Huawei is widely expected to launch its Mate 30 series this fall, with some rumors saying the press conference may come as soon as September 19th. The phone will run Android right out of the box, and the 90-day reprieve extension that was announced earlier this week seems to confirm that Huawei will have access to Google’s Android long enough to launch both the Mate 30 Pro and Mate X. Once these devices become official, Android updates will continue to drop regardless of whether there’s a ban in place from the US government. In case you were worrying about the possibility of having HarmonyOS run on the Mate 30 Pro flagship at launch, you should know that Huawei doesn’t plan to launch a Harmony phone anytime soon unless the ban really does get enforced.

The PlayStation 5 won’t be announced officially for several months, and we’re more than a year away from the expected release date window for the console. Sony has confirmed the specs of the device on more than one occasion, without revealing its design. However, a Sony design patent discovered in Brazil shows the design of what might be the company’s PS5 console. We’ve shown you Sony’s render for this mysterious device as well as all the evidence that suggests this is indeed the next PlayStation. The ending to HBO’s Game of Thrones eighth and final season certainly divided the series’ passionate fan base like no series has done in recent memory, leading to online meltdowns so epic that a petition for HBO to re-do the whole season with new showrunners is still attracting new signatures. It’s only been a few days since SpaceX boss Elon Musk fired off a tweet reminding everyone that he wants to “nuke Mars,” but he’s already offered a possible alternative to that wild proposal. In a tweet on Tuesday, Musk proposed launching thousands of solar reflectors to the Red Planet in order to heat up the planet’s surface, melt its reserves of ice, and release CO2 that could help form a more robust Martian atmosphere.

Humans are headed to Mars sooner rather than later, but what we’re going to do once we get there remains to be seen. Dreams of establishing a colony on Mars may depend on our ability to make Mars a bit more like Earth, and that would mean beefing up the atmosphere.

NASA’s Mars 2020 mission is inching toward its eventual launch in July of next year, but it’s not the only rover that has an upcoming date with the Red Planet. The ExoMars program, which is a joint venture between the European Space Agency and Russia’s Roscosmos, is expected to launch a new mission at around the same time and will arrive on Mars in March of 2021, shortly after the NASA’s mission lands in February.

The ExoMars rover mission is similar to NASA’s Mars 2020 efforts, but the ESA is emphasizing that one of the rover’s primary goals will be the search for life extraterrestrial life. To that end, the ExoMars bot was just equipped with a high-tech camera that will help it hunt down locations where evidence of past (or even current) life may be hiding.
