Intel a few days ago unveiled the new Comet Lake 10th-gen chips that will power all sorts of notebooks later this year. Siblings of the Ice Lake processors that Intel unveiled earlier this year, Comet Lake chips will bring support for more cores, more RAM of the faster and more efficient variety, as well as faster Wi-Fi 6 support. These chips will power a special set of laptops that Intel certifies under the “Project Athena” program that was announced back at CES 2019. Project Athena machines are supposed to be ultraslim, light devices that feature all-day battery life, always-on internet, and AI support. They also have to deliver increased performance and responsiveness, and that includes the ability to turn on instantly. All this brings us to the ThinkPad X1 Carbon laptop that Lenovo unveiled on Tuesday, it’s first Project Athena laptop.

Huge leak: This may be the first hands on video of the iPhone 11 Pro

%name Huge leak: This may be the first hands on video of the iPhone 11 Pro by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

With just two weeks to go until Apple’s biggest event of the year, iPhone 11 leak season is now in full swing. We’ve seen the slow trickle of leaks from a few months ago really pick up pace in recent weeks, with all sorts of new details spilling out. We’ve seen the basics reported time and time again, but recent leaks have begun to zero in on the specifics. A big report recently revealed several upcoming new features of the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, even uncovering a few of the phones’ exciting new camera capabilities. After all, those massive new square camera bumps certainly aren’t just there for show. Apple’s iPhone 11 series is also said to tout things like improved water resistance, reverse wireless charging like Samsung’s Galaxy S10 and Galaxy Note 10 phones, improved augmented reality features, and plenty more. These new iPhone models might look just like last year’s iPhone XS and iPhone XR, but it looks like they will indeed be fairly huge upgrades over their predecessors.

Of course, reading about the iPhone 11 lineup and all of its next-generation capabilities is one thing, but seeing the phones is another. Renders based on stolen iPhone 11 schematics have been floating around the web for months, and we’ve even seen dummy models a bunch of times that are based on the same design files that were swiped off of a Foxconn server. As we just recently had to explain, however, all of the iPhone 11 images we’ve seen so far are wrong. It might still be a while before actual iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro photos leak, but a new video that was just posted on Tuesday morning supposedly shows Apple’s unreleased iPhone 11 Pro in action for the first time ever.

New Instagram chat app will encourage you to share location and real-time data with ‘close friends’

%name New Instagram chat app will encourage you to share location and real time data with ‘close friends’ by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

After killing Direct, which was supposed to be Instagram’s own messaging system, Facebook is going to unveil a new chat app that will be tied to Instagram accounts, as if the world needed more Facebook messaging apps. However, an Instagram-based chat app can play a more prominent role in Facebook’s ecosystem. Messenger and WhatsApp are already in use by hundreds of millions of people around the world, and Facebook plans to unify them into a single, private chat product. That product, however, should also incorporate Instagram’s messaging app.

The problem with Threads, which is what the app is called, is that it’ll actively encourage users to share more details with close friends, not just messages and status updates. And the list includes sensitive information like location, battery life, and even speed.

%name ‘Breaking Bad’ fans: Aaron Paul says to re watch this scene before the Netflix movie by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

By the time the much-anticipated Breaking Bad movie arrives on Netflix on October 11, it will have been a little more than six years to the day that the incredible AMC series ended back in September 2013.

It’s been so long, in fact, that some fans might even need a refresher before they dive into the new movie, which is called El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie and is set to finally give fans of the series something they’ve been dying for in the years since its conclusion. Namely, a look at what happened to Aaron Paul’s character Jesse Pinkman after he escaped from the gang of neo-Nazis and finally got a chance at freedom and a new life.

Colossal mass of volcanic material is drifting toward the Great Barrier Reef

%name Colossal mass of volcanic material is drifting toward the Great Barrier Reef by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The Great Barrier Reef is in bad shape, and humans are to blame. Warming seas due to climate change have led to extreme “bleaching” of much of the coral that makes up the reef, effectively killing it and turning once-vibrant stretches of the reef into underwater wastelands.

Australia has committed hundreds of millions of dollars to attempt to revive parts of the reef that are, at the moment, essentially dead, but now it looks like Mother Nature might be trying to offer humanity a helping hand. An absolutely massive “raft” of volcanic material spewed from beneath the ocean has been spotted drifting toward Australia, and once it gets there it could help bolster life in and around the reef.

AT&T and FTC settle data-throttling dispute

%name AT&T and FTC settle data throttling dispute by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

AT&T and the Federal Trade Commission have finally reached a settlement as part of a dispute that’s been ongoing since 2014 over an accusation that AT&T throttles the data speed of wireless users on unlimited data plans.

The terms (and value) of the settlement reached aren’t yet clear. And it seems the settlement likewise isn’t final, since both parties asked the US District Court in San Francisco for the FTC to be allowed to review and eventually vote to approve the settlement.
