This free plugin fixes the two most annoying things about Netflix

%name This free plugin fixes the two most annoying things about Netflix by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Today is Friday, which means plenty of people across the country are getting ready to settle in over the weekend and binge-watch new movies and TV shows. This is doubly true considering how brutally cold the winter weather has gotten in many areas around the nation. We always love Netflix, but that’s especially true in cold weather — and here in the mid-Atlantic region, the temperature is now starting to drop down into the teens. Needless to say, doing anything that involves going outside has become pretty unappealing… especially when there’s so much to stream on Netflix.

If you’re a Netflix user who tends to stick to Netflix’s website as opposed to apps, there’s a good chance you’ve realized by now that there are so many ways to improve it. Chrome browser extensions allow you to get even more out of your streaming experience, and we share cool plugins with our readers all the time. Most recently, we showed you an awesome plugin that makes it so much easier to find good movies and shows to watch, and that lets you browse all of Netflix’s secret genres that are normally hidden from view. Today we’ve got a different Chrome extension for you to check out, and this time around we’re not necessarily looking to enhance Netflix, per se. Instead, this particular plugin fixes two of the most annoying things about Netflix’s website.

WSJ: Triple-cam iPhone 11 Max and two more new iPhones coming this year

%name WSJ: Triple cam iPhone 11 Max and two more new iPhones coming this year by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Apple doesn’t do CES, but Apple-related news and rumors usually dominate the biggest consumer electronics show of the year. 2019 was no different. A purported render of an iPhone XI (or is it iPhone 11?) made its way online a few days ago, featuring three rear-facing cameras and a flash placed asymmetrically inside a rather large bump. Meanwhile, Apple chose to troll competitors by placing user security and privacy-related ads around CES venues, and TV makers including Samsung announced that AirPlay 2 support would be available inside new TVs. And now that CES is over we have a report about this year’s new iPhone series that seems to confirm the earlier leak, providing additional details about the iPhone XS and XR successors.

South Korean cabbies are lighting themselves on fire in protest of a ride-sharing app

%name South Korean cabbies are lighting themselves on fire in protest of a ride sharing app by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

It’s no surprise that taxi drivers aren’t exactly the world’s biggest fans of ride-sharing apps that offer customers cheap fares and the convenience of hailing a ride with just a few taps of a screen — services that have gone on to eat a big chunk out of the industry as a whole around the world. Still, every now and then the intensity of opposition from the taxi industry can surprise you — and, in the case of recent protests in South Korea, downright shock you with the extreme measures that some cabbies are taking to let their feelings be known.

Tens of thousands of taxi drivers in the capital city of Seoul have been protesting for months now against the launch of the ride-sharing service Kakao T Carpool, an Uber-like app the drivers say would exacerbate their already meager standard of living. Some protesters are even taking things so far that they’re committing suicide, by setting themselves on fire.

NASA’s asteroid probe snaps incredible shot of Earth from 71 million miles away

%name NASA’s asteroid probe snaps incredible shot of Earth from 71 million miles away by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Snapping images of distant worlds, galaxies, and stars is something that NASA is very good at, but it’s not often that the space agency has an opportunity to view Earth from a new angle. The OSIRIS-REx mission is focused on studying an asteroid in greater detail than ever before, but it’s also provided scientists with a faraway look at our home planet.

The probe arrived at the space rock known as Bennu late last year, eventually entering orbit around the asteroid in a calculated plan to eventually grab a sample of its material. In mid December the spacecraft’s NavCam captured an image as it stared back in Earth’s direction, and it sure is pretty.

%name These are the annoying ads that Chrome’s ad blocker will save everyone from by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

First launched last year, Google’s own ad blocker built into the Chrome browser is supposed to punish websites that favor intrusive ads, and improve the internet in the process. Running an ad blocker may sound counter-intuitive for Google, a company that makes tons of money from internet ads. But the company would rather be in control of a built-in ad blocker, one that comes built into its popular internet browser, than deal with alternatives from the competition. And that ad-blocking experience is going to be available worldwide this summer.

Amazon reportedly wants to launch a streaming service for video games next year

%name Amazon reportedly wants to launch a streaming service for video games next year by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Amazon has serious ambitious to do more around video games, with a plan to expand in a big way its existing identity as a retailer of titles as well as the owner of Twitch, the most prominent game livestreaming service in the world.

That’s according to a new report via The Information, the Internet retail giant is joining the growing list of companies that want to build what’s essentially a Netflix for video games. Microsoft and Google are likewise interested in this, and what Amazon also wants to develop is a version of what Sony also has via PlayStation Now — a way to stream games instead of customers having to fork over the money to buy and download them.
