The most unusual coronavirus symptom is also the most dangerous

  • The newest observed coronavirus symptom is also the most dangerous one and can appear in patients who don’t even experience other symptoms.
  • Doctors have noticed an increase in strokes caused by blood clots in young adults, who might be reluctant to seek medical help during the coronavirus pandemic.
  • The blockage of arteries in the brain caused by coronavirus clots could be life-threatening if not treated promptly.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Flu-like symptoms can be indicative of infection with the novel coronavirus these days. If you’re experiencing a fever and cough followed by trouble breathing, you might have COVID-19 and you might require medical attention. But not all patients exhibit these symptoms. Some are asymptomatic carriers who might not even know they had the virus until taking a COVID-19 test or an immunity test. Others may experience unusual symptoms like the loss of smell and taste, red eyes, or skin issues that have no other explanations. Cardiac arrest-like symptoms and neurological signs have been observed in other patients who might not have displayed the more usual COVID-19 signs.

It turns out there’s another severe coronavirus symptom that people need to know about, and it might just be the most dangerous of them all. That’s because it’s the kind of medical condition that could lead to severe complications that aren’t related to COVID-19, including sudden strokes that affect the younger population.

Last chance to get 5 great Bose deals, including the rarest Bose sale ever

%name Last chance to get 5 great Bose deals, including the rarest Bose sale ever by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Good deals are harder than ever to come by right now on Amazon since the company shifted focus away from nonessential products, but there are still plenty of gems just waiting to be discovered if you know where to look.
  • This week, Amazon’s best deals include several deep discounts on popular Bose headphones and speakers, like a $50 discount on Bose QuietComfort 35 II ANC Headphones and a sale that matches Amazon’s all-time low price on the first and only Bose true wireless earbuds.
  • There’s also one deal that comes as a huge surprise: The hot new Bose 700 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones that have only gone on sale a handful of times in the past are available right now at the best price ever.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

It’s more difficult than ever to find good deals right now on Amazon’s site. In fact, the retailer’s deals page is now completely hidden and you’ll never find it yourself unless you know where to look. Amazon is still devoting a huge chunk of resources to delivering medical supplies to hospitals and government customers, so most nonessential order deliveries have been pushed back until sometime in mid or even late May.

That said, there are still plenty of hugely popular products that are available to ship out soon. Amazon’s best-selling face masks are back in stock, for example, and Apple’s AirPods and AirPods Pro are good to go as well. But there’s another big sale right now on Amazon that you need to check out, and it covers some of the hottest personal audio products ever made.

Amazon is offering a bunch of great deals on popular Bose speakers and wireless headphones, and we dug through them all to pick out the five best bargains. Some of them are familiar deals that have returned somewhat unexpectedly considering Amazon’s current shift in focus away from nonessential products. Other deals are a bit more surprising, however, such as a deal no one saw coming that offers an extremely rare discount on the hot new Bose 700 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones.

Bose Noise Cancelling Wireless Bluetooth Headphones 700, with Alexa Voice Control, Black: $349.00

Those are Bose’s latest and greatest ANC headphones and they’re by far the best model that Bose has ever made. That said, they’re still a bit pricey even with a discount that matches the all-time low, so there are two other Bose headphones deals you should definitely consider. The wildly popular Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Noise Cancelling Bluetooth Headphones get a $50 discount to $299, and Bose’s first and only true wireless earbuds, the Bose SoundSport Free, get an even bigger discount to an all-time low of $139.

Bose QuietComfort 35 II Wireless Bluetooth Headphones, Noise-Cancelling, with Alexa voice contr…: $299.00

Bose SoundSport Free, True Wireless Earbuds, (Sweatproof Bluetooth Headphones for Workouts and…: $139.00

If you’re looking for speakers instead, there are two Amazon deals in particular that you’ll likely be interested in. The Bose Solo 5 TV Soundbar Sound System everyone loves so much is down to $179 from $250, and the Bose Home Speaker 500 with killer sound quality and hands-free Alexa voice control gets a big $100 discount to $299.

