Without question, Apple’s launch of the App Store back in 2008 forever changed the way we interact with our phones. The proposition that the App Store offered at the time was incredibly compelling insofar that developers were given access to the entirety of Apple’s iOS user base in exchange for a 30% cut of all revenue earned.

Since then, Apple has doled out more than $120 billion to developers while earning a pretty penny for itself in the process. The mobile landscape in 2019, however, is a lot different than it was back in 2008. These days, developers aren’t as keen on giving Apple a 30% cut off the top and some companies are speaking out about it. What’s more, some companies are not too thrilled with the way Apple manages the App Store in general.

Apple is working on MacBooks with ARM processors, several recent leaks have claimed, although we’ve yet to see anything official from the company. What’s clear, though, is that the most recent iPhone and iPad chips deliver benchmark scores that are far superior to traditional laptops.

Apple already released an iPad Pro faster than most laptops, so it makes perfect sense for Apple to build versions of the same chips for its MacBooks. While we still don’t know when such devices will be ready for mass consumption, the first purported benchmarks for these macOS machines have emerged, teasing monster performance.

Former HBO chief executive Richard Plepler made headlines with a recent Variety interview, in which he raved about the feature film quality of the upcoming final season of Game of Thrones. The season’s six episodes felt more like “six movies” than they did a set of TV episodes, he insisted, which many people took to be a reference to their length. “They knew the bar was high. They’ve exceeded the bar,” Plepler told Variety about the team behind the show.

As of today, we now have the official word straight from HBO itself to underscore what its former chief was talking about. The network has confirmed the runtimes and air dates of all six of the much-anticipated season’s episodes, the start of which is now less than a month away.
