple Pro YouTube channel reveals that the advanced display technology will finally be coming to the iPhone with the release of the iPhone 12 later this year.

The displays on Apple’s iPhone 11 boast a 60Hz refresh rate, so the updated iPhone 12 display should allow for improved responsiveness, more fluid scrolling, and “smoother motion content.” The leak also claims that the iPhone 12 Pro models will incorporate dynamic variable refresh switching which will alternate between 60Hz and 120Hz depending on the use-case environment.

The 78¢ coronavirus face masks everyone swarms Amazon for are in stock

%name The 78¢ coronavirus face masks everyone swarms Amazon for are in stock by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • All people should be wearing face masks anytime they leave their homes according to the CDC, and Amazon’s best-selling 3-layer face masks are now back in stock at their best price — just 78¢ per mask.
  • As long as you continue to practice strict social distancing and good hygiene, these masks do a fantastic job of giving you added protection.
  • Shelter-in-place policies are now starting to be dialed back and nonessential businesses are reopening far too soon, so it’s more important than ever that you protect yourself from the inevitable second wave of COVID-19 infections.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Despite all the craziness you’re seeing right now, there is something important that you absolutely must keep in mind: unless you’re a doctor, a nurse, or a first responder on the front lines of the war against the novel coronavirus pandemic, you don’t need an N95 respirator face mask. Even if you come across some N95 masks that are available to purchase, you absolutely shouldn’t buy them under any circumstances and there are two main reasons. First and foremost, there’s still a horrible shortage of N95 face masks and people selling them on the black market are further reducing the number of masks that are available to the healthcare industry. Second, any N95 masks you come across right now will undoubtedly be severely overpriced, and they’re a waste of money if you don’t have a real need.

Face Mask, Pack of 50: $38.99 ($0.78 / Mask)

Should you ensure that you wear a face mask each and every time you leave your house right now? Yes, you absolutely should. Even the CDC says so. People with nonessential jobs are being advised to continue to shelter in place right now. Even if businesses start to open up in early May like the White House wants despite the advice of pretty much every expert out there, you should still continue to quarantine yourself and only go out when you absolutely must. When you do have to go out to pick up groceries or do something else that is absolutely necessary, the CDC advises us all to use some type of protective face covering in order to limit the transmission of the novel coronavirus. That DOES NOT mean you should wear an N95 mask or even the KN95 masks that are now flooding the market from China. As long as you practice social distancing and good hygiene, a standard face mask will do just fine.

There are a bunch of different options out there that won’t block healthcare professionals from getting the medical-grade face masks they all need so desperately. We recently told you how to quickly and easily make your own DIY face masks using supplies that you likely already have lying around your home, and they’re far more effective than other cloth DIY face mask instructions you’ll find online. If you want to step things up a bit, someone reverse-engineered an N95 face mask and posted instructions to make your own, complete with a virus neutralizer.

If you’re not the DIY type though, don’t worry because we have some excellent news for you.

Face Mask, Pack of 50: $38.99 ($0.78 / Mask)

Last week, we told you that Amazon’s best-selling face masks by Jointown were back in stock and available to ship out right away. The wildly popular Jointown masks are linked above, and now there’s another best-seller that just came back in stock: Pacli 3-ply face masks. This second option is sold by Amazon so orders might arrive even faster, and they’re only $0.80 per mask compared to $0.78 for Jointown masks. Just note that the one-star review on there is from some moron who doesn’t understand that all of these masks are made in China and obviously cannot have live coronavirus on them by the time they arrive in the United States.

Both of these options are 3-layer masks that do a great job of blocking things from your airways and preventing the virus from spreading if you already have it — provided you also take the necessary precautions and practice strict social distancing. These are not N95 masks or medical-grade surgical masks, and that’s important to note. That said, the CDC recommends that we wear cloth face coverings like these masks anytime we leave the house. They’re also much better than most of the cloth DIY face masks that people are sharing plans for online right now.

Face Mask, Pack of 50: $39.99 ($0.80 / Mask)

When we told you about these face masks arriving back in stock on Amazon, tens of thousands of our readers rushed over to the site to buy them. Incredibly, however, these best-selling masks are still in stock and still available to ship right away. There are other face masks available right now on Amazon as well, so if shipping times start to slip back you can always use that page to find comparable masks. Another popular option among our readers lately is the even thicker Anntuk 4-ply face mask. It’s a bit pricier than the other ones we’ve mentioned, but plenty of people out there are willing to pay for the extra sense of security. If you ask us, the 3-ply masks are more than good enough.

Thick 4-Ply Face Shield with Elastic Ear Loop Cover Full Face Anti-Dust(1PCS): $14.99

The aforementioned face masks from Amazon and the two DIY masks we linked earlier in this article are all great options, and they’ll definitely do the job if you also remain vigilant. Stay at home unless you absolutely must go out. Practice social distancing and stay as far away from other people when you do have to leave the house. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer as frequently as possible, especially after touching surfaces outside of your home.

