Galaxy Fold’s new release date finally leaked, and it couldn’t come at a worse time

Intended to be the kind of flagship device that would certify Samsung as one of the leading innovators in the mobile business, the Galaxy Fold has been anything but. The first foldable Galaxy handset was supposed to launch on April 26th, but then Samsung was forced to abruptly cancel the phone’s release just days after early reviewers discovered a few severe quality issues with the handset. It was the worst thing that can happen with a foldable display during testing: the foldable screens were breaking. Two separate issues made the screen unusable, forcing Samsung to go back to the drawing board in search of fixes to the problems.

It took Samsung several months to come forward with a redesign of the hinge and of the foldable plastic film on top of the screen. Then, Samsung quietly started taking pre-order registrations for the Galaxy Fold in China and then in the US, looking to see whether buyers were still interested in the device. Samsung has yet to announce a new release date of the handset, but the date new has just leaked from a reliable source… and it couldn’t come at a worse time for Samsung.

%name You’re crazy if you don’t get Amazon’s $25 Alexa smart plug while it’s down to $5 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

There was some confusion last time we covered this deal — which is one of the best deals we’ve ever seen on Amazon, period — so we wanted to cover it again for two reasons. First, the confusion stemmed from people who simply didn’t our post, so we’re putting this important note front and center. In fact, we’ll even make it bold: this deal is only available to some people, so the special coupon code will not work for everyone. And second, this deal is straight-up bonkers so if you missed it when we covered it last week, now is your chance to get in on the action.

So what’s this incredible deal we’re discussing? If you’re lucky enough to be eligible, you can use the coupon code AMZNPLUG at checkout to get a $25 Amazon Smart Plug for just $5. No, seriously, just $5! How do you know if you’re eligible? It’s actually pretty simple — when you visit the Amazon Smart Plug page, you’ll see the following banner near the top of the screen:

We can state conclusively that MANY people are indeed eligible for the deal because thousands upon thousands of our readers have gotten it since we covered it on the site last week.

Now, there’s one more important point we have to stress. In fact, we’ll make this bold as well so that people read it: even if you’re not eligible for the deal now, you might be eligible at a later date. On our own Amazon account, we noticed that we were able to see the deal last week, then it vanished, then it reappeared on our account on Tuesday morning. So if you can’t use the special coupon code today, just bookmark this page and check again tomorrow or later this week!

iPhone 11 benchmark leak spills what few secrets were left

%name iPhone 11 benchmark leak spills what few secrets were left by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

This past weekend, you might have seen what looked like a huge iPhone 11 specs leak that was covered by tons of tech blogs out there, and you might’ve wondered why it wasn’t covered here on BGR. The answer is pretty simple: it was fake. Not only was it fake, it was beyond obvious that it was fake and all the gadget blogs out there that covered it were merely looking for clicks. Much of what we know about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 11 lineup was leaked by inside sources that are almost never wrong about this sort of thing. So when a new leak pops up from an unknown source and contradicts several key specs or features that have been reported by far more reliable leakers, we don’t pay it any mind and neither should you. Besides, if you were looking for a new iPhone 11 specs leak, it turns out you only had to wait a few more days because a legitimate leak just came along and spilled what few iPhone 11 secrets remained.

Case in point: the already-affordable Anker Powerwave Pad 10W Fast Wireless Charger can be yours for just $9.99 when you check out with the coupon code LABOR2503. This is Anker’s best-selling fast wireless charging pad, and $9.99 matches its lowest price ever!

Apple’s iPhone 11 event is set for September 10th, which means we’re exactly one week away from the press conference many fans have been waiting for. The company is expected to unveil three new iPhone models during the keynote, as well as new Apple Watch models. The Apple Watch Series 5 will probably be a tiny refresh over last year’s model, featuring the same overall design. The new smartwatch might come in titanium and ceramic options, previous reports have said. And watchOS 6, also launching next week, should introduce an exciting new Apple Watch feature that some of you have been waiting for a long while to hit the wearable device. However, the new capability might also force you to alter your Apple Watch habits.

Samsung already launched two 5G handsets this year, including the Galaxy S10 5G and the Note 10 5G, with the latter having been unveiled less than a month ago. Both of them are on the pricier side of things, so if you want to experience whatever limited 5G networks are available in your area on an affordable Samsung phone, the S10 and Note 10 aren’t it. However, Samsung just unveiled the cheaper 5G flagship we were waiting for, the Galaxy A90.

Ford’s all-electric F-150 may beat Tesla’s pickup truck to market

%name Ford’s all electric F 150 may beat Tesla’s pickup truck to market by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It may come as something of a surprise, but pickup trucks are routinely the best-selling vehicles in the U.S. In 2018, for example, the top 3 selling vehicles included Ford’s F-Series, the Chevrolet Silverado, and the Dodge Ram.

In light of that, it’s no big shock that Tesla plans to introduce an all-electric pickup truck at some point in the future. Elon Musk confirmed as much in late 2017 when the company officially introduced the next-gen Tesla Roadster and the Tesla Semi.

Something spilled chicken parts all over a street in Brooklyn and, oh man, I might vomit

Weird things happen in big cities, and as one of the biggest, New York City is like a petri dish of bizarre happenings. The latest, and perhaps best, example of this comes in the form of a heap of discarded chicken, um, material, which littered a Brooklyn street late last week.

The tale of this chicken apocalypse has two parts. First, Sara Vilkomerson, who works on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, posted a video shot in the Boerum Hill neighborhood showing a street littered with bloody chicken bits. It wasn’t clear how they got there, or when the video was shot, but Jalopnik decided to follow up and check out the scene first hand.

Facebook says it might start hiding like counts in a desperate bid to keep users happy

%name Facebook says it might start hiding like counts in a desperate bid to keep users happy by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The symbol most closely associated with the largest social network in the world, other than that of the app that launches it on mobile devices, is a thumbs-up that designates a “like.” It’s a universally recognized sign of approval for Facebook posts which has been so integral to the service’s experience pretty much since its inception, for both good and ill. As time as gone on, more attention has been paid to the effect that chasing likes and addiction to social media has on peoples’ health, which is why Facebook-owned Instagram has been experimenting with hiding like counts on posts from everyone but the user. The thinking is that there’s no longer any reason to preen and posture for social media approval when no one can see your like counts anyway.

Facebook, meanwhile, is reportedly close to launching a similar test, no doubt chastened by users spending less and less time on the platform and in some cases abandoning it altogether. Could this be the kind of thing that keeps at least some of them around?
