The second half of the year will bring us a bunch of exciting high-end smartphones, including the Galaxy Note 10, iPhone 11, Pixel 4, Huawei Mate 30 Pro, and OnePlus 7T. We already have an idea of how some of them will look, especially the first three in the list thanks to a large number of leaks, and it’s unlikely that any of them will deliver the smartphone design we all want. However, that no-compromise screen tech will be unveiled as soon as next week by a smartphone maker from China.

Smartphone vendors aren’t just trying to cram as much battery juice as possible in thinner and thinner phones that get more sophisticated components, but they’re also working on charging tech that would let you replenish the battery faster than ever. The latter might be a better upgrade for smartphone batteries. With faster charging in place, the battery size doesn’t matter as much. And a Chinese smartphone maker you might not be familiar with came up with battery charging speeds that would let you recharge the Galaxy S10+’s 4,100 mAh in just around 13 minutes.

This robot fish has robot blood

If decades of science fiction movies have taught us anything, it’s that when the eventual robot uprising happens, the bots that purge mankind from Earth are going to bleed. Sure, they might spew robo-body-fluid in hues of green or blue, but the dangerous AI-powered robots of the future always seem to have some kind of blood.

Modern robots don’t really have much in the way of blood. A robot powered by some kind of hydraulic system might come close, but let’s be honest, the vast majority of robots today don’t bleed. A team of researchers from Cornell University working in tandem with the University of Pennsylvania thinks they might be able to change that.

Wild video shows a Model 3 owner asleep at the wheel on a California freeway

Tesla’s Autopilot feature certainly helps to remove some of the stress associated with driving, but it’s definitely not designed to allow drivers to completely fall asleep at the wheel. And while Elon Musk envisions a future where drivers will be able to sleep through an entire car ride, the AI technology required for that to become a reality isn’t anywhere close to being ready.

Unfortunately, some Tesla owners have a tendency to use the Autopilot feature in unintended ways, despite some notable safeguards Tesla has implemented in recent years. During the early incarnation of Autopilot, for example, you may recall one Tesla owner actually recorded himself hopping into the backseat while his car was driving along a local road. More recently, we’ve seen a few instances of Tesla owners falling asleep at the wheel, and the video below is perhaps the most harrowing example we’ve seen yet.

Buzz Lightyear and the rest of the Toy Story gang are coming to rescue the summer box office this weekend from what’s been a mediocre few weeks recently for big-screen fare.

Based on the latest estimates, the fourth installment in the beloved animated franchise is being forecast to earn more than $140 million this weekend across 4,500 North American theaters, according to newly published numbers from Variety. If that holds true, it will give Toy Story 4 one of the best openings ever for an animated feature, just behind last year’s Incredibles 2.

Mars has meteors to thank for its wispy clouds

%name Mars has meteors to thank for its wispy clouds by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Mars isn’t exactly known for being a cloudy place. It’s dry, dusty, and barren, but the planet does indeed have a bit of cloud cover. Figuring out why those clouds exist and where they came from has posed a challenge for scientists, but a new study published in Nature Geoscience suggests that clouds on Mars are the result of visitors from elsewhere. Namely, meteors.

The paper reveals that the faint cloud cover hovering in the Martian atmosphere at an altitude of around 18 miles may actually be leftover “meteoric smoke” which was created by space rocks speeding through the planet’s upper atmosphere.

Your next smart speaker might save your life

The typical consumer who owns at least one smart speaker in their home might use it for helpful tasks that make the mundanity of daily life a little easier. They might ask the speaker to turn on the lights, play music or share the weather report. Little conveniences that save a bit of time over the course of the day.

If you’ve been holding off on buying one of these products because you’re not sure how meaningfully it could add to your own life, however — well, researchers at the University of Washington have created an ingenious AI-powered tool that would work with a smart speaker to literally save your life in the event of a cardiac arrest.

The Google-Genius copyright scandal reveals a much bigger problem for the search giant

%name The Google Genius copyright scandal reveals a much bigger problem for the search giant by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

A report earlier this week revealed how Genius, a site filled with song lyrics, was able to catch Google copying its content to display directly on the main Search results page. Google, meanwhile, explained what happened, placing the blame on the lyrics partner that it relies on for those lyrics. However, the seemingly innocuous incident is actually much bigger than a site using a smart Morse code trick to catch Google in the act.

Netflix says that these are the best 2019 TVs for watching Netflix

%name Netflix says that these are the best 2019 TVs for watching Netflix by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The television landscape has changed drastically over the last decade or so, with smart TVs having become the new normal for countless consumers. One of the primary benefits of owning a smart TV is being able to access all of your apps without having to own a secondary device, such as a Roku or a video game console, and Netflix has embraced this by sharing a yearly list of recommended TVs for the best Netflix viewing experience.

Netflix has been doing this for a few years now, and every year, the bar that TVs need to clear to make the list gets a little bit higher. That’s true for this year’s list as well, which required televisions to meet 5 out of 7 criteria. Netflix has divulged all of those criteria here, and some might actually surprise you.

There’s no denying Keanu Reeves is one of the most bankable action movie stars on the planet right now — so in demand that he’s even being sought out for cameos in quirky Netflix rom-coms (Always Be My Maybe) and to voice animated movie characters (Toy Story 4). His John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum premiered to positive reviews a few weeks ago, and all of this has actually started to beg a particular question about his future:

At what point will Marvel Studios finally find a way to bring him into the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
