Motorola unveils three new Moto G7 phones, including one with 2-day battery life

It has been quite some time since an unreleased Motorola flagship phone really generated a significant amount of buzz. Perhaps it was back in 2013 when the made-to-order Moto X first debuted. But even then, the phone was barely a blip on the radar compared to flagship devices from the likes of Apple and Samsung. Even smaller companies like OnePlus have managed to stir up some solid interest in their flagship phones in recent years. Meanwhile, Motorola has been relegated to a brand known for its mid-range handsets that offer good performance and decent features at affordable prices. The company’s marquee phones like the Motorola One and the Moto Z line aren’t even an afterthought in key markets. In fact, there’s a good chance that many people reading this right now have never even heard of the Motorola One, which was just released three months ago.

That’s why rumors that Motorola is working on another RAZR revival were so intriguing. Yes, Motorola has tried to revive the RAZR before, but things are different this time around. Why? Because the rumored new RAZR phone won’t be just another Android phone. It’ll supposedly be a flip phone like the original RAZR that remains one of the best-selling cell phones of all time, but with a new foldable OLED screen like the ones we’ll soon see in next-gen phones from Samsung and Huawei.

Well, we have some good news and some bad news for you this morning. The good news is that our own inside sources have told us that Motorola is indeed toying with the idea of releasing a foldable RAZR revival. But the bad news is that today’s announcement from Motorola has nothing to do with the RAZR, which some people thought might be teased this month. Instead, Motorola is updating the only smartphone line that has really been working well for it in recent years, with the unveiling of three brand new Moto G7 smartphones: The Moto G7, Moto G7 Play, and Moto G7 Power.

Popular iPhone apps caught recording your screen without permission – here are the offenders

%name Popular iPhone apps caught recording your screen without permission – here are the offenders by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In an effort to better understand how their customers interact with mobile apps, certain companies employed a third-party analytics data that can record everything you do while inside an application, including every single tap, swipe and text input. All that happens without explicit consent from the user, who has no idea that screenshots from the app may reach a third-party server, sometimes including sensitive personal data such as credit card numbers, passwords, and contact details.

LG will unveil its newest Android flagship later this month during a press conference in Barcelona, Spain, but the company already announced one of the phone’s new features before of the Mobile World Congress. We’ve seen LG announcing certain phone features ahead of the actual press event for a phone, so this isn’t surprising. But LG did confirm the name of the next Android smartphone while revealing the device will match the iPhone XS’ most sophisticated feature.

Scientists discover that flying squirrels glow bright pink under UV light

%name Scientists discover that flying squirrels glow bright pink under UV light by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

If you’ve ever seen a flying squirrel in the wild you know that they’re neat little critters. They’re not particularly bothersome, and aside from mastering the age-old art of raiding bird feeders they’re rather pleasant creatures. Pleasant creatures that, as it turns out, glow bright pink when hit with ultraviolet light.

In an incredibly interesting study that was born out of mere happenstance, researchers in Wisconsin discovered that the furry little fliers are imbued something that makes them glow, but they’re not entirely certain what it is.

Google is killing off the web notifications widget it launched with Google+

That little bell you see in the upper right hand corner of Google web pages — and which you probably haven’t clicked in a while — is going away soon, another little bit of fallout from Google’s decision to kill off the consumer version of its failed social network Google+.

Time was, that bell opened up a notification widget that was meant to nudge you into using Google’s failed Facebook rival more. It lit up whenever you had messages or other activity on the service, for example, and eventually became a notification service for other Google properties like the very useful Google Photos. Whenever the photo service, for example, automatically makes a collage or there’s any other activity there, the bell still turns red to let you know.

NASA lost contact with two mini Mars spacecraft and they don’t know exactly why

%name NASA lost contact with two mini Mars spacecraft and they don’t know exactly why by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

NASA’s Mars InSight mission is moving along nicely, with the robotic lander preparing for many months of research that will tell scientists more about the interior of the planet than ever. Unfortunately, two of the machines that helped NASA track InSight’s perfect landing now refuse to answer calls from the space agency, and nobody knows exactly why.

The success of the MarCO mini satellites — named WALL-E and EVE in honor of the futuristic Pixar flick (which isn’t as good as A Bug’s Life) — was a long shot for NASA from the start. The tiny CubeSat spacecraft were designed to track InSight’s position so that NASA could keep a close eye on its progress as it made its way to the surface. They performed better than anyone could have expected, but we may never hear from them again.

Every free NES game added to Nintendo Switch Online in February 2019

In a disappointing turn of events, Nintendo added just two games to its collection of free NES titles for Switch Online subscribers in January. Every month following the launch of the subscription service last year, Nintendo added three games (along with a few surprises), so we hoped the pace would pick up once again when February rolled around. Sadly, that was not the case, as only two games are scheduled to be added this month.

On Tuesday evening, Nintendo announced that Kirby’s Adventure and Super Mario Bros. 2 would be the next games added to the Nintendo Entertainment System – Nintendo Switch Online collection on February 13th. There will likely be another surprise or two as well (like another couple of SP titles), but only two new games.

Google tells Nest camera owners to reset their terrible, weak passwords

A few days after an Illinois family told local news outlets about getting a scare after they heard racial slurs and curse words taunting them through their Nest security camera, Google has sent out an arguably vague email to Nest camera owners that alludes to incidents like that one without mentioning any details.

And the company also recommends steps that users can take to better protect themselves, one of which is Google trying to diplomatically tell users that the passwords they regularly choose are so bad that it makes their devices tempting targets for hackers — so, you know, reset your password to something better, post haste.

It’s hard to believe it’s already been a year, but exactly 12 months ago today was the first launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy. The rocket launch was a huge success and while SpaceX hasn’t launched Heavy again in the time since, it was still a very big deal for the company.

Falcon Heavy, which has since been usurped by new SpaceX projects including Starship and Super Heavy, flew skyward one year ago and took Elon Musk’s own Tesla Roadster along for the ride. The pricey payload, with its Starman mannequin seated behind the wheel, has been flying through space ever since.

Let’s check on its progress, shall we?