Check out Amazon’s 5 best-selling electronics devices of the week

%name Check out Amazon’s 5 best selling electronics devices of the week by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Amazon’s best-sellers lists are great ways not only to see which devices on Amazon’s site are most popular, but also to find the best deals on Amazon at any given time.
  • That’s particularly important now, since Amazon’s deal page is hidden while the company shifts focus away from nonessential goods.
  • Here, we dig into Amazon’s current best-sellers in the electronics category to see what people are buying for their coronavirus quarantines.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Amazon is the biggest online retailer in the country, so people were obviously taken aback when the company announced a major policy change last month. While it’s only temporary, Amazon said that it would stop restocking many nonessential products in its warehouses and that shipping of many nonessential products would be delayed until at least late April. It’s not ideal considering responsible Americans across the country are doing everything they can to stay home and not go out to buy nonessentials. That said, it’s impossible to fault Amazon for it since the reason for the move is to free up as much capacity as possible for shipping medical supplies to hospitals and local governments.

Despite the temporary halt on many nonessential shipments, there are still plenty of non-medical products that are being restocked and delivered regularly. For example, the most surprising news is that the best-selling face masks on Amazon’s entire site are in stock and ready to ship. Apple’s insanely popular AirPods Pro are also shipping immediately at the lowest price ever, and both AirPods 2 models are discounted and ready to be delivered. AirPods are very popular, of course, but they’re not among the best-selling electronics devices on Amazon right now. Wondering what is? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

5. Echo Dot with Clock

Everyone knows the Echo Dot and everyone loves the Echo Dot, and now there’s a hot new version that adds another great feature to Amazon’s top-selling Alexa smart speaker. As the name suggests, the Echo Dot with Clock is an Echo Dot… with a clock! It’s $60 normally, but right now it’s on sale for $39.99.

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) – Smart speaker with clock and Alexa – Sandstone: $39.99

4. Roku Express HD

The Roku Express HD Streaming Media Player is one of the most affordable streamers out there right now. In fact, this awesome Roku device is cheaper at full retail than most comparable devices are when they go on sale! Just $29 gets you access to all of your favorite content platforms like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, and more, plus hundreds of streaming services you’ve probably never even heard of.

3. Fire TV Stick 4K

The Fire TV Stick 4K is always among the most popular gadgets on Amazon, and this week’s sales have been especially high for a week when there’s no straight discount. That said, there are two great unadvertised deals you’ll definitely want to know about. Some lucky customers will be able to score one right now for just $24.99 with the coupon code 4KFIRETV (find out more details here). If that doesn’t work, anyone can get a free $20 Amazon credit when they purchase and activate two Fire TV Stick 4K streaming media players.

Fire TV Stick 4K streaming device with Alexa built in, Dolby Vision, includes Alexa Voice Remot…: $24.99 (use code 4KFIRETV)

Fire TV Stick 4K streaming device with Alexa built in, Dolby Vision, includes Alexa Voice Remot…: Buy two, get a $20 Amazon credit

2. Echo Dot

The $50 Echo Dot is one of Amazon’s best-selling devices of all time, and a big part of the reason why is because it often goes on sale for even less than $50. Grab one today and you’ll pay $29.99 for Amazon’s most popular Alexa speaker, or you can buy two and use the coupon code DOT2PACK at checkout to snag them for only $24.99 each.

Echo Dot (3rd Gen) – Smart speaker with Alexa – Plum: $24.99 – $29.99 (use code DOT2PACK)

1. Fire TV Stick

The Fire TV Stick might be a bit pricier than the Roku Express HD despite havind the same main features, but the dongle form factor warrants the added expense for many people. It’s this week’s #1 best-selling electronics product on Amazon, and it’s in stock right now and ready to be delivered in under a week.

Netflix movies list, May 2020: All 57 new movies coming to Netflix

%name Netflix movies list, May 2020: All 57 new movies coming to Netflix by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Netflix has announced its full slate of new releases for the month of May 2020, and it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest months of the year so far for the popular streaming content provider.
  • We already gave you the complete rundown of Netflix original movies and TV shows set to premiere over the course of the month in May.
  • Now, it’s time to take a look at all the new original movies and third-party licensed movies that will be coming to Netflix’s content catalog beginning next week.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Earlier this week, Netflix announced all of its new releases for the month of May and we went right to work. Our readers are always most interested in original Netflix content, so we stripped out all the fluff and gave you the complete schedule of Netflix original movie and series releases for May 2020. And when it comes to Netflix original shows, movies, and specials, May 2020 is packed full of hotly anticipated releases from start to finish.

