Accidental cat filter turns press conference live stream into a meme

In something of a ridiculous and yet lighthearted story, a Pakistani politician’s press briefing with journalists recently became comedic fodder after a cat filter was applied to the faces of individuals being recorded via Facebook live. The incident, which was attributed to human error, showcased regional minister Shaukat Yousafzai — and others — with cat ears and whiskers while talking about otherwise serious topics.

The cat filter was live for a few minutes before someone noticed it and promptly removed it. But for a few glorious minutes last Friday, viewers were witness to an event seemingly lifted out of a kids-version of Black Mirror.

If you’ve been craving some fresh, delicious home-baked bread, you might want to hold off for just a little while, or at least double-check the UPC of the flour sitting in your pantry. Hometown Food Company just issued a recall of its Pillsbury brand “Best Bread Flour” over possible E. coli contamination.

The recall includes some 4,620 cases of the flour, with each case holding eight individual bags. Each bag weighs in at five pounds, for a total of 184,800 pounds of potentially contaminated flour. In a new bulletin issued by the FDA, the company explains how to identify the possibly-tainted flour.

Huawei delayed the Mate X, but it just patented another foldable phone

%name Huawei delayed the Mate X, but it just patented another foldable phone by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Huawei, the beleaguered Chinese consumer electronics giant that President Trump put on a US blacklist, just pushed back the launch of its much anticipated Mate X foldable phone from this month to September.

The company said it wants to spend more time putting the device through rigorous testing, one more complication that comes at a time when Huawei is trying to figure out a way forward since the US ban will eventually cut it off from doing business with Google — and, most critically, accessing Google’s Android mobile OS.

‘Pokemon Sword and Shield’ won’t actually allow you catch ’em all

%name ‘Pokemon Sword and Shield’ won’t actually allow you catch ’em all by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield launch for the Nintendo Switch this fall, the number of Pokemon species in all of the games combined will total more than 1,000. That’s eight generations of Pocket Monsters over the past 23 years, but that neverending addition of new creatures does have one negative consequence.

In an interview with Japanese video game magazine Famitsu, Game Freak producer Junichi Masuda revealed that not all of the Pokemon that have appeared in previous games will be found in Sword and Shield. The sheer number of Pokemon in the Pokedex has made it likely that no mainline Pokemon game will ever feature all 1,000+ Pokemon, as it would require too many resources and make balancing them all nearly impossible.

Tesla and NIO fires in China prompt authorities to enact new safety guideline

%name Tesla and NIO fires in China prompt authorities to enact new safety guideline by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Statistically, electric cars are far less likely to catch fire than their gasoline-powered brethren. That said, traditional cars don’t tend to catch fire for seemingly no reason at all, which, for reasons that remain murky, has happened a handful of times to electric cars from the likes of Tesla and NIO in recent memory.

We’ve covered a few spontaneous Tesla fires over the past few months, but NIO, for those not familiar, is a Chinese electric car manufacturer. There are only a few thousand NIO vehicles on the road in China, but there have already been three reports of NIO electric vehicles spontaneously catching fire over the last three months alone. Something peculiar is certainly happening and authorities in China naturally want to get to the bottom of it.

Apple is reportedly financing six original movies a year to compete for Academy Awards

%name Apple is reportedly financing six original movies a year to compete for Academy Awards by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Despite an entire media event being dedicated to its unveiling, Apple TV+ is still something of a mystery. We know the first wave of shows being prepared for Apple’s paid streaming service, and we know that it will launch this fall, but we still don’t have a price, a release date, or a broader vision of what the service will be.

Apple will undoubtedly have answers to all those inquiries in the coming months, but one of its major endeavors may have been spoiled by a New York Post report from this past weekend. Sources have told the Post that Apple wants to finance six original films a year in the hopes of being nominated for and winning Academy Awards.
