Everything we know about evolution tells us that humans have primate ancestors, and that the development of our complex brains is what allowed ancient humans to forge the path that we’re on today. Determining what changes in primate brains prompted our fork of the evolution tree to take shape is something scientists in China are tackling in a revolutionary — and scary — way.

A new study led by researchers at the Kunming Institute of Zoology combined human brain genes with modern macaque monkeys, creating transgenic specimens that demonstrate more advanced problem-solving skills than their unmodified brethren. Facebook is certainly dealing with its fair share of privacy snafus at the moment, a number that’s swelled considerably over the past 12 months or so. But its latest headache sounds almost too weird to be true.

Oculus cofounder Nate Mitchell, whose company is of course owned by Facebook, acknowledged on Twitter Friday that weird secret messages were “accidentally” hidden in “tens of thousands” of the virtual reality controllers. Messages like: “Big Brother is Watching” and “This Space for Rent.”

By the time the Avengers: Endgame credits roll, our favorite Marvel superheroes will have beaten Thanos and prevented the snap. After many delays, SpaceX was finally able to launch its Falcon Heavy rocket this week, for just the second time ever. The company also made history by successfully recovering both of its side boosters and the central core booster, which it had never done before.

Believe it or not, the trio of boosters aren’t the only things that SpaceX managed to recover. SpaceX boss Elon Musk revealed on Twitter that both halves of the spacecraft’s nosecone were also picked up, and they’re going to send them back into space sooner rather than later.

This has been a jam-packed week of news for Disney and its myriad brands and franchises, with Thursday featuring a ton of long-awaited detail about Disney+, Friday giving us exciting news about the next installment in the Star Wars movie franchise — and let’s not forget about Hulu. The latter is also a critical piece of Disney’s direct-to-consumer streaming ambitions, with a company official saying from the stage at its investor day presentation in Burbank Thursday that Disney would “likely” offer a bundled subscription package that includes Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+.

Hulu has a slate of original content that’s continuing to grow, a slate that keeps getting beefed up thanks to series like the eight-episode Veronica Mars revival that we just learned is coming on July 26.
