Massive leak gives us a full video review of Google’s unreleased Pixel 3 lite

When the Pixel 3 launched in October, it was hardly a secret. We knew everything about it, and I do mean everything. An ongoing series of leaks, including actual reviews of the phone, and multiple hands-on videos, revealed all of the Pixel 3’s secrets. Google tried to drum up some excitement before its press conference last fall, seemingly suggesting that the rumors did not tell the whole story, but that was all in vain. Fast forward to mid-January, and we have the first hands-on video review of the cheap Pixel 3 phone that Google is expected to launch in the near future.

How to see if your email was stolen in the massive breach that exposed 773 million accounts

%name How to see if your email was stolen in the massive breach that exposed 773 million accounts by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Remember how optimistic we all were that 2019 would be a better year than 2018? Well, so much for that idea. We’re barely three weeks into the new year and it looks like we’ve already been subjected to one of the biggest data leaks on record. Security researcher Troy Hunt reports that he was alerted to massive collection of suspicious files on the file hosting site MEGA. There were apparently about 12,000 different files, which Hunt says have since been removed from the site but are still being circulated on an unnamed hacker forum. What was found in that massive cache of 87GB files? According to the researcher, it contained no less than 2.7 billion records. Once Hunt ran it through some filters and cleaned everything up, he found a whopping 773 million unique email accounts and more than 21 million different passwords.

Hunt is calling this massive email leak “Collection #1,” and its origins are unclear for the time being. Considering the name Collection #1 that the data was given, it’s possible that the email accounts have been collected from a number of different hacks. What is clear is that hundreds of millions of people are potentially exposed, so we’re going to show you exactly how to find out if you are among them.

T-Mobile CEO’s Twitter war with Trump ended the moment the Sprint merger was announced

%name T Mobile CEO’s Twitter war with Trump ended the moment the Sprint merger was announced by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Back when he and a not-yet-president Donald Trump were feuding on Twitter, T-Mobile CEO John Legere very publicly bashed the quality of Trump’s hotel in New York City. It was a Twitter spat in which both men were taking shots at each other’s businesses, with Trump carping in a tweet about the quality of T-Mobile’s service. Legere shot back with a tweet promising to immediately check out of Trump’s property and gushed: “Now I don’t have to watch tv with the 1st 9 channels being the Trump family saying how wonderful they are :)”

He followed that up with a tweet that has since been deleted, in which the CEO continued: “I am so happy to wake up in a hotel where every single item isn’t labeled ‘Trump’ and all the books and TV is about him.”

With the Galaxy S10 about one month away, we thought we knew everything there was to know about Samsung’s next flagship. But a brand new leak has us worried. If it’s accurate, then it might be a reason to avoid the Galaxy S10.

It took me about a minute to ruin my iPhone X, and all I had to do was to place the phone in a protective case and slap a screen protector on it. That’s because the handset packs a glass sandwich design that’s susceptible to both front and rear damage after accidental drops. More than a year later, I still have protective gear around the device.

Google may ditch bezels and go with an all-screen display for the Pixel 4

Google is apparently the latest company that wants to move away from a notched display design for its smartphones, with a newly spotted patent offering fresh insight into what we’re likely to see in a Pixel 4 handset.

We were already hearing that Google’s next flagship smartphone would actually include a more affordable variant. Supposedly, Google will launch two Verizon-exclusive smartphones this spring — the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite. These would be the first mid-range phones the company has released in the US since the $379 Nexus 5X back in 2015. Meanwhile, we have fresh details on the design direction Google apparently wants to go next, with 91mobiles having spotted a patent the company has been granted for an all-screen phone sporting an edge-to-edge display.

Video shows us what to expect from hole-punch displays on 2019 smartphones

%name Video shows us what to expect from hole punch displays on 2019 smartphones by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If 2018 was the year of the notch, 2019 will be the year that smartphone makers around the world find ways to ditch the notch (or, at the very least, shrink it). One of many ways that companies will try to eliminate bezels without cutting out a chunk at the top of the display is by instead carving a small hole into the corner of the screen, which will likely be the method of choice for Samsung with its Infinity-O display for the Galaxy S10 line.

But with over a month to go until the Galaxy S10 makes its debut at Samsung’s Unpacked 2019, YouTuber Marques Brownlee got his hands on the next best thing: Huawei’s Honor View 20. It might not be the most exciting phone on the market, but it’s one of the first to feature the so-called “hole-punch display.”

Android Q leaks early, features system-wide dark mode and more

%name Android Q leaks early, features system wide dark mode and more by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Google might never solve its Android fragmentation problem, but that’s not going to stop the company from churning out new software every year. To that point, despite the fact that Android 9.0 Pie has yet to even appear on the Android distribution dashboard (which tracks how many Android users are on any given version of the software), an early build of 2019’s Android Q has leaked, giving us a sneak peek at some of the upcoming features.

On Wednesday, XDA Developers managed to get a leaked Android Q build on a Pixel 3 XL, and while it isn’t anything like the Android Q Developer Preview that Google will roll out in March, it is helpful for confirming which new features and fixes Google plans to implement in the next public version of the Android operating system.
