NASA is about to grow fruit in space

NASA has big plans for space travel that include heading to both the Moon and Mars sooner rather than later. If humans begin to travel to other worlds on a regular basis — or even set up shop and live there — we’re going to need food, and that means finding a way to grow fruits and vegetables in otherworldly environments. Now, in what will be a huge first for NASA, the agency has picked a new edible plant to be grown aboard the International Space Station, and it’s a seriously spicy selection.

As the Rio Grande Sun reports, NASA has selected none other than the Española chile pepper to be its next space crop project. While such peppers are often lumped in with vegetables, they’re actually fruits, and this means the chile pepper will be the first fruit ever grown by NASA in space.

While Tesla has a few intriguing vehicles in the pipeline — from the Model Y to a rumored pickup truck — the company’s next-gen Roadster is undoubtedly the most exciting of the bunch. Originally introduced back in late 2017, the second iteration of the Roadster is nothing short of a speed demon with jaw-dropping specs.

Boasting a top speed of 250 MPH, the next iteration of the Roadster will reportedly sport a 0-100 MPH time of 4.2 seconds. The 0-60 MPH time for the entry-level model was initially advertised as 1.9 seconds, though Tesla recently modified that to 2.1 seconds. Raw acceleration aside, the Roadster will boast a mind-boggling range of 620 miles.

NASA’s Mars exploration projects have yielded many surprising discoveries over the years, and we know more about the Red Planet today than we ever have before. However, the day when human astronauts make the trip to Mars will truly be a momentous occasion — and you can bet NASA will be leading the charge — but are we already late? NASA boss Jim Bridenstine thinks so, and said as much in an interview on the CBS program Face The Nation.

In the brief chat, Bridenstine suggests that on a different timeline where politics didn’t come into play, NASA would already have astronauts exploring the Martian surface today.

‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ writers answer all of the movie’s biggest questions

Aside from being a fun superhero romp across continents, Spider-Man: Far From Home also had the unenviable task of following up Avengers: Endgame and attempting to explain everything that happened in that beast of a movie. All in all, it did an admirable job, but writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers left fans with nearly as many questions as answers as they wrapped up Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

And while many of those questions won’t have answers until the next slate of Marvel movies begin to release, the two writers did provide some insight into a few of the movie’s mysteries in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Some of these answers do contain spoilers, so if you haven’t seen Spider-Man: Far From Home yet and plan to do so, you might want to skip this article until you have a chance to get to the theater.

Amazon just announced the best-selling products of Prime Day 2019 day 1 – did you get them all?

%name Amazon just announced the best selling products of Prime Day 2019 day 1 – did you get them all? by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Well, well, well… what have we here? Amazon just announced the best-selling deals of Prime Day 2019 day 1, and if we’re being perfectly honest, they’re pretty surprising! To clarify, not all of Monday’s Prime Day best-sellers are a shock. In fact, three of the four best-sellers are pretty obvious. The Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote dropped to a new all-time low price of just $14.99, which is absolutely nuts for a terrific streaming media device that retails for $40. Equally impressive is Amazon’s Echo Dot deal for Prime Day, which slashes the price from $50 down to a new all-time low of $22.

Next up we have the Instant Pot DUO Plus 60, which was also destined to be a best-seller since Instant Pots are always popular when they’re on sale, and this model just hit a new all-time low of $55.99 today. The United States and Russia may have paved the way to the Moon, but as technology advances, we’re seeing many more countries launching their own lunar exploration missions. India is one of those countries, and its Chandrayaan-2 mission will attempt to land a spacecraft on Earth’s tiny neighbor, but not yet.

The launch was scheduled to take place in the early morning hours of Sunday but was forced to be called off at the last minute due to some technical difficulties. The issue, which is being described as “a technical snag” was detected just an hour before launch, and the delay will be significant.
