Apple announces sweeping changes to its Siri review process following privacy backlash

Apple got into a bit of hot water earlier this month amidst reports that the company was using contractors to review audio recordings of Siri commands from users. While the goal was simply to improve the efficacy and reliability of Siri, some contractors revealed that they were able to listen in on confidential conversations when Siri was mistakenly called into action.

Compounding matters was the fact that Apple’s Siri review program didn’t even ask users if they wanted to be a part of it. Clearly, this wasn’t a good look for a company that makes privacy a key selling point for its products.

Google Maps is getting smarter and making your commute easier

%name Google Maps is getting smarter and making your commute easier by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Public transit is so prevalent in New York City that I can almost always reach my destination without having to leave the subway. At worst, I have to hop on a bus for the last leg of my journey. But even in NYC, and more often in cities where public transit isn’t quite as ubiquitous, there’s always a chance that the train or the bus or the subway will only get you most of the way there, which is why Google Maps is upgrading its transit directions.

In the coming weeks, Google Maps is going to begin pairing transit directions with biking and ridesharing suggestions to make sure you reach your destination with as little walking as possible. That way, you don’t have to figure out how to proceed once you reach the last stop on your trip with a few miles left to your destination.

One of the most interesting things happening in the entertainment industry right now is the Sony vs. Disney fight over Spider-Man. If you’re somehow unaware of what happened, you should know that Spider-Man 3 is not going to be part of the MCU for the time being, as Sony and Disney failed to ink a new deal. Early video review shows off an unreleased flagship phone like nothing you’ve seen before

%name Early video review shows off an unreleased flagship phone like nothing you’ve seen before by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Samsung spent mountains of cash on catchy anti-Apple marketing to propel it to the top of the smartphone industry. Yet even when it got to the top, the company’s smartphones weren’t actually all that good; it’s amazing what spending tens of billions of dollars on advertising can do. The company’s earliest smartphones were a travesty, but things improved when Samsung began shamelessly copying Apple’s iPhones in every way it possibly could. Even still, Samsung’s lineup of Galaxy flagship phones felt cheap and plasticky until the company eventually relented and began using premium materials in place of flimsy plastic.

Now, in 2019, Samsung makes some of the best flagship smartphones on the planet. The latest examples are the Galaxy Note 10 and Galaxy Note 10+, which features the company’s newest Infinity-O display and its tiny hole-punch camera. While the hole-punch selfie cam is cool, the defining characteristic of Samsung’s Infinity display is still the gorgeous curved edges on either side. They look great, they feel great, and they result in bezels that almost completely disappear. Almost

Behold: This is the first leaked image that shows us what Apple’s iPhone 11 really looks like

%name Behold: This is the first leaked image that shows us what Apple’s iPhone 11 really looks like by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

We’re now exactly two weeks away from the official announcement of Apple’s next-generation iPhone 11 lineup. While the company hasn’t yet sent out any invitations to its upcoming iPhone event, the exact date of the press conference has already been revealed by Apple itself. As it did last year, Apple accidentally spilled the beans earlier this month when it mentioned the launch date in a beta version of its iOS 13 software. According to that leak, Apple plans to announce the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max on Tuesday, September 10th. As if we needed more confirmation than a leak that came directly from Apple, that announcement date aligns perfectly with the release date that was recently exposed by one of Apple’s own carrier partners. According to a SoftBank executive, Apple plans to release its iPhone 11 series handsets on Friday, September 20th. An announcement on the 10th would mean iPhone 11 preorders open on September 13th, and the phones will indeed then be released exactly one week later on September 20th.

As for what we can expect from Apple’s new iPhone 11 series handsets, it seems like nearly everything there is to know has already leaked. We’re sure that Apple will still have a few tricks up its sleeve during its big unveiling, but we already know about many of the new features that will be introduced on the new iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro phones. Huge camera upgrades will be the main focus, which is a page out of Apple’s playbook from 2016, when the iPhone 7 reused the same iPhone design for the third consecutive year. Apple will once again use the same iPhone design for three years in a row, but this time the design is the subject of some confusion.
