Chinese company Jide Tech is one such Android device maker that’s imagining Android as a Windows-like platform that could deliver PC-like functionality to end users. Oh, quite a journey we have had so far in just a few short months. Even though the Apple Watch was released on April 24th, the device was first announced practically a year earlier, and rumors had been swirling forever that Apple was entering the wearable market.
I feel like this watch had the potential to be the absolute perfect product for me. Mechanical watches have been an obsession for me as long as I can remember, and I had dreamed about owning a skeletonized Royal Oak since I was probably 14. I’ve collected many watches, from novelty to high-end Swiss ones, and the thought of having a modern-day watch that worked seamlessly with my iPhone had me ready to completely just go bonkers.

When Gabriel Weinberg, founder of the privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo, first started working on the concept for it almost a decade ago now, he didn’t set out at first to build a company around it – or even a serious product that millions of people would eventually use.
Named after the childhood game of Duck Duck Goose, the search engine that in recent days announced it’s surpassed 10 million searches a day for the first time (around 115 searches a second) actually began with Weinberg deciding he wanted a better experience for himself while using a certain Mountain View-based tech giant’s search product.
