The promising and shockingly strong material has so far been used only in small iPhone components, but now it has finally made its way to a smartphone housing. Unfortunately for Apple fans, there’s still no sign of a Liquidmetal iPhone. Instead, an Android handset called the Turing Phone is set to become the first ever smartphone to sport a Liquidmetal case when it launches in the coming weeks.

The brainchild of researcher Ben Caudill, the device, dubbed ProxyHam, was scheduled to be officially introduced at Def Con in Las Vegas early next month.

But then something funny happened.

Caudill’s talk was abruptly cancelled under extremely mysterious circumstances over the weekend.

It’s always neat to look at pictures of Earth from space but Japan’s Himawari-8 weather satellite has just outdone every beautiful set of Earth photos we’ve ever seen. The New York Times brings us word that the satellite is now snapping a picture of Earth every 10 minutes and the publication has used them to create a stunning timelapse of the planet over a 24-hour period.

A more Comcastic pricing scheme we could not imagine.

Given that ESPN has long been the most profitable cable channel, this data point is certainly eyebrow raising.
