With more than 64% of the global market as of last month, Google’s Chrome browser is by far the most popular desktop web browser by a massive margin. The next closest is Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, and its global market share totalled less than 11% in December 2018. Chrome is the browser of choice for so many reasons, not the least of which are things like simplicity and speed. When it comes to speed though, things aren’t always straightforward. Chrome is typically lightning fast when loading webpages, but your browser speed can really take a hit when there are tons of tabs open. And if you’re anything like us here at BGR, you pretty much always have tons of tabs open.

Over the years, Google has made plenty of optimizations aimed specifically at improving performance and reducing resource utilization by background tabs. While Samsung’s Galaxy and Apple’s iPhone have become staples of the smartphone market over the past decade, there was another name that dominated the conversation long before smartphones took over. I am of course referring to the Motorola Razr — a flip phone that we’re still talking about to this day, and which carries a branding that Lenovo (which bought Motorola’s smartphone business in 2014) has been sitting on for years.

After all this time, it appears Lenovo will finally bring the brand back to life, as the Wall Street Journal reports that the phone maker is partnering with Verizon to bring the Razr back as a $1,500 smartphone with a foldable display. WSJ says that the device is currently being tested, but could launch as early as next month.

A few days ago, a benchmark for the cheapest Galaxy S10 that Samsung is about to launch revealed incredibly disappointing scores for a phone that should have the same processor as all the other Galaxy S10 models. Those numbers were nowhere near what we expect from Snapdragon 855-powered devices. They were also nowhere near Apple’s 2018 iPhones scores, including the iPhone XR, which is the phone the Galaxy S10 Lite will compete against. We now have a brand new benchmark discovery that delivers scores for the most expensive 4G Galaxy S10 version, the Plus. While they’re much better than what we saw from the Lite version, these new benchmarks still suggest that the Snapdragon 855 isn’t nearly as fast as the A12 Bionic that powers Apple’s latest iPhones.