Highlights include the interactive special Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy Vs. the Reverend, Magic For Humans season 3, a new stand-up special from Patton Oswalt and another stand-up special from none other than Jerry Seinfeld, and of course the premiere of Space Force season 1 at the end of the month. Created by Greg Daniels (The Office, Parks and Recreation) the show is inspired by Trump’s ridiculous space warfare branch of the military and it stars Steve Carell.

Now that we know about all the new Netflix original content set to debut next month, it’s time to shift focus to movies. Throughout the month of May, a whopping 57 different original and third-party movies will be added to Netflix’s ever-expanding catalog. There are definitely plenty of popular titles coming next month including Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, the first two Back to the Future movies, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fun with Dick & Jane, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Patriot, District 9, The Lincoln Lawyer, and more. Then, toward the end of the month on May 25th, we’ll get what is likely the most eagerly awaited movie of the month that’s coming to Netflix: Uncut Gems, which many people believe was robbed at this year’s Oscars.

Wondering what else is in store for Netflix subscribers next month? You’ll find the full schedule of May 2020 movie releases down below.

DIY coronavirus face masks you can make in just a few minutes

%name DIY coronavirus face masks you can make in just a few minutes by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Medical-grade face masks that block the transmission of viruses like the novel coronavirus are still extremely difficult to come by, and you probably shouldn’t buy one even if you can because healthcare professionals have a much greater need.
  • What you might not realize, however, is that it’s very easy to make your own mask out of a few simple supplies you can get right now from Amazon and things that are already lying around your house.
  • These masks are so simple to make that you don’t even need to sew, so just about anyone can make them with ease.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

We have probably said this about a hundred times by now, but we’re going to say it again: don’t buy medical-grade face masks. N95 respirator masks are in very short supply and if you do happen to find some available for purchase, you should leave them for healthcare professionals and first responders. They need these masks much more than you do.

If you happen to come across KN95 masks at a good price, sure, you can go ahead and buy those. They’re the Chinese version of N95 masks and while they’re believed to work just as well, they’re not certified for use by healthcare professionals so you’re not putting anyone at risk by buying them. You can also pick up Amazon’s best-selling face masks that are somehow back in stock right now, though likely not for much longer. These aren’t surgical-grade, but they’ll definitely do the trick as long as you practice social distancing and good hygiene.

That said, there’s actually a very simple way to can make masks yourself that are more than effective enough — IF YOU’RE SMART — and you can make dozens of them with a few simple supplies. We say “if you’re smart” because no, DIY masks obviously aren’t going to be as effective as N95 or KN95 masks. But if you practice good hygiene and use social distancing, these masks will do a great job of adding an extra layer of protection against aerosolized coronavirus.

We came across a great little video that shows how to make a DIY face mask that is much better than most basic masks you’ve seen plans for online. It’s not complicated at all, and you don’t even need to sew or use any hard-to-get supplies. Most of what you need to make these masks is probably already lying around your house, and the only supplies you won’t already have just came back in stock at Amazon. First, you’ll need a MERV 13 Pleated Air Filter. If the one linked here is sold out, use this search and get any well-reviewed air filer with a MERV 13 rating (nothing lower). You also need some Carbon Pad Charcoal Sheets for Air Filters.

Here’s the full list of supplies and materials you’ll need:

That’s it! It’s a very simple little DIY face mask tutorial that can go a long way to help protect you and your loved ones. You’ll find the video embedded below.