Snapdragon 768G will bring killer performance to affordable 5G Androids

  • Qualcomm unveiled a brand new mobile processor for mid-range affordable Android smartphones.
  • The Snapdragon 768G supports worldwide 5G, 120Hz displays, and features a faster CPU and GPU.
  • The first phone to run on the 768G processor is going to be the Redmi K30 5G Racing Edition handset from Xiaomi.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Price may be an even more important factor when buying a new phone this year, as the novel coronavirus health crisis had a massive impact on the economy. Smartphone sales aren’t doing great as a result, and that’s hardly surprising. Millions of people have lost their jobs, so buying a new phone will not be a priority for quite a while. Apple just released a budget iPhone that has no match on the other side. The 2020 iPhone SE offers the same performance as the iPhone 11 phones but costs only $399, which is a great price to pay for a device that’s going to last for several years. Android handset makers have plenty of new mid-range offerings for buyers looking for affordable handsets, and the upcoming $399 Pixel 4a will be one such example. But mid-range Androids are about to get better thanks to a brand new chip from Qualcomm that will support 120Hz screens, worldwide 5G, and sport a better gaming performance.

Microsoft is fixing one of the worst things about email

  • Microsoft has enabled a Reply All Storm Protection feature to all Office 365 accounts worldwide.

We may be talking to friends and coworkers via instant messaging more than ever, but email isn’t going away anytime soon. Like it or not, we all depend on email to some extent, and we’re yet to see anyone overhaul the email experience. But several companies are still trying to improve email, and one of them is trying to fix one of the worst things about email. Microsoft has just enabled a feature it announced last year on Microsoft 365 (Office 365) accounts that will prevent annoying “Replay All Storms” in the future.

Astronomers capture breathtaking ‘lucky’ image of Jupiter’s raging storms

  • Using the infrared imaging capabilities of the Gemini North telescope in Hawaii, astronomers have produced one of the most detailed images of Jupiter ever captured from Earth.
  • Infrared imaging cuts through the cloud tops and reveals the detailed structures below, helping scientists to better understand the forces that power the planet’s swirling storms.

As the largest and one of the most iconic planets in our solar system, Jupiter has been a target of observation countless times over the years. Despite that, every once in a while we’re treated to a new look at the gas giant that reminds us just how ridiculously awesome it really is.

The latest image to accomplish that feat comes from a team of researchers using the Gemini North telescope in Hawaii. The capture is an incredibly rare treat, and it’s an unusually high-resolution image considering it was snapped from the ground. It’s also quite special thanks to the fact that it was shot in infrared, which can cut through Jupiter’s wispy, swirling cloud tops to reveal what’s going on below.

Researchers found an novel way to treat snakebite victims

%name Researchers found an novel way to treat snakebite victims by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • A new research study claims that administering an oral drug to snakebite victims can inhibit the venom from taking hold, thus giving victims more time to seek appropriate medical care.
  • Poisonous snakes can kill more than 100,000 people a year, a figure much larger than deaths resulting from the murder hornet everyone is buzzing about right now.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

If you’ve been paying attention to the news lately, you might have seen some concern about murder hornets, otherwise known as Asian Giant Hornets, invading the United States. While murder hornets look like the stuff nightmares are made out of, the truth is that they only kill a handful of people every year and aren’t really a threat to humans. In truth, murder hornets — which can sometimes grow to be more than 2-inches long — are dangerous because of the threat they pose to local honeybee populations, not to people.

Interestingly, though perhaps not surprisingly, snakes pose a much more dangerous threat to humans. In fact, there tend to be more snake-related deaths, on average, in a single week than bee or hornet-related deaths over the course of an entire year. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), anywhere from 80,000 to 140,000 people die every year from snake bites. Historically, one of the inherent problems with getting that number lower is that snake bites often occur out in the wild and getting proper treatment often requires a clinical setting and the intravenous administration of antivenom. A new research study, however, may provide a new treatment option to help keep snake bite victims alive until proper treatment can be given.

A special drug combo is speeding up recovery in coronavirus patients

%name A special drug combo is speeding up recovery in coronavirus patients by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Doctors from China conducted a Phase 2 trial for a triple-drug therapy in COVID-19 cases, proving that the three medicines can speed up recovery in mild to moderate cases.
  • Coronavirus patients who were given the three drugs being asymptomatic faster than the control group and cleared the virus in an average time of one week.
  • The control group that was on an HIV drug that is also being tested for COVID-19 needed 12 days, on average, to test negative for the novel coronavirus.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

The novel coronavirus had infected more than 4 million people worldwide as of Saturday morning, of which nearly 280,000 died fighting the disease. Some 2.4 million cases remain active around the world, but the number is likely far higher than that. Asymptomatic and mild COVID-19 patients can go undetected in many countries where there aren’t enough tests to go around. But the world has made tremendous progress at treating the disease and it’s going to be even easier to treat patients in the years to come, as we wait for viable vaccines to become widely available.

Remdesivir can reduce the recovery time from 15 days to 11 days according to a study that included more than 1,000 people, and is considered standard therapy for COVID-19. There’s not enough of the drug to go around though, so remdesivir alone won’t be enough. The drug can’t reduce mortality rates either, so additional medicines will be required. Blood thinners can reduce COVID-19 complications and death risk, as a different study has shown. Men given a specific type of prostate cancer treatment might also experience a milder COVID-19 case.

These are all COVID-19 therapy developments that have been detailed in the past few days. Now, we have gotten word of another novel coronavirus treatment that works, a triple-drug combo that can dramatically speed up recovery in mild and moderate cases.
