Huawei just unveiled the chip that will power the iPhone 11’s biggest rival

%name Huawei just unveiled the chip that will power the iPhone 11’s biggest rival by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Huawei at IFA 2019 in Berlin took the wraps off of its next-gen mobile processor, the Kirin 990 system-on-chip (SoC) that will power the Mate 30 phones, including the Mate 30 Pro that could be the most important iPhone 11 rival launching this year.

If this sounds familiar, it’s because Huawei is repeating what it did 2018, when it announced the world’s first 7nm chip at the same trade show, just a few days before Apple unveiled its own 7nm A12 chip that ended up powering all 2018 iPhones and new iPad Pros — the latter ended up being the world’s first commercial 7nm chip. The Kirin 990 marks a couple of first for Huawei as well, one of which Apple won’t be able to match.

Apple’s forthcoming iPhones aren’t the only handsets kicking up a steady stream of fresh leaks at the moment. Google’s upcoming Pixel 4 models have been generating a modest flurry of leaks, video, images, and other tidbits ahead of their release later this fall. We already knew, for example, that both variants of the phone are rumored to include Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 855, in addition to OLED displays. We should be getting a 5.7-inch 1080p display with the smaller Pixel 4, with a 6.3-inch 1440p screen on the larger model.

Meanwhile, thanks to some since-deleted images shared via Weibo, we’ve seen what appears to be a few close-up shots of the Pixel 4 with some additional details revealed.

These jaw-dropping wireless speakers outperform everything else we’ve tested

%name These jaw dropping wireless speakers outperform everything else we’ve tested by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

I have to be honest: I’m sort of angry at Edifier right now. I was perfectly happy with the various speakers I use in my home, thinking that they sounded great. Then I tried the Edifier S3000Pro Audiophile Active Speakers and learned that they don’t sound anywhere near as good as I thought they did. Long story short, I’m ruined. If you want to be ruined too in the best possible way, check out a pair of these speakers on Amazon. They support analog connections, digital connections, and Bluetooth 5.0, and they seriously sound better than any comparable speakers we’ve tested from Sonos, Bose, Sony, and more.

Edifier S3000Pro Audiophile Active Speakers – Bluetooth 5.0 aptX Wireless, USB Audio, Planar Di…: $799.99

Here’s some additional info from the product page:

  • WIRELESS LEFT/RIGHT SPEAKER SETUP – Edifier’s first plug-in speaker system that offers wireless left and right speakers — creating new possibilities for more pleasing, practical audio setups.
  • KLEERNET WIRELESS TECHNOLOGY – For vastly improved efficiency and quality over traditional Bluetooth speakers. Near lossless audio quality at up to 328ft (100m)
  • HIGH QUALITY STREAMING AND EASY CONNECTIVITY – Certified Hi-Res audio and Bluetooth 5.0 support with aptX HD Decoding. Together, they provide airy, transparent studio-quality sound from USB audio bitrates of up to 24Bit/192KHz for near lossless sound quality. Perfect for enthusiasts, artists and industry professionals alike.
  • CLEAR MORE NATURAL SOUNDING HIGHS – Edifier’s signature planar diaphragm tweeter provide clearer, better highs than the competition. Discover new sensations from old songs.
  • POWERFUL ROOM-SHAKING BASS – Courtesy of a 6.5″ aluminium alloy diaphragm bass unit. Get the strong distortion-less bass you need for everything from movies to music.

We’re just days away from the official unveiling of the next-generation iPhone, but it’s never too early to look ahead to next year. On Friday, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo released a new research note in which he predicted the three most significant upgrades that Apple will bring to the 2020 iPhone line next fall.

In the note, which 9to5Mac had a chance to see, Kuo predicted that the iPhone 12 will feature “(1) all-new form factor design, (2) 5G support, and (3) camera function upgrades.” He believes that these changes will drive year-over-year growth of the iPhone as high as it has ever been, despite declines in recent years.

Apple calls Google’s Project Zero report on iOS malware misleading

%name Apple calls Google’s Project Zero report on iOS malware misleading by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

About a week ago, security researchers from Google’s Project Zero team provided us with details of an extremely sophisticated malware attack targeting China’s Uyghur Muslim community. Through a chain of zero-day exploits, iPhone owners who visited infected websites often frequented by the Uyghur community had malware installed onto their devices. From there, the malware was able to collect user photos, private messages, and even GPS location data in real-time.

In response to the original Project Zero report, Apple today issued an official response which seemingly categorizes Project Zero’s report as alarmist. Put simply, Apple doesn’t’ deny that the malware existed, but takes issue with the extent of the issue. For instance, the original Project Zero report claims that the infected websites in question were operational for two years. Apple denies this and claims that they were only operational for two months.
