Taco Bell fans are apparently so addicted to the brand of the Mexican fast food chain, that not only do they patronize its locations on the regular for artery-clogging tacos and nachos. The company also felt that the brand has enough of a following that it decided to open a Taco Bell Hotel this August in Palm Spring, Calif. It will be a very real hotel and resort that’s infused with the brand via everything from a gift shop that sells Taco Bell-themed clothes to Taco Bell-inspired rooms and even a salon that offers Taco Bell-inspired art.

Most improbable of all, reservations for the new hotel opened today. And sold out in just two minutes.

Some ancient crocodiles preferred salad over steak

%name Some ancient crocodiles preferred salad over steak by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Modern crocodiles have a reputation as ravenous beasts that crave flesh. While it’s certainly true that crocodiles today are more than happy to feast on fresh meat, it seems that some ancient crocs not only enjoyed leafy greens on a regular basis, but may have actually preferred a vegetarian diet.

The research, which was published in Current Biology, is based on fossils that survived long after many of the ancient crocodile species became extinct. The study reveals that forks in the crocodile family tree resulted in species that favored plants at least three times in history.

Tesla dashcam video helps prove that a reckless driver lied about causing an accident

%name Tesla dashcam video helps prove that a reckless driver lied about causing an accident by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In something of a wild story, a dashcam on a Model 3 captured an accident involving a reckless driver who later tried to lie to the police about the details surrounding the crash in question. The twist, though, is that the police were only able to deduce that the driver was lying because it was directly at odds with the video captured by Model 3 that happened to be directly behind the crash.

The video itself was originally posted to the Tesla subreddit earlier this week. As evidenced below, a car zooms by a Model 3 and subsequently tries to squeeze in between two cars. The driver can’t quite fit and ultimately sends the car to his right careening off the road.

Facebook wants to let you share your WhatsApp status to Facebook and Instagram

What’s the first thing you can think of when you hear that Facebook is considering allowing WhatsApp users to share their status updates to Facebook, Instagram, and other apps? If you said “Cool,” that’s understandable — it could be a cool feature! If you think it’s creepy, you’re also right, because this sort of functionality across the various services belonging to any tech company, especially one that collects that much data, can indeed be creepy.

What we’re saying is that Facebook may use this little trick to connect various accounts which could give it even more insight into who you are, for ad sales purposes and more.

Everyone’s had a moment or two in their lives where they pull off an incredible feat but can’t explain how they did it. Perhaps it was a near-superhuman catch in a softball game or acing a test without studying. In any case, it’s happened to all of us, and now a group of astrophysicists is having to deal with their own unexplained good fortune in a very public way.

The international team of scientists built a three-dimensional simulation of the universe that is both incredibly fast and remarkably accurate. The only problem? They have no idea why it works as well as it does.

Huawei ban prompts Apple to slightly increase iPhone production

%name Huawei ban prompts Apple to slightly increase iPhone production by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

According to a new research report from Cowen, Apple recently told its manufacturing partners to moderately increase iPhone production on account of the recent Huawei ban ushered in by the Trump administration. The report, which was obtained by AppleInsider, relays that iPhone production for the quarter will likely see a slight bump from 39 million to 40 million units.

Admittedly, this appears to be something of a negligible increase, but given how closely analysts still look to iPhone sales as an indication of the vibrancy of Apple’s business, every little bit helps. What’s more, it’s certainly an improvement from the December quarter when word surfaced that Apple had asked supply partners to trip production amid lower than anticipated demand.

NASA has plenty of projects on its slate at the moment, but that has never stopped the U.S. space agency from looking to the future. Our Sun, which is already a major area of study with missions like the Parker Solar Probe, is about to get even more attention thanks to the approval of two new missions to study various aspects of our star and its relationship with out solar system.

The first mission, called the Polarimeter to Unify the Corona and Heliosphere — or just PUNCH for short — will see four pint-sized satellites shot into orbit to study the solar wind. The solar wind, which is the stream of charged particles flowing out from the Sun, can have a dramatic impact on spacecraft and satellites.

Reuters: Chinese hackers used the cloud to steal trade secrets from enterprise customers

A report a few days ago revealed that hackers linked with China’s government were stealing data from more than a dozen global telecom companies for years.

Cybersecurity company Cyberreason said at the time that a hacking group labeled APT10, associated with the Chinese government, is likely to blame. It turns out the same spying arm has been behind a similarly massive hack, this time targeting cloud services providers in search for doors to their customers. This hack, which may have gone unnoticed for years, had a different purpose: To steal sensitive trade secrets that could help China’s economy.
