If you’re a resident of New York state and happened to be hanging around outside on Monday evening you might have heard something unexpected. Several individuals across the central portion of the state reported hearing a loud boom which had no obvious source. Now, scientists think they have an explanation.

According to the American Meteor Society, the reports of a booming sound match closely with other reports of a fireball sighting near Lake Ontario. The timing of the sound and eyewitness reports of a bright streak in the sky which lasted for about a minute are telltale signs of a fireball exploding in Earth’s atmosphere.

The eye of Hurricane Dorian looks absolutely insane from space

%name The eye of Hurricane Dorian looks absolutely insane from space by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Hurricane Dorian continues to batter the East Coast of the United States with high winds and plenty of rain, and as the storm creeps slowly north it’s prompted widespread evacuations across several counties. It will be several more days until the hurricane, now considered a category 2 storm, burns itself out, and North America isn’t out of the woods yet.

Things are quite a bit calmer on the International Space Station, and the astronauts working high above Earth have already provided us with some stunning views of the storm as it made its way across the ocean. Now, a new photo posted by NASA astronaut Nick Hague gives us a glimpse into the eye of the storm, and it’s incredible.

Anyone who has tried Sony’s WH-1000XM3 wireless noise cancelling headphones knows that Sony means business. There’s simply nothing else out there that even comes close. Then I tried Sony WF-1000XM3 Noise Cancelling Truly Wireless Earbuds. All I can say is… wow. I still prefer the sound quality and tuning of the MW07 headphones, but the noise cancelling feature on the Sony model is pretty jaw-dropping. Trust me, you have to experience it for yourself.

Huawei confirmed it’ll launch the Mate 30 series on September 19th, almost a month earlier than we expected, and just a day before Apple’s new iPhone 11 models hit stores. The Mate 30 Pro will be the star of the new Mate lineup, and one of the most important Android handsets of the second half of the year. The phone’s design and main features were leaked in earlier reports when we also got to see it in the wild, as Mate 30 Pro prototypes were photographed in China. But a new leak gives us our best look yet at Huawei’s new Mate flagship, revealing some of its best-kept secrets in the process.

%name HBO just announced when its new ‘Watchmen’ TV series will premiere by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A few days ago, we learned the official launch date for one of the most anticipated new TV series of the year, Netflix’s The Witcher, but that’s hardly the only hot new show set to premiere this fall. HBO has a couple of brand new creations of its own, including His Dark Materials and Watchmen. The latter will surely sound familiar, especially if you’re a fan of the classic comics that Damon Lindelof has adapted for HBO. And it won’t be long before this new original series debuts on TV and HBO’s streaming services.

Google Maps just got a great new feature – but only on iPhone, not Android

%name Google Maps just got a great new feature – but only on iPhone, not Android by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A few days ago, Google brought one of the features that was missing from the desktop Google Maps experience to the mobile versions of the app. That’s Street View support, which can now easily be enabled from the layers button. The feature is only available on Android for the time being though, which is hardly surprising. But Google also brought a handy feature to the iPhone version of Google Maps that doesn’t seem to be available on Android, which is quite strange considering Android is, you know, Google’s own mobile platform.
