Google won’t let Chrome users roll back to the old UI, and now they’re furious

%name Google won’t let Chrome users roll back to the old UI, and now they’re furious by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Back in September, Google began rolling out one of the most substantial Chrome redesigns to date, with a brand new design and dozens of new features. Unsurprisingly, not everyone was on board with Chrome’s new look, which is why our guide to change back to the old design got as much traffic as it did. But with the release of Chrome 71 earlier this month, the ability to switch back was removed altogether, and now the backlash has begun.

I personally don’t mind the redesign all that much, but it is clear that many users do, as ZDNet rounded up dozens of complaints from Reddit and Twitter to show just how far the disappointment has spread. The primary complaints seem to focus on the difficult-to-decipher tabs and the lack of ability to mute tabs.

Runaway cow causes chaos on New Jersey highway

%name Runaway cow causes chaos on New Jersey highway by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Winter driving can be a real pain in northern states, but drivers on New Jersey’s Route 19 had to deal with a very different kind of hazard on Thursday morning. Instead of snow drifts running across the highway, it was a runaway cow that prevented vehicles from moooving along.

Drivers did their best to steer clear of the loose farm animal, but it wasn’t long before police had beef to settle. As WLNY reports, the creature’s low-speed jaunt down the highway took place at around 4 a.m. local time.

Why the ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ trailer isn’t online, even after Marvel showed it

%name Why the ‘Spider Man: Far From Home’ trailer isn’t online, even after Marvel showed it by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Marvel will have three new MCU movies out next year, including Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, and Spider-Man: Far From Home, which are set to be released in March, April, and July, respectively. But only the first two have trailers for the time being. The first Spider-Man 2 trailer was shown behind closed doors at CCXP a few weeks ago, and we already know what Sony and Marvel have prepared for fans. But the two companies postponed the theatrical release of the trailer, which means you can’t see it in cinemas or on YouTube — and there’s still no telling when the first clip will finally be released to the public.

The new wave of Netflix phishing attacks is so bad that the FTC issued a warning

%name The new wave of Netflix phishing attacks is so bad that the FTC issued a warning by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

The year may be drawing to a close but that doesn’t mean scammers are taking any time off for the holidays. A new bulletin issued by the Federal Trade Commission highlights a fresh wave of Netflix phishing scams that have been landing in email inboxes around the globe.

The scam itself is old. It’s a classic “update your payment information” request that includes a link to a fake Netflix login screen where gullible folks might enter their details, and it’s the kind of thing that we see pretty regularly in our spam filters and junk mail folders, but this particular scam is apparently widespread enough to have drawn the attention of the FTC.

Instagram accidentally updated its app with an awful new feature that everyone hated

%name Instagram accidentally updated its app with an awful new feature that everyone hated by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

In what has to be in the running for the most baffling move by a social media platform in 2018 (though Facebook has that award locked up already), Instagram began rolling out a new feed for some users this week which forced them to scroll through their friends’ photos horizontally rather than vertically.

Instagram first began testing this feature in October, but at the time, it was restricted to the Explore tab. In that section of the app, it made a certain amount of sense — after all, you are just poking around, checking out random posts from strangers anyway. But on Thursday, some users began seeing a horizontal feed as soon as they opened the app. In effect, the entire feed turned into a Story, with tap controls as well as a progress bar up top.

%name Amazon just announced its best selling tech gifts of the holidays – and they’re all still on sale by Authcom, Nova Scotia\s Internet and Computing Solutions Provider in Kentville, Annapolis Valley

Amazon on Wednesday announced that this past holiday shopping season was its most successful season ever, with more items ordered worldwide than ever before. That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise considering how good the deals were this year across all of the most popular categories on Amazon’s site. Amazon didn’t share any specific numbers as far as sales go, and that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since the company never shares specific sales volumes. It did announce some of its best-selling products across various categories though, and we’ve got some awesome news: Amazon’s best-selling products from this past holiday shopping season are still on sale right now.

Fire TV and Echo devices were popular this year, as they have been every year. Amazon also listed best-sellers from other categories like toys, where products like the L.O.L. Surprise! Glam Glitter Series Doll with 7 Surprises and Nerf N-Strike Elite Strongarm Blaster topped the charts. In the ever popular electronics category, six items topped the list and it just so happens that they’re all still on sale!

The Bose QuietComfort 35 (Series II) Noise Cancelling Wireless Headphones were top-sellers this year, and they’re still available right now for $50 off, which is the same exact deal we saw on Black Friday and during Cyber Week. Samsung’s UN65NU8000FXZA Flat 65″ 4K UHD 8 Series Smart LED TV is also still on sale for more than $500 off, and Apple’s Space Gray iPad with 32GB of storage is still discounted as well, though it’s not as deep as it was during Cyber Week. Want to see what else topped Amazon’s list this year in the electronics category? You can check everything out below.
