Netflix increased the prices of all three of its US plans on Tuesday, some by as much as 18%, which makes this the most substantial price jump since the streaming service debuted in 2007.

As reported by CNBC on Tuesday morning, the standard plan — which offers HD video and allows users to watch from up to two devices at once — will be subjected to the largest price hike, percentage-wise, as it climbs from $10.99 a month to $12.99 a month. As CNBC points out, that’s still cheaper than HBO NOW, which costs $14.99 a month, but upping the price of its most popular plan will certainly have plenty of subscribers up in arms.

The mysterious new phone that’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before just got a launch date

%name The mysterious new phone that’s like nothing we’ve ever seen before just got a launch date by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple and Samsung both ran into big problems last year with their smartphone businesses. Long story short, iPhone and Galaxy phone sales plummeted in the holiday quarter. They can blame troubles in China all they want, but the bottom line is that both of these industry leaders phoned it in last year, no pun intended. Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note phones couldn’t have been anymore boring in 2018, and the same can be said of Apple’s iPhone lineup. Both companies chose to reuse old designs and release next-gen smartphones that looked exactly like their predecessors. That strategy is less of in issue when the new models offer novel marquee features to get shoppers excited, but that was the problem in 2018. Whether you bought an iPhone XS, Galaxy S9, iPhone XS Max, Galaxy S9+, iPhone XR, or Galaxy Note 9, there were no exciting new features to be found anywhere if you were upgrading from a 2017 flagship smartphone model. That means a huge portion of loyal fans who typically upgrade every year decided to skip their upgrades in 2018.

Of course, 2019 is where things will get interesting. Samsung has a number of exciting new smartphones set to debut this year, including the completely redesigned Galaxy S10 series phones and a new foldable smartphone that may launch as the Galaxy Fold. Apple, on the other hand, is reportedly using the same smartphone design for a third consecutive year, which could be a disastrous move. Only time will tell. 2019 is shaping up to be a wild ride for smartphone fans, but it turns out that one of the most exciting new phones of the year might not be an iPhone or a Galaxy phone. It’s a mysterious new phone from a vendor most people in the US have never even heard of, and now it has a launch date that’s much sooner than we expected.

When Sony and Marvel debuted the first trailer for Spider-Man: Far From Home at Comic Con Experience in Brazil last month, we expected to see it online shortly after. But hours passed, and then days, and there was no sign of the trailer. It’s now been over a month since the CCXP crowd was shown footage of the Spider-Man sequel, and Marvel had yet to even hint at a wider release… until Tom Holland started tweeting this week.

It all started when someone posted a video demanding the trailer for the live-action Spider-Man sequel on Twitter, to which Holland replied that he’d see what he could do. Less than 24 hours later, he tweeted the following: “So I spoke to Sony…” We waited all day hoping a trailer would drop, but as the hours passed, it was clear no trailer was coming. But then, late last night, Holland said on Instagram that he would be going live at 5:45 AM PST.

New rumor claims Apple might do the unthinkable with the iPhone 11

%name New rumor claims Apple might do the unthinkable with the iPhone 11 by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

When Apple introduced the Lightning connector in 2012, the reaction was somewhat mixed. Sure, the Lightning connector offered a range of functional improvements over the 30-pin dock connector, but some folks simply couldn’t come to grips with the fact that the new technology essentially rendered many of their existing iOS accessories useless.

A few years later, the 30-pin dock connector now nothing more than a distant memory, just another example of a legacy technology Apple mercifully abandoned in favor of a superior replacement. Of course Apple replaced it with a special Lightning connector that would allow the company to separate its iOS devices from all rival products and maintain its MFi accessory certification program. Surprising though it may be, however, a new report claims that Apple is on the verge of ditching its proprietary Lightning connector on the iPhone in favor on an industry standard, which is something many people thought would never happen.

Samsung next month is expected to unveil two new smartphone flagships, including the Galaxy S10 that dominates mobile rumors right now, and the Galaxy F, its first foldable handset. The latter already got a soft launch back in November, but Samsung only really showed the phone’s Infinity Flex screen, as well as the new One UI user interface that will power all Samsung mobile experiences, Galaxy F included. And, according to a new report, Samsung is looking to make the most of the foldable phone experience it’s about to introduce, a form factor not many other handset vectors will have in stores this year.

When Apple lowered its revenue guidance for the Christmas quarter a couple of weeks ago, Tim Cook explained Apple’s rare miss in a letter, providing several interesting details about the company’s financial performance for the period. iPhone sales weren’t as strong as Apple would have hoped, thanks to several reasons. Among them, Cook highlighted the affordable iPhone battery replacement program that Apple offered buyers last year, in response to the iPhone throttling issue that came to light in late 2017. Now we have an idea of how many batteries Apple replaced last year thanks to an insider. Eleven million iPhone batteries were replaced in 2018, compared to the anticipated 1-2 million.

Jake is a beloved member of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office in Florida, where he regularly walks his beat sniffing for drugs. It’s the perfect job for a 3-year-old golden retriever, though a few days ago, “Jake” actually had a too-close brush with the effects of the narcotics he’s screening for.