Apple’s iPhone 12 pricing might’ve just been revealed by an insider

%name Apple’s iPhone 12 pricing might’ve just been revealed by an insider by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • Apple is widely expected to launch four iPhone 12 models this year, all featuring all-screen designs, OLED panels, and 5G connectivity.
  • The cheapest iPhone 12 might feature a 5.4-inch screen and cost between $600 and $700, according to an analyst.
  • Such a price might make the entry-level iPhone 12 even more affordable than the base iPhone 11.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Starting at $699, the iPhone 11 has been a tremendous success for Apple, especially when compared to some of its rivals, including the Pixel 4 and newly released Galaxy S20 series. The iPhone 11 has consistently sold better than any other phone since its introduction in September, and it’s the best new iPhone to buy for many people. This year, Apple is expected to launch no less than four distinct iPhone 12 models, all featuring all-screen displays and 5G support. And the most affordable iPhone 12 might be even cheaper than the base iPhone 11, a new report says.

  • Apple says a newly found set of vulnerabilities that affect the Mail app on iPhone and iPad were not used by attackers.
  • The company who discovered the security issues said it had evidence of attackers exploiting the flaws on unspecified targets.
  • A fix for the Mail app will be available soon to all iPhone and iPad users, as Apple has already patched the vulnerabilities.

Reports earlier this week said cybersecurity company ZecOps discovered two zero-day security exploits that can affect the default Mail preloaded on iPhone and iPad. One of the flaws would allow remote code execution, while the other could infect the iOS device by sending emails to an iPhone or iPad users. An attacker would be able to combine these attacks to access a user’s emails. Reports also said that Apple had patched the vulnerabilities in the latest iOS 13.4.5 beta version, and the fixes would be rolled out to all users in the coming weeks.

While ZecOps recommends the use of a third-party app like Gmail until the update arrives, and claims that the vulnerabilities have been used on actual targets, Apple says it found no evidence that the iPhone Mail flaws were exploited.

Massive, ancient galaxies have been swallowing their neighbors for billions of years

  • Astronomers discovered that old, massive galaxies tend to be messy and disorderly, and set out to explain why.
  • Computer simulations revealed that large ancient galaxies have likely been swallowing up their smaller neighbors for billions of years.
  • This case of “cosmic munchies” results in unpredictable movement and a messy appearance.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

Thanks to high-powered telescopes, astronomers can peer into space and see distant galaxies of all shapes and sizes. Over the years, observations of many different galaxies have revealed some interesting trends, and explaining why those trends exist can teach us a lot about how our universe has evolved over billions of years.

In a new paper published in The Astrophysical Journal, researchers tackle an issue they often see in particularly large, old galaxies. Massive ancient galaxies have a habit of looking a bit messy from afar. Movement within them tends to be unpredictable. The researchers now believe they have an explanation.

Most Americans say they already need stimulus check #2

%name Most Americans say they already need stimulus check #2 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley
  • The IRS has only recently begun sending out long-awaited stimulus direct deposit payments to Americans as part of the economic package Congress passed in March in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • While everyone is keeping an eye on the IRS’ stimulus check status tracker, however, it’s starting to become clear that the money everyone is waiting on now may not even be enough. In fact, most Americans say they’re having such a tough time that they already need a second round of stimulus checks.
  • Visit BGR’s homepage for more stories.

When Congress passed and President Trump subsequently signed into law the $2.2 stimulus legislation at the end of March that was meant to blunt some of the economic pain stemming from the coronavirus pandemic — and which provides for direct payments to most Americans, among other things — official Washington patted itself on the back for a job well done. They had moved fast and in dramatic fashion to get money out the door and into the hands of people who need it most, and who need it right now.

Only, things aren’t exactly working out that way. Not completely. If you haven’t gotten your stimulus payment from the IRS yet, perhaps because you’re waiting on a paper check to come in the mail as opposed to people who’ve already received theirs electronically via direct deposit — there’s some bad news. Check out this timeline from the Ways and Means Committee in the US House of Representatives: It says that paper checks started to be put into the mail this week, and they’ll be issued at the rate of about 5 million a week, which could end up taking about 20 weeks to get all of them sent out. Meaning, if you’re one of the unlucky ones near the back of the back, you might not get your paper stimulus check until September. And so, because of that delay, as well as the fact that many Americans don’t even think the checks themselves represent a big enough chunk of change (up to $1,200 for individuals, and $2,400 for married couples), many Americans now say they could probably go ahead and do with a second stimulus check at this point.
