Spotify remains the biggest music streaming service on the planet, but, at least in the United States, Apple Music is hot on its tail. One of the reasons why Apple was able to grow its market share so quickly was undoubtedly the three-month free trial that Apple opened up to iOS users when the service launched. Conversion rates were subsequently much higher for Apple Music, but Spotify is finally ready to fight fire with fire.

In a news post on Thursday, Spotify announced that it has tripled its free trial to match Apple Music, giving new users 90 days to try out the service before asking them to pay for Premium. You are only eligible if you haven’t signed up for a Spotify Premium trial before, but this is not a limited-time deal. It’s the new normal.

I often wondered what would have happened once Android Z launched on the Pixel 13. Would we ever get there with Android, or would Fuchsia take over with a better naming scheme? It turns out that Google didn’t have the patience to deal with the entire alphabet — no pun intended — and moved to a more user-friendly naming scheme for Android. Either that, or desserts that start with the letter Q just weren’t good enough.

Android Q is no more, starting today, as Google is rebranding its OS to Android 10, which was Android Q’s other name, anyway. We also have a new logo and font to go with the name change.

The air quality in many major cities around the world falls well below acceptable limits, and the death toll is rising. However, a new study shows that even when air quality meets or exceeds established guidelines, it may still be dirty enough to claim lives, suggesting that we’re not doing nearly enough to protect ourselves from, well, ourselves.

The study, which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine, spans three decades and over 650 cities around the world, painting a broad (and frightening) picture of how poor air quality is affecting public health.

NASA’s TESS exoplanet-hunting satellite has already made some incredible discoveries in its first couple of years in service, but its latest find will definitely look familiar to sci-fi fans. The planet LTT 1445 A b is a rocky world approximately 1.4 times as large as Earth. It’s a likely baren rock with incredibly high surface temperatures, but what makes the planet particularly interesting is that its sky is dotted with not one, not two, but three suns.

The planet orbits one star at an incredibly close distance, completing a full orbit in just five Earth days, and that star orbits a pair of stars which are locked in an intimate dance. The trio of stars are all red dwarfs, which are a bit cooler than our own Sun, but that doesn’t mean LTT 1445 A b would be a comfortable place to visit.
