The Matrix movie franchise is finally getting a long-awaited fourth installment, Matrix 4, which had been set to open in May of 2021 — though that date may get pushed back because of having to pause filming during the coronavirus pandemic.
The film’s stunt coordinators have given a new interview in which they promise that fans who loved the original trilogy are “gonna love this” too.

Fans of the original Matrix movie trilogy haven’t exactly been keeping their powder dry and adopting a wait-and-see attitude about whether the long-awaited fourth installment in the franchise will be any good. Pre-coronavirus, you only had to open Facebook or Twitter and do a quick search to be met with a flood of breathless posts from users positively giddy over the images and few seconds of hastily-snapped footage they captured on-set, back when Matrix 4 was still shooting in and around San Francisco, which back in February was briefly home to a dystopian-looking movie set that featured everything from explosions and wrecked cars to melted city lamps nearby.

Actor sightings. Scenes filmed amid downtown San Francisco skyscrapers. It was still a few weeks before the coronavirus changed everything, and what a happy time that was.

It’s unclear if any vaccine data was stolen or what vaccine candidates may have been targeted, but authorities are aware of hacker campaigns targeting medical researchers.
Some vaccine candidates may be approved for emergency use as soon as this fall, but it may take years for the world’s population to be inoculated.

The next battlefront in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic is over when and how states around the country will execute reopening plans.
Texas on Friday, for example, began a controversial reopening of many businesses, like malls, movie theaters, and retail stores (albeit at a reduced capacity). This comes as the number of cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus there has continued to rise — which is more or less what’s also still happening around the country, too.

We’re still maybe a year away from the arrival of a vaccine that can successfully fend off the coronavirus. In the most recent note posted to his GatesNotes blog, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates — whose foundation is at the vanguard of the global fight against the coronavirus — writes that he thinks the timeframe for development of a vaccine “could be as little as 9 months or as long as two years.”

Regulators, meanwhile, are still looking for the right drug or combination of drugs that can serve as a treatment for the virus. Which means, among other things, life absolutely will not go back to its pre-coronavirus normal for a while longer. A fact that isn’t stopping states like Texas from barreling toward a reopening of their economies and civic life in a way that some people are rejoicing over — and others worry will lead to a new spike in coronavirus cases.

In one of the opening moments of the new Amazon sci-fi series Upload that debuted on Friday, we see people sitting on a subway who can hold their hands apart to watch a movie on a virtualized screen between them. The year is 2033, and in this place and time of boundless technology advancements, cops pull over speeding cars remotely, with the help of drones hovering outside the driver’s window. Self-driving bicycles allow their owners to hop off once they get home while the bike continues on its journey, and store cashiers are merely giant mechanical arms scanning items, obviating the need for human pleasantries exchanged between customers and store clerks.

And yet, all of those high-tech bells and whistles are just the mere windup for what’s eventually revealed as the big idea at the heart of this high-concept series: It’s the fact that people in this world can choose to either die and be on their way to a real, actual afterlife, or they can instead “upload” their consciousness to a perfect, pristine, albeit digital Great Beyond that’s just the way they’d like it (except for this one being, you know, virtual and not “real”).

Three separate observational studies analyzed the use of certain blood pressure medicine that some coronavirus patients might be taking and concluded that the drugs aren’t risk factors for COVID-19.
The drugs the doctors analyzed are angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and angiotensin-receptor blockers (ARBs), which some people believed might impact the ACE2 protein that the virus binds to.
The findings are relevant because people suffering from hypertension should continue to take their blood pressure regardless of whether they’re infected with the new virus or not.

Hypertension and any other sort of cardiovascular disease are all factors for people who are infected with the novel coronavirus. The older the patients are, the greater the risk of developing potentially life-threatening COVID-19 complications. But researches keep delivering good news that will hopefully improve the outcome of severe coronavirus cases and increase the chances of survival. Earlier this week, we heard that remdesivir will become the standard treatment for COVID-19, as the drug can speed up recovery times. An extensive study found no conclusive proof that the drug can reduce the number of fatalities though, so people might still die of COVID-19 complications. But vaccine research is advancing at lightning speed and a vaccine might be ready for emergency use as soon as this fall. The general population might even get one in January if everything works out, at least in some countries.

Getting back to high blood pressure, a very common condition, researchers from three separate teams have now delivered the same good news. Certain hypertension drugs that may interact with the ACE2 cell receptors that the SARS-CoV-2 virus binds to are not a risk factor for COVID-19 patients. That means physicians can continue to prescribe the much-needed medicines that control high blood pressure to coronavirus patients without worrying it may pose a risk, as had previously been rumored.

A group of thieves stole three Tesla vehicles from a Virginia dealership early Friday morning.
The thieves led police on a short chase before abandoning the cars and fleeing on foot.
Two of the Tesla thieves remain at-large.

According to reports from NBC4 Washington and WTOP News, police tried to stop one car as it attempted to enter an interstate highway. The car quickly crashed as it attempted to avoid police, prompting the thief to flee on foot.
