All of the OnePlus 7T’s key specs just leaked along with a launch date

If our calculations are correct based on a huge slip-up earlier this month by one of Apple’s wireless carrier partners, Apple will send invitations to the press today for an iPhone event that will take place on September 10th. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max will then be made available for preorder beginning on September 13th ahead of their release on Friday, September 20th. Nothing is set in stone, of course, but we would be willing to wager quite a bit on all these dates since there’s so much evidence to support them. If there’s one company that likely hopes we’re wrong, however, it’s OnePlus.

Earlier this year, OnePlus released the OnePlus 7 Pro that became the first smartphone in the United States with an all-screen design and a pop-up selfie camera. It’s a sleek and powerful smartphone, and it has reportedly been a top-seller for the China-based smartphone maker. As it has done each year for several years now, OnePlus is rumored to be cooking up a sequel to the phone for a late-summer release. The OnePlus 7T Pro is expected to be an even more powerful version of the 7 Pro with a huge camera upgrade, and it definitely has Android fans buzzing. But if the latest big leak from a reliable source pans out, the timing of OnePlus’ upcoming launch couldn’t possibly be any worse.

I really wish Apple would steal this revolutionary new Android feature for the iPhone 11

%name I really wish Apple would steal this revolutionary new Android feature for the iPhone 11 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Thanks to a slip-up discovered in Apple’s own iOS 13 beta software a few weeks ago, we know that Apple’s next-generation iPhone 11 lineup will be unveiled during a press conference on September 10th. In fact, Apple will almost certainly confirm the news later today by sending invitations to technology reporters and bloggers. During the upcoming iPhone event on the 10th, Apple is expected to confirm all of the big leaks we’ve seen over the past few months. The new iPhone models — which are believed to be called the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max — will feature a design that is quite similar to last year’s iPhone XR and XS phones, as well as 2017’s iPhone X. Just as the company did back in 2016 when the iPhone 7 reused the same design for a third consecutive year, Apple’s new iPhone 11 lineup will offer new cameras and new finishes to compensate for the familiar overall design. The iPhone 11 that replaces Apple’s iPhone XR will sport a new dual-lens rear camera, while the higher-end iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max will feature a triple-lens rear camera that adds a super wide-angle lens into the mix. All three models will sport the new square camera bump we’ve seen so much. You know, the one people have been whining about for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

While the new phones will indeed be a minor update in terms of design, the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro handsets will be a major update where performance is concerned. They’ll also be packed with some nifty new features and capabilities that have never been available before on an iPhone. We’ll need to wait until September 10th to learn about all the nifty new features Apple has in store, but there’s one feature the iPhone 11 series will lack that I really, really wish Apple would steal from next-generation Android flagship phones.

Huawei’s next big flagship phone launches next month, and it might be banned from using Android

%name Huawei’s next big flagship phone launches next month, and it might be banned from using Android by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Huawei’s highly anticipated Mate 30 series will be formally unveiled on September 18 in Munich, though our original expectation that the phones would run Android now seems in danger of not coming to pass.

Both of those facts come from a new Reuters report, which quotes an unnamed source pinpointing September 18 as the date of the Mate 30 unveiling by Huawei, which is now the world’s second-largest smartphone maker. Meanwhile, a Google spokesman dropped this bomb to the new service — the existing US ban on sales to Huawei means the Mate 30 can’t be sold with a licensed version of Google apps and services.

Microsoft says HoloLens 2 will be released next month

%name Microsoft says HoloLens 2 will be released next month by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In a report consisting of a total of just 39 words, Reuters reported late Wednesday evening that Microsoft will release its new HoloLens 2 augmented reality headset sometime in September. Why mention that the report only contains 39 words? Well, apart from the fact that it’s quite strange, it also happens to be something of a terrific metaphor for Microsoft’s HoloLens products. When the first-generation version of the company’s augmented reality glasses debuted, the tech community was abuzz as everyone dreamed of all the possibilities. Then, the buzz quickly faded as the HoloLens mixed reality headset ran into the same problem every augmented reality product runs into: It’s very cool in theory, but not terribly useful right now in practice.

That won’t stop Microsoft from updating its efforts with the new HoloLens 2 headset, and now we know when it’ll finally be available.

Pair of asteroids make early-morning passes of Earth

%name Pair of asteroids make early morning passes of Earth by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you’re reading this, the Earth is intact. That’s good news, since a pair of asteroids made some reasonably close approaches to our planet this morning. The rocks, named 2019 QS and 2019 OU1, both safely sped past Earth on their way around the Sun.

Of the two rocks, QS is the smallest, measuring between 30 and 60 meters in width. OU1 is quite a bit larger, and is estimated to be as large as 170 meters across. Neither object meets the “planet-killer” criteria, but both of them could do a fair amount of damage depending on where an impact took place.

US-China tensions are threatening an undersea internet cable between the two countries

%name US China tensions are threatening an undersea internet cable between the two countries by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In yet another byproduct of continued tensions between the US and China, a national security review is reportedly scrutinizing an undersea internet cable between the US and China that’s supported by both Google and Facebook — potentially leading to the US’ first-ever denial of such a cable over national security.

The 8,000-mile cable would provide faster internet service to both countries. And it’s backed by not only the two US tech giants but also a company called Dr. Peng Telecom & Media Group Co. — the fourth-biggest telecommunications company in China.

%name ‘Batman: Arkham Knight’ and ‘Darksiders III’ are September’s free PS Plus games by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Sony announced that it was eliminating PS3 and PS Vita titles from its monthly selection of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers, I was cautiously optimistic that the quality of the PS4 titles would improve as a result. That optimism has been rewarded this week, as Sony revealed that two great triple-A titles will be free to download next Tuesday: Batman: Arkham Knight and Darksiders III.

These are two of the best action franchises of the last two generations, and if you haven’t played either of them yet, be sure to grab them when they’re available next month. Arkham Knight is a brilliant end to a fantastic trilogy, and while Darksiders III isn’t perfect, it’s good to see that the franchise has survived this long.
