Scientists have a pretty good handle on the life cycle of various stars. They know the types of stars that are likely to die in fiery supernova blasts, and they know that not all supernova are created equal. Still, space has many untold secrets, and a new study published in The Astrophysical Journal reveals that scientists had their understanding of supernova thrown into question after observing an explosion so massive that they initially thought their instruments had broken.

The explosion in question, called SN2016iet, was first spotted back in 2016, but it took a further three years for astronomers to truly understand what they were seeing.

Apple this week filed a lawsuit against Corellium, a company that offers users a virtual replica of the iOS user experience from within a web browser. While Corellium touts its service as something of a security tool to better enable researchers to unearth serious vulnerabilities, Apple claims that Corellium’s underlying motive is to illegally profit off of Apple’s intellectual property.

To this point, Apple in its complaint argues that Corellium “encourages its users to sell any discovered information on the open market to the highest bidder.”

Marvel announced its plans for the next phase of the MCU back at Comic-Con. In doing so, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed that we won’t get any Avengers, Guardians, or Spider-Man films in Phase 4. His comments also implied that sequels for Captain Marvel and Black Panther, both confirmed at Comic-Con, would arrive in Phase 5 at the earliest. The same goes for any X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool films.

In other words, Phase 5 might turn out to be even more exciting for the MCU than Phase 4. And that’s especially true if the following rumor is legit, as a new report says a “big” Marvel series is coming to Disney+.

We’ve often entertained the idea of a Star Wars standalone movie or series of films about Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ewan McGregor did say he’d be up for the role. The British actor was the last one to play the iconic Star Wars character, as he was the young version of Obi-Wan in the second trilogy. He also did a voice-over for Star Wars: The Force Awakens a few years ago without appearing in the film. It turns out that we will get a Star Wars spin-off focusing on Obi-Wan, but it’s not going to be an independent movie or new trilogy. Instead, the Obi-Wan adventures are heading to the Disney+ streaming service, with McGregor set to star in it.

Ahead of the anticipated unveiling next month of the Apple Watch Series 5 models, the highly-regarded Apple analyst who’s almost never wrong is out with a new research note disclosing that the iPhone maker will stick with OLED display technology for the upcoming edition of the watch.

When those Series 5 models of the watch get shown off next month in tandem with an unveiling of a trio of new iPhones, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is expecting to see OLED displays supplied by Japan Display, which actually gets more than half its revenue from Apple. That’s according to the new research note from Kuo and TF International Securities shared with Chinese media on Friday (via MacRumors).
